Sure, why not? Do what feels right for you. Mei was my first DPS, my second hero after being a D.Va one-trick. I was inspired from watching Jardio's games. Thanks to Fitzy, my hours on Sombra have now surpassed both Mei and D.Va. I didn't feel comfortable playing Sombra as a first hero for the same reason, she's complicated. But now that I have a hitscan in my DPS pool, life is much easier when the enemy goes Pharah / Echo to counter Mei.
