when you have the slave number (e.g 3) , it is up to your creativity to select an alarm or a nice automation system structure then marking the failed slave.

First you need to have the module with diagnostic capabilities.Then , You can use OB82 for checking internal failures and OB83 for removing /inserting modules.
Check the online help of STEP 7 or TIA Portal for more information.

How to know which station had a problem if it comes only for a second or two in a month or a week? I'm having an issue of plc going into stop mode..!!
