    I usually get passthroughs with my megameats at 60 pounds 29” dl. Only time I haven’t is when I hit hard bone like offside shoulder. The blades are usually a one and done deal though they don’t hold up too well when they drag across ribs and whatnot.

    Very interesting story on the dog track. I personally have a tracking dog and when a deer or animal is shot, they release a particular smell that the dogs can detect from their feet due to the elevated adrenaline. So realistically a good training dog can find a deer that was shot and there is no blood at all. I have also had mine wind a deer that is dead while waiting to track and have him try and pull me straight through the fences before we even go towards the woods to where we were hunting.
    So, while they start on blood drops as a young pup as they learn they are actually not tracking the blood most of the time.

    Those hounds aren’t trained to smell blood. They are trained off the scent coming off the interdigital gland of a wounded deer. If they were locked in on a trail, it was the deer you shot at and hit. Just because it was leaking doesn’t mean it couldn’t go a mile.

    I’d like to see a video or discussion on what you get when you upgrade to a flash ship bow. For instance, I have a Bear Alaskan XT. I have a QAD rest on it, and I plan to get a Spot Hogg boonie triple stack PM. In a year or so, what would I gain by upgrading to a Hoyt AX2 and bringing those nicer accessories over to it.

    • @Fite234
      @Fite234 4 дні тому +1

      First, congratulations on building a bow the right way, IMO. Accessories and arrow quality matter first. Second, before going to a new bow, look at upgrading your release. A lot can be gained there before upgrading your bow. Now, as far as upgrading to a flagship from your current bow, you'll be gaining refinement and quality. You'll have a roller guard, making your draw smoother. Beefed up parts that will aid in durability. Cleaner finish in the bow overall. You may also bounce up in riser metal quality as well depending on where you go. That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the XT.

    • @SoldMyHat
      @SoldMyHat 4 дні тому +1

      @@Fite234thanks for the info!! I currently have a Scott Solus wrist release. I like it so far but have a lot of learning to do. Arrows are pretty basic. GT Hunter XT with standard insert, nock, and 125 gr tips. Running about 12.5% foc with the tape measure method. I have a OMP Phoenix fletching jig on the way and plan to run aae hybrid 26 with left 2 degree helical in 3 fletch. I do like my xt so far. Primary purpose is hunting and practice for hunting. I’m planning to join in on some local 3D shoots as well. I think I want a 3 pin mover, but I’m still trying to figure that out. I’ve been watching the mfjj coaching videos and the nockon archery 101 videos trying to learn the right way.

    • @Fite234
      @Fite234 4 дні тому

      Sounds like you have a great setup. GT XT are great arrows for what you are doing. You want to have a little fun, get a membership to Archers Advantage. It's cheap for a whole year, and you can learn a lot building arrows to certain bow setups on there. You can also make sight tapes. A three pin mover is awesome. I use the HHA Tetra RYZ, a vertical 2 pin. You'll find your niche of equipment the more you play with it all. Where you primarily hunt at?

    • @SoldMyHat
      @SoldMyHat 4 дні тому +1

      @@Fite234thanks!! I was looking at that sight too in the 3 pin. West TN whitetail. Probably won’t need more than 40 yards for hunting, but shooting far is fun.

      @Fite234 4 дні тому +1

      @SoldMyHat HHA is my go-to. Tried several, but always ended up back there. Same style of hunting as me then. I'm in Southern Indiana. Ive killed some deer at range in your area. Definitely possible.
