I been watching this , they had a 23 window went for under 100K , there was some talk about it maybe being a clone, and there was a duoble cal, went forin the 70 range. Everyone one there was interested in the ford GT40 bad time to sell a vw.

These were not meant to replace the beetle and vw never expected them to sell in those numbers. They were a step up from the Beetle.

Should have kept mine! Had a '68 fuelie. Rust monsters got to it, but now they are worth restoring.

the problem with these was the awful ebgine that came with it .difficult to fix
The owner decided to put Porsche rims on it... lol It looks great but the logo throws me off

slightly lowered stock car with mismatched interior/exterior colours, random porsche wheels and aftermarket carbs. someone got badly ripped off.

Too mucked around with for me. Wrong color, lowered, the wheels. I prefer the facelifted version too.
