I love the note at 02:03. The performance as a whole wasn't the best, something was wrong, she was singing it too fast and the last run wasn't good, I was expecting a better sustained belt. I think Kelly feels more confident when she's with the group, in fact when they sang it together she was the strongest by far. Let's not forget that, unlike others (included her band mate as a solo) she has actually sung it live here and that is a point in her favor. I detest when artists lip-sync the National Anthem. I can pass on some pitchy notes when the singer sings live. Pre-recorded tracks should be forbidden.
She has much better performances of the anthem than this (check out her rendition for the pro-bowl, and the one she did at a boxing event). She was sick during this performance, but that's really no excuse because as a professional vocalist, there are techniques you can administer to help you push through, and if that won't do the trick, you pull out (though that looks unprofessional and could potentially ruin your chances of ever being booked again). I guess it's a catch 22; do I sing sick and risk sounding a hot mess, or do I pull out at the last minute, and risk sullying my reputation? She did the best she could I suppose, but she did not sound like a consumate professional. At least Kelly keeps it real though. Sick or naw, she's going to give you a live vocal.

I'm a very big fan of Kelly but I was not feeling this at all! The version she did with DC sounded betta &b I'm just referring to her part cuz her last note was amazing so I know she can do it. Her 2013 version was alot betta than this but wasn't feeling that one either.

Umm, this is not Farrah, Kelly was clearly under the weather here and I believe the nerves got the better of her. To say she never had the chops is a big reach. Kelly can sing anything she wants.
@@canon6363 Kelly is NOT a great singer and that’s just a fact! Her runs are horrible, her breathe control is asthmatic, and her vocal stylings and choices need work. She’s good enough to harmonize in a girl group, but that’s about it! Any member of Danity Kane could have replaced her vocals in DC3. Her voice is NOT an essential worker and she doesn’t have enough star power to overlook it, such as Ciara, Rihanna, Ashanti, etc. She hasn’t grown vocally enough to perform the National Anthem. I like Kelly but unless she’s selling sex appeal or sexy vibes her voice is useless kinda like Janet and Jlo.
Now you see how Beyonce was the talent. It's the anthem, not a Billboard top 40 song!
Beyonces versions were way more modified and overdone than kellys here.
