The Role of Hope in Holy Week

- There are many great ways to describe hope, but Fr. Mike defines it as “trust in another extended into the future.” He recalls two stories from the Gospels that exemplify what hope is not. When Peter denied Christ, and when the two travelers on the road to Emmaus abandoned their hope in Christ.
Peter had Jesus (they were basically best friends), but-by denying him-was essentially saying he didn’t need Jesus.
The travelers needed Jesus, but the way they saw it they no longer had him.
Fr. Mike explains how hope is knowing that we have Jesus and knowing that we need him. This hope can empower us to courageously get through our darkest hours.

Discernment takes you, the Chruch, and God. God ultimately decides. The first big step is to go to a Vocations Director and go to a discernment retreat. Perhaps you already know this. You must do it if you truly are discerning. You cannot discern alone. You need the Church. Best wishes friend.
I'd say go to vocation seminars, what really inspires you to become a priest someday. If it's really your calling, may it be marriage, single blessedness or what vocation it may seem. You have to have a solid motivation for it, it won't be easy but always pray for the Lord. God bless you bro+

Many around the world have been stunned by the Notre Dame fire, but even in the midst of such a terrible event, several wonderful and miraculous (IMHO) things occurred: 1. All three of the huge stained glass Rose Windows were saved, 2. the giant organ with 8000 pipes was saved, and 3. there were 400 fireman who coordinated with the people in charge of the church to execute a plan to save the relics and other treasures of the church, and it worked. I am sure there are others.
I believe that even in the darkest of times, God provides hope, and I agree that we also have to take action to activate that Hope. And, to remember that God's ways are not our ways, and Hope may be or appear to be absent, but, if we continue to trust, it will manifest.
May you have a Blessed and Joyous Easter!

When my wife died of cancer 3-1/2 years ago without my faith and without hope I am not sure how I would have survived. It still amazes me today that after her diagnosis, treatment and everything that comes with cancer treatment and then her passing, my faith became stronger and today I am a much different and better person. Also, because of my faith I met an incredible woman who I am now engaged to and we are so excited to spend our first Easter together and so exited for our future. Without hope none of this would have been possible.
One year later, this message is still very relevant and important. Thank you Fr. Mike.

I woke up at 2h30 and was crushed by the pain of analysing what fear has made me lose in my life.
I need to trust and not be afraid. He is with me always, He told me so Himself... but I guess I needed Fr. Mike to remind me.

There's so much I'm still learning
To brush up on what I didn’t know or didn’t learn in my catechism class I went to LifeSite joined our family rosary crusade catechism course they use the Baltimore catechism and it actually helps me a lot I also look at videos like this As well as Catholic truth, Blue collar catholic and Tim Gordon actually has a course haven’t signed up for that yet Scott Hahn is also helpful

I’ve been had been having a lot of fear about the final coming. It got to the point where every hour I would ask god to please do not destroy this world, give us a One more chance. Yes sometimes I feel I'm going crazy too. No worries, we have Jesus and the Church. Why do most of us Catholics think we are crazy? Maybe the non-believers are crazy. No hate or judgement on anyone though. Maybe God/the Church takes us from crazy (given to us by the world) to sane. Blessed Triduum and Happy Easter!

Hebrews 4 verse 11 says we need to labour to rest , the word labour is used because we want to do it ourselves and sometimes it’s hard to just rest and trust in Christ Jesus and his finished work.

Abound in hope and to be held in that position through faith in his word of truth with the power of Holy Spirit and the finished work of our High Priest what more could we give thanks to the Father for in Prayer even our hope he gives us , abundantly.in all things we are truly blessed .

Thank you so much. I was just crushed during Holy Week by another person of faith who basically flailed me for not making a prayer meeting about his political agenda. I wanted to climb into a hole. But this is Holy Thursday and I have 3 more days to get back on the path. I love you Lord Jesus. By your cross and resurrection you have set us free.
