Very enjoyable video. Lots of great action. I'm going to check out your channel to see what else you have shared. I just found your channel this morning.
i chased this very ex C.P DRs 1200 SW many a day in southern Ontario as it was home based at Toronto Yards Agincourt..She frequented my home town and frequented southern Ontario in general..Oddly enough it survived both a rebuild and a new number(this would have likley been 1259 in a rebuild) and also survived not being made into a hump reciever control unit..many other sister units in the SW 1200 run and a few sisters around her became such units including 8155 and 8161 her number if shed been a hump reciever unit would have been liky been 1159...Thanks for the memories of a grand old friend
Sweet vandalism. :( Love the shot where it looks like coming through Turntable Junction and then the tracks right after at 4 mins - wow. Also, my first home was in Ringoes, I hv bn on this train probably 20 times, stopped in and just watched twice that number of times; but I never knew they ran freight on this line. Love the yellow caboose.
Fantastic video, Robert! It really is neat to see a freight train on this railroad, and seeing H-76 was a nice bonus. Kind of a shame that 8159 got covered with so much graffiti, but I guess it adds some character to it. It also kind of sucks that 3360 got its horn moved to the long hood. It was still cab-mounted when I saw it last year on H-02. I would like to ask a couple questions. First, I noticed that there was a boxcar sitting on a siding in the Hampton Corner Road shot. What customer is there at that location? Second, I don't recognize that shot from Pennsylvania Road. Did the area around there change significantly over the last year or so? The last time I was around there, that area was on the other side of a private crossing marked with "No Tresspassing" signs. Lastly, how often do these trains typically run?
Thanks! The Boxcar you see is on the old copper Hill siding. there are no longer any customers there and in fact half of the siding has been ripped up. It is currently just use for storage as needed for rolling stock that can't fit in Ringoes. second question, yes Pennsylvania Avenue has changed quite significantly. they made it into a public railroad crossing now in order to eliminate the overhead bridge. third, the only time they will run freight down to Ringos is on Wednesdays, granted they have a loaded car to bring to Ringoes and / or an empty that has to be picked up from Ringoes. however you can always find them shifting three bridges on Wednesdays and Saturdays. start up time is 8 a.m.
Bobert Sporek Thanks a lot for the information. I remember that bridge on Pennsylvania Avenue was very old and narrow, and the curve to get onto it was pretty crappy. It makes sense then that they woukd want to change the route of traffic on that road, especially if the bridge was falling apart.
I'm amazed this railroad isn't closed down... The track work is horrible and looks so unsafe.... But apparently, the engineer and conductor didn't really care...! Great video coverage...!
+Cameron White Track can withstand a 150 ton steam locomotive at 15+. It's not as bad as you think, just some parts are more worn than others. Entire railroad is in the process of being rebuilt to Class II standards.
You say, "...amazed this railroad isn't closed down". To the contrary. I'm surprised there aren't MORE roads like this. In todays railroading, the class 1s are ONLY interested in revenue ton miles. That is, moving a railcar long distances. Usually 500 miles and up. That's where they can make decent cash without the threat from truckers. But there's very little interest in spotting railcars at their final destination. Not enough cash generated in running a 20 mile round trip wayfreight for them to even bother. The money made at that point is crumbs to a company like NS. But to a upstart shortline, those crumbs are GOLD.
My favorite railroad 😊

Glad to see the Black River & Western is still in business, and will be rebuilt trackwise.
I remember when 8159 was switching at the Hillsborough industrial park a few years back looking nice and clean, Such a shame she was tagged like that.
Very Excellent Bob. BR&W is awesome which fright. Strasburg doing awesome fright run with steam power.
JOHNRAIL& RACEFAN88 i get your point, however DMEN is no toy!
Glad to see the old girl still working. lm from her old back yard of southern Ontario.
Nice to see an old ex CPR SW1200RS “Pup” still running, used to see those on spurs all around Winnipeg in the 1980’s/90’s!

Will you be attending the big 50th celebration on Sunday the 17th? I will!
RaritanRiverRailroadFan4 Yes sir!
Bobert Sporek Nice! I'll be riding the train with my club. I'll be sure to wave!
only toys paint on engines.... a shame.
Good job watch my video Strasburg Railroad A Steamy Canadian National #89 and Strasburg Railroad CN #89 Ghost Whistle
I hate graffiti
most graffiti writers arent down with painting on an old locomotive either man
Nice vid..but paint job ASAP!!
That graffiti would be nice if it was artistic as it is "several tags" it sucks. Get rid of it ASAP
+Stephen Hunter Locomotive has since been repainted to a black and white scheme, renumbered #1259
That works too.
What's with the retards that have to paint their drivel on private property in the first place. GET A LIFE!!
