They did but for only 1996/97 years and they are few and far between. I seen a few on the road. I drive a FWD 850 turbo and I would love to convert over to AWD if I ever find one in the junkyard.
i'd suggest it really is not that great of an idea if you are not rolling in cash. a likely reason why that thing would be in the junkyard is shot awd system. it's either the propshaft, the angle gear, or the viscous coupling that goes kaput, and these things are really not cheap indeed. and it likes to rip its front semi-axles apart. so i'd start out with an 850awd or an s/v70 in good order. and then apply junkyard repairs if necessary. however, costs aside, it's a magnificent car. ground clearence is a joke, and turning radius is pathetic, but it really ploughs through anything. and it handles very well (unlike the RWD things which are very floaty). mine is approaching 400K kms, it's knackered, but it works. although i had to replace the gearbox with a used item very recently.
@@zloychechen5150 can confirm. i lost my 850 - catastrophic failure on one of the CV axles while i was trying to drive it to the mechanic for repair. i knew they needed replacement but didn't know how serious its condition was already in... sad day, car was immaculate for a 94
Been looking at the v70's set up and it doesnt look like it would be an easy conversion. I'm thinking I need to just find a awd 850 in Canada. Then bring it home to the states.
Одна из самых редких volvo
The old viscous couplings from the 90s Volvo make for good non'computerized AWD conversions for both earlier and later cars
They made their way to Canada. Lots of them here in British Columbia.
great clasic VOLVO and is VOLVO FOR LIFE

zloychechen5150. Propshaft, angle gear and VC are all rebuildable for relatively cheap.

Did they ever bring AWD to the US in a Volvo 850?
James Ahern only in Canada
they must have done s70s and v70s, which are the same, but don't look as good.
zloychechen5150 right. Not nearly as good looking as the 850.
