    I'm so glad you made this video. I was thinking of making a video myself to inform people out there of whats it's like to own a Bote rover and actually use it... unlike all other reviewers that probably just use it for a table in there garage.
    The durability of the boat is beyond discouraging for the price. I expected to get 5+ years out of mine and I just don't see it lasting much longer. The first thing to go was my handle on the bow. Called bote to go about replacing it and was told to buy a third party handle(poor customer service). Next thing to go was the foam flooring it has pretty much all peeled off at this point for me no big deal just discouraging. Third thing to go was the rear lift bar in the back. I literally pulled it out of the inside of the boat. One side of it just came out of the plastic insert that it was glued into and on the other side the plastic insert completely ripped out with the bar damaging the shell and exposing a hollow cavity where you can see your foam inside...talk about a nightmare. How are you supposed move such a heavy object with no handles or ones that lack structural integrity, tuff luck huh? The keel of my boat has also completely been warn through. Experiencing flaking all over, once it starts peeling it seems to never stop smh. All these big problems have left me in a complete state of distraught purgatory. Feeling as if I'll never get my moneys worth and making me wonder what I'll even do with it once it's past the point of repair and soundness for use.
    Not to even mention my small problems/gripes. The bote never drys there are to many attachments and holes for water to sit in as mentioned. The 250 dollar kula isn't water tight whatsoever. I stand on the kula as I pole around and all the mud and water on my shoes seeps through the seel on the lid right into the kula.
    I could go on and on...
    Anyways great reveiw so glad you made this video to raise awareness to what your actually purchasing...

      Dude every point you made is valid. My handle broke, my shit would stink because it never drained, decking, hull. It’s all trash. Thanks for chiming in, I see you man🤙🏼

    I wished I knew of this 4 yrs ago. I would’ve never purchased 2 of these BOTE. Everything you mentioned is what we experienced and now it’s just sitting on a trailer in my carport. Put too much money into it and now to spend more on getting it repaired 😢 Thanks for your awesome review 🤙🏽

    Found this to be super helpful, thank you. I’m not saying you talked me out of the Rover but you told me the things I needed to know. The weight and cost were my concerns as well. Now looking at a kayak and used boat for less $

    Nice in depth review, Jacob! There have been brief moments I have considered getting a micro skiff so it's good to have a more complete picture of what that might look like in the Lowcountry. Sure a lot of people will find this helpful!

    This thing is made to look better than it is, and to someone who has no or little experience boating this will look like it checks all the boxes. Then you buy it, and within 3 months it'll be for sale.

    Thank you for the honest review. I was looking at this and the Solo Skiff. I think I'm going to end up getting a small skiff, so I can take guests out comfortably. I did buy a used Bote Rover Aero for a good price. I haven't use it yet, but it seems like a good portable option for family trips to the beach.

    Love your channel! I’m from GA and I’m here for the week.just Took my 16 ft Carolina skiff from folly landing to Morris island. Just curious, had you ever gotten to the harbor from the folly river area via governors cut? I heard it’s real shallow, was curious to maybe try it. I know you can get there by going through the Stono, just wanted to see what other routes there were. Thanks!

    Hey Jacob thanks for the insight do you have another recommendation for someone wanting a smaller to store and easier to tow option?
    I was looking at the live water sports that you were boards but do people put small motors on them?

    Does it say anywhere that the Rover is a 2 person vessel? I don't believe it does. Other than the flaking issue, which sucks btw but it's the only account I've ever heard of with that issue, it seems like the majority of your issues were due to the fact that you had 2 people on the thing. Just because you're within the weight limit doesn't mean it's gonna work well with 2 people.

    • @FishandsurfChs
      @FishandsurfChs  2 роки тому +1

      You have a point! Maybe it’s just an overuse issue. Too many people. The flaking sucks yes but also just the flow of fishing was off to me. Again this is all about perspective and mine is from a solo fly fisherman so take it with a grain of salt.

    Hobie fishing kayak or bote? And why? Thanks

    • @cantbuyrespect
      @cantbuyrespect Рік тому

      I have a hobie pro angler 14. It is a great kayak. Pedals good, it is stable, will cruise at 4mph with normal effort. I am selling it to get a hoodoo hero 130 with a 6hp outboard so I can fish areas further than I feel comfortable going in the Hobie. The Hobie is super comfortable and I would have another if I could deal with the slower speed.

    I had the rover for a year before I sold it and lost a ton of money. I have experienced every single complaint this man has spoken of. Wet ride, heavy, extremeely fragile. I hit a small dock in reverse and I have a dollar sized crack on th hull that flaked off. Had to use a fiber glass fix. If it were made of HDPE maybe this boat would be better, lighter, cheaper.

    I won’t go as far to say Bote is all marketing and they in reality make a terrible product. But it seems like they don’t fully understand what they were making or didn’t fully test it. Based on appearance alone the Rover looks like one of their Rackham SUPs with a big ass hole for the motor.
