- The Volvo D5 was made to replace the D24Tic. Being a 5-cylinder made it sound well.. like a 5-cylinder, which is a wonderful sound! Enjoy ;)
Most of these Volvo S60/V70/S80 have modified exhaust. Straight pipe, Hardcut limiter and such.
5 cylinders never disappoint!

Crazy good Diesel engine the D5244
The turbo sound goes hard mine is a 2007 V70 Stock except I removed the foam dampener in the airbox and at some point the silencer in the boost pipe between the intercooler and turbocharger outlet underneath the engine was deleted which is common practice if they leak or fail like crack open.
That already makes for a great turbo spool sound. Gonna emove the air inlet duct thingy directing air from the front of the car to the airbox next and see what that does for sound. A bit counterproductive since the airbox is more open with the duct removed so more crap can get into the air filter and it will suck in hot air from the engine bay.
That silver one at the end sounds fkn amazing
These actually incredibly capable cars, I am always surprised by how fast I send it round country roads and it always has full control.
My biggest complaint is that the bushings can’t handle the weight of the car, so if you are an aggressive driver, you have to replace all of the major front suspension bushings with power flex.

I would call that a temporary solution which Volvo used until they made their own diesel in house.
