- Great White Attack (on waves) - Wooly TV Surfboard Review #48
The Great White Twin by Mike Woo x Slater Designs
Wooly weighs 87kg/192lb and is 6'1"/187cm tall - more like 90kg on most days :)
Wooly is riding
6'0" x 20 1/2" x 2 11/16" - 36.0L
Note - A couple of times during the filming of the GW, Wooly thought he could have come down to a 5'11" and it would have been fine in volume.

From Slater Designs
Inspired by the outline of the Great White Shark, Kelly Slater designed the ‘Great White Twin’ in I-Bolic Technology with Volcanic Lamination alongside Bali-based shaper Mike Woo.
This is a high performance groveler with the paddle and catching of a hybrid, and the on-rail performance of a shortboard. It fits where most fish don’t - it creates speed in weak waves, controls speed in powerful waves, and excels at tight arcs in punchy pockets and quick wraps on shoulder sections. It's volume is hidden at center with fine rails for immediate response and quick reaction in the pocket. It has the speed of a twin fin with the immediate response of a thruster, and it's elevated tail rocker makes it magic on your backhand.
Recommended to surf at your performance volume, or just slightly more.

the legend. so much surfing content in your reviews - we are blessed!
Thanks 🙏
I used your long absence well; I watched all the past videos! They are great, your reviews are advanced yet somehow I understand you very well. Thank you❣️
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching 🤙. It was a long flat summer so hopefully the weather has turned and I can get smashing through some boards!
Appreciate the candid assessment 👍🏼
Thanks 🙏
You’ve got a hinged back like Slater!😮
If I have a big toe like Slater I would be happy :)
The way that slides through 😮 Slater must have done his hip testing this board 😂
:) ha ha yeah probably did!
Loved the review, can't wait to try mine. Although I bought mine at my normal liters so I'm a little nervous now, hopefully it goes. Cheers
I think it will be fine, I think I was over volumed and could have gone down to the 5'11".
Great review
Thanks 🙏
@@WoolyTV 🤙🏿
Great review Wooly . Yew
🙏
Great board!
🤙
Looks like it was well travelled, even a bit of Bali in the end there. lol @ the seaweed splash at 6:44 ...board looks very similar to the HS Hypto twin pin in outline, but with a handy dandy trailer option. I wonder how the volcanic holds up vs future flex over time 🤔...cheers for the review 👍
Thanks 🙏. I think the Volcanic will last and also keep its colour for longer
@@WoolyTV Yeah I reckon your right m8. I really like the brushed carbon kinda look of the volcanic too.
Good one, thx for sharing and it will be nice to have same review for the S Boss 😁 yewwwww 🤙
Thanks 🙏. Had one surf on the S Boss. Just started the review.
Well done. And you satisfied my shite dumpy conditions quota. Thank you.
😝
I use Futures Black Stix 2 + 1 in mine and it goes sick specially if you after a bit more of a Thruster pivot
I never rode it as a 2 + 1 but Im sure it feels great.
Yes Yes great review. i was waiting for it. What's the biggest difference between the GWT and the sci fi 2 . Is the GWT faster out off the box??
keep up the good work !!!!
Very different boards. Sci Fi would be faster down the line.
Good stuff Wooly! Been wanting to this model for a few months now. Is it a favorite or how did it fair overall? Thanks. 🍻
For me it performed best in good quality waves, shoulder high and above. I liked it as a 2+ 1 not as a pure twin.
Sorry to bug ya Wooly (I saw others did a while back) but what is your eta on the Xero gravity carbotech, you still dropping a review on that? Thanks for all reviews!!
All good! It was supposed to be before this one but the guys doing the edit nailed the GW first. It’s finished and the final edit is being done now. Should be up next week ⚡️
Cheers buddy, yeww!!!!
@@WoolyTVapart from the surf did you cover what it would be like to live with? I've heard it's a vampire, too much direct sun and it's stuffed?
@@ravingmad765 I’ve had no dramas with mine. I just use a board sock to keep it out of the sun.
Great review! Anyone know that first song that played? At 17 sec and then again later in the video.
Im not sure what it is but you could probably try one of those Shazam apps....
How does this compare to the black baron 2.1? Love the reviews btw
Pretty different outline but similar wave conditions they work in. Head high good quality waves.
Great review Wooly. Will you be looking at reviewing the S-boss too?
Sure am! Had one surf on it so far.
Would love to see 2+1, quads and thrusters on it @WoolyTV !
@@mattyk112 first surf was on a quad and now it’s set up as a thruster.
@WoolyTV awesome mate! I've heard quads over thruster, but keen to see it. The 2+1 looks fun too! Kelly's been riding it with 2 shark fin trailers...one can only dream hahaha
Brilliant Wooly, itching for your views on that one. Can’t wait. You loving it so far? Is that the next vid to drop?
Hey Mate,
Dumpster Diver 2 on the agenda?
About to order one but it’s about number 5 in line.
Great! Thanks for the review!
But it looks a bit big for you... To much on top of the water...
Yeah I put that in the notes that o could have ridden the 5’11”.
Has a lot of similarities to album twinsman
First thing that came to mind when I saw it.
@@trestlesrocks 💯
I haven’t ridden a Twinsman (yet) to compare.
Nothing like the Twinsman
@@user-ql4gz2fn5e I agree I been riding the warped pin is sick too
🤙🤙
I’m guessing you like it? 🤙
@@WoolyTV great show great review but with all due respect that board doesn't do you justice.
@@hman7236 I did have a couple of surfs that I gelled with it and it felt great. I liked it best with the trailer in and in overhead surf 🤙

@@WoolyTV Wooly the salesman👍 😂 your the man and the dancer ,, but I know a good danceer 🕺 when I see one..... must of been the partner..Shot out to the show its the Shizzzz
First like first comment te he
✅
would it grovel 🤙
Not really. I preferred it in shoulder high and up.
@@WoolyTV I typed this in before the end of your review
@@catinthehat8412 😝
Nup I don’t like the look of it … seen you surf better too on others
flick flack surfing
I had moments on it, but it is a twin so I cant surf it like one of my daily drivers.
Absolute worst board I’ve ever owned, surfs like a dish-plate.
I’m entirely biased by my experience, but i couldn’t help constantly seeing how awful it looks in the videos.
I had some really good surfs on it but I think I could have gone down to the 5’11”.
Looks like a board that likes to sit really flat on the water, rather than getting on rail.
@@DustyStringer I’m no ripper, but exactly that. The thing surfed like a dish plate. Tipping it on rail was the worst part of the board, I felt like i needed to surf it flat, and the only thing to do was doing little slide kick things like you see Wooly do in this video. He’s such a good surfer, but this is by far the worst he’s looked in any review.
That is the problem with this material from firewire and epoxy o general . I had a cymatic, scf hi and a hypto crypto in the Last 3-4 years i sold them all. I was unmotivated with surf i was thinking to go to a surfshool 😂. Now have a Pyzelien 2 PU and i love it, my surf return 😅. By the revisions of Wooly my next board for my quiver gonna be JS zero gravity or a pyzel shadow.
