- The pilots on two separate flights become negligent while flying their planes. Aeroflot Flight 6502 is approaching the airport when the Captain makes a bet with the First Officer that he can land without looking. Northwest Airlines Flight 188 is supposed to land in Minneapolis but the pilots become distracted and fly past the airport. What happened to both of these flights? Find out on this episode of Black Box Down.

How am I just now finding this? HOW IS THIS NOT MORE POPULAR?!?!
I really like the animations it helps me understand way better
Airline/ATC being able to contact flight attendants is such a good idea
Amazing first redweb on UA-cam now blackboxdown! Woohoo!
Just realized at 19:01 that Chris was referencing this video ua-cam.com/video/4QQmXoR5t9I/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RoosterTeeth at the 55 second mark.
Classic RT
Two points:
1. This is nothing to do with confidence or bravado. It's outright criminal recklessness.
2. The guy got 6 years. But unless he's a stone-cold sociopath, he had to suffer the emotional consequences of his actions until he died.
Shout-out to Red Web for bringing me here. I can never get enough RT content
I've been on a flight where the door to the cockpit was wide open and I could see one of the pilots sleeping!
Pre 9/11 right?
@@Jnor116 No! I was still in school at that time and didn't fly until I was an adult, so this was a while after!
@@Klucylu was it a smaller plane or actual commercial air liner?
@@Jnor116 It must have been smaller... I would have been flying from the UK to Italy and back. (Longer flights have entertainment systems so I wouldn't have noticed the pilots 😆)
@@Klucylu that right there is why. Gus commented that the regulation was in the United States. Also in the United States passenger aircraft have to have the cockpit locked unless unable do so.
so. Hence why I asked if it was before 9/11.
Are all of the previous episodes going to be posted as well?
Thanks for mentioning this so I would know previous episodes existed.
@@Zelinkokitsune they have like 40 episodes on any platform you could find a podcast on.
Deadass need to go to bed lol
i mean, i get that they changed rules, but in this case the pilots were simply ignoring the air control. What is there to do? You must assume pilots are going to cooperate.
I landed in the simulator once with zero visibility. It is possible, just not recommended.
❤️❤️❤️
