Is there a way to disable that blue navigation stripe on the left?
It's way too prominent for something I'd be likely to use a few times during setup, then almost never after that. It's also likely to get accidental presses when I'm trying to hit hit the airplay home screen button (which doubles as a way to activate voice controls).
I agree. I'd like to buy this but this is a deciding factor.
How can we change the startup screen photo (currently 1EV), I would to add my logo there during startup? Is it possible? :)
Is there a matte screen protector that fits these?
I love the idea of this product, but I'm a bit worried about permanently deforming the dash or scuffing up the trim. Have you seen anything like this after having it installed for a while?
Thanks, no we have not had any issues - been on our truck for almost a year and we've installed / removed many times for videos and testing!
Would I be able to install a camera and access from this unit? I’d like to have a camera on the dogs when they’re in the cargo area.
I assume steering wheel controls do not interface? Does the "mic" button within the carplay/AA app use the Rivian's built in mics? What happens during phone calls?
How does a phone call work via CarPlay? Does the screen use the Rivian mics if the audio is connected via the Rivian Bluetooth?
Our Smart Screen uses the Rivian mic and speakers for a phone call via CarPlay

For the fuse your kit taps, is that a "switched power" fuse, or is the display constantly powered?
switched, when the truck is off the fuse is off.
Can the boot screen be customized? It would be great to be able to use my own image.
That would be cool, maybe in the future - but for now, it's just our cool Rivian!
It absolutely can. Grab a MicroSD and get your image file. Rename the file to boot_logo.jpg, copy to the MicroSD, put the MicroSD card in and start it up. It will say boot logo updated or something like that. Your file has to be exactly 1600 x 600 pixels. Mine currently boots to the Rivian logo now.

Would be my first go at a vehicle modification like this. Would wiring into the fuse box like this void warranty? And can this be used in tandem with the mag lock phone charger?
@@R1DEWMEno it doesn’t, I just asked the guys at the Rivian Service center and they said they’ve seen several of them.

ah yes, for 2025 you use the OBD2 connector for power (not the fuse panel) - it is not covered by panels, it's down by the fuse panel area. let me know if you see it!
@@EVSportlineyes. That’s exposed without removing panels and very easily accessible. This connection would require a separate obd2 to usb c power cable adapter though?

Is there a demo for the txting function?
My iPhone 15 does not consistently connect for car play. The smart screen unit shows it’s connected via Bluetooth and the phone says it’s connected, but just goes to the smart screen Bluetooth screen rather than going into CarPlay and just stays on that screen. Other times CarPlay comes right up but it’s inconsistent. Any suggestions?
This sounds like phone settings for CarPlay. It's finicky on the iPhone. The priority of what your phone does or connects to matters. Also, sometimes it takes a minute for CarPlay to start...it's again up to the proximetry, so I would give it a minute to two.
Can you run the Apple Maps, via CarPlay, and use the Rivian navigation at the same time?

@@EVSportline how would / can you hook up the phone mag safe phone charger and the Apple CarPlay? It looks like they use the same fuse. Can you use a different fuse for one of them?

Metal - extruded aluminum, anodized black. Its premium.
Can we disable the beeping and does the menu ever go away into a Full screen AA/Carplay view?
Yes, easy. In the settings, just toggle it 'off'.
Did not AA setup. Ordered one but there seems some delay.. when are they coming in.. support doesn't respond

It will run CarPlay, so if ONX works with CarPlay, you're good!

mine doesnt turn off. im using the same fuse position shown at 3:11.
It turns off when the Rivian turns off. The Smart Screen also has a 'power button' on the top edge, push that if you like.
Mine doesn’t turn on and off with the vehicle either, it’s constantly powered.
Same here, Just installed it, left it for 1/2 hour (at my office) walked up to the vehicle without Key, Phone, or Keycard and the display is still active?
Most frustrating part is that whenever i am on the phone while car is off and parked in the garage, the phone call transfers over to the unit - support had me disable all proximity monitors for phone, key, fobs etc but still happens all the time - so frustrating and the unit clearly never really turns off…i love it for when i am driving but drives me NUTS when i am at home on the phone….

Is anyone have an issue where the screen doesn't shut off when the vehicle does?
The screen turns on/off with the Rivian. Be sure to adjust your Rivian power setting (phone proximity, key fob, or key card settings).
@@EVSportline It not though. I will walk up to it without a key/phone or fob and its still on 10 min later after the car has been locked and turned off.
@jcornellier76 same here. The console turns on and my android auto starts turning on and music starts playing.
@@jcornellier76 did you ever hear back on this? i have the same issue - also, when my phone is anywhere near the car, the calls/audio route to the car even when it's off. :|
For some reason. Music will play through the rivian’s speakers but not the navigation sound.
That is usually a setting 'on the phone' navigation app, set it to play the sound via bluetooth to the Rivian.
How in the actual hell did you get under there to see and reach the correct fuse!
Looks like a good way to void the warranty messing with the fuse box.
For $80k why doesn’t it come with CarPlay??
Some OEMs do not want to allow other platforms in the infotainment stack, Rivian is one.
@@EVSportline they will soon realize it’s not about them and what the consumer expects. Most consumers have certain expectations when paying $80k for a vehicle. Most of them have come from other vehicles that had these features.
You will see there is an entire community of Rivian users hacking together a third party solution, adding another screen and ugly wire to an $80k vehicle just to get Apple CarPlay. Apple CarPlay is amazing and I couldn’t imagine an EV manufacturer developing something better.
@@jeremyferguson9292 yes, its in not the best that AA and Carplay are not a thing in the rivian. other OEMs are getting rid of AA & Carplay in favor or thier own sytsems. they want the data. in some cases its about finding out what to integrate in the future. and some have really bad integrations with AA & Carplay.
At least there is a 3rd party solution, the wire could be hidden behind some more panels, yes. but its not that bad. i mean if you are gonna get an 80k vehicle, going to a car A/V shop and haveing them install it and look nice shouldnt be an issue
