Ahh man. Sony did it again. I wish they upgraded the other rear sensors as well, but the improvements in their computational photography are probably worth it anyways. They made quite a significant jump with this one. Since your video on the 1 IV I got myself a 5 III for 400$ used and I've been loving it. Very few phones as versatile and speed-focused as these. And the jpegs are gorgeous, even at night I prefer their colors and quality over anything else I've seen and used (including the big boys like the S22 Ultra from window shopping outings). I'll probably wait for another year before upgrading, but who knows. A few things Sony should go forward with: - Upgrade the other 2 sensors (the ultrawide especially, it's quite noisy and probably the most outdated one on the phone) - Enable 4k 120fps HDR on the front camera - Start porting more photo and video picture profiles from the alpha cameras, every new addition is invaluable - Include the strap hole the Pro-I has (I have a case to protect my phone that also supports a strong camera strap for smartphones I have, but it's so beautiful I sometimes just remove it to be able to see it, Sony does design better than a lot of smartphone companies) - Improve the video algorithms to reduce the smoothness (this is pretty apparent when digitally zooming in and it could be better, but it also eliminates noise like no other smartphone) - Give us the ability to shoot RAW on basic mode + the new night mode - (If they haven't already) fix the low light raw color circle + softness problem - Increase the telephoto's optical zoom range (there was a rumor about a 70-200mm module but it seems it was false or didn't make it in the device) - Add clipping zebras for both highlights and shadow areas on all camera apps - Give us the option for a digital button instead of the shutter button on advanced modes (I wouldn't prefer it over a physical shutter button, that's a huge selling point, but this way you can use intervalometer apps, which is HUGE for someone like me who's into astrophotography) That's about it. I'm very impressed and looking forward to see this sensor tech spread. Another creator made a video that included a 2000 ISO jpeg shot in late twillight and it blew my mind how there was basically no visible noise at all. If I go over 200 ISO on my 5 III noise creeps in really fast.
Probably this year I will still use the Xperia 1 ii and maybe next year I will choose again Xperia. I really love this phone, the only downside is that Sony doesn't offer software updates like Samsung... and here I can include photo/video apps also, not just the OS. You can shoot some nice bursts with these phones and when you have small children or pets, it's a game changer. Nice review ;)
Just found your channel after doing extensive research on the Xperia 1 V. The quality of the photos and footage are amazing! I've been a professional photographer for a number of years and have been using Sony cameras ever since the first alpha. When smartphone cameras got good enough, I loved having a smartphone that had a capable camera with me (my favourite was the Huawei P60 Pro, I found it had incredible dynamic range) Interestingly I've only ever owned 2 'Sony' phones, the Sony Ericsson P900 and the Sony Ericsson W200i (DEFINITELY showing my age lol) But the last few years, I got phones that dealt more with computational photography and achieved good results as a quick point and shoot. Then, in the last few years, I went with foldable phones, to ease my workflow for my main career. My current Galaxy Fold 3 has seen better days, but the turning point happened yesterday, when my department at work had a baby shower for one of our colleagues. Everyone in my team knows I'm a photographer (unfortunately I forgot to pack my Alpha IV in my bloody bag) and was looking at me to take some photos and video, but I was so embarrassed with the camera quality of the Galaxy fold 3, I 'left' it at my desk. Unfortunately, I was persuaded to go fetch it and take some photos.... and after going through the photos...I really should've left it at my desk! Anyway, I'm out of contract and was looking for a new phone last night, did a tone of research and I think this Xperia would be what I actually need...especially after a photoshoot I had 2 weeks ago, I've been thinking of buying a monitor. Now after seeing this amazing video, Platinum Silver Xperia 1 V pre-ordered! I just hope I didn't jump the gun before the new Xperia Pro II is announced and turns out to be substantially better....
Damn, such a good camera on a phone, this is too good, the colour is really punchy but in natural way, with a good skill and a nice spot, nothing can stop sony 🥰
Dearest Ko, We are many Xperia fans around the world, mostly in Europe, and we are really appreciative for the work you are doing with Sony devices. But many of us are not creators for YT, but are making money for different occasion between friends. As I being among them, more a non-virtual creator (a more personal one), I used Xperia and fell in love with the quality overall from Elm and Hazel era. Very cheap but a greatly performers on daylight for that time. I didn't switch to any other trademark from then, but sure, there were issues every time with Sony's software processing, but by time they solved it in a way or another. Now I am a happy user of Xperia 1 mk4, and for in depth want-to-be professional creator for friends and a true DSLR to smartphone camera shooting Xperia needs improving. Sure, Xperia it's truly close to it and much better than any Samsung, Xiaomi or iPhone, but, the engineers of software needs a really close approach to the die hard users of Xperia testing, that you are also one of them, and maybe by you, we can solve some issues. So, my questions for you and Sony if they read your fan's, are: 1. Rotating the icons is a must-have for any kind of shooting. So, for Pro-i and mk4 models at least, please tell Sony to upgrade them. 2. Do mk5 has autofocus and manual settings, plus a much better BOKEH for front cam (ideal to have also for video…)? Mk4 front cam BOKEH shooting (64.1.A.0.891 version) is still so bad and really needs improvement by software upgrade. 3. Burned pixels for 1s speed in manual mode? Mk4’s still is suffering by this issue even with the latest upgrade, and now it’s almost one year from its release... 4. Filming in low light spaces like in a club with chaotic lights do mk5 has a better flash LED for it, face/eye detection, or it has better low light brightness for the wide sensor (at least)? Mk4 filming in dark spaces is a nightmare and its LED intensity is a joke, also the brightness is low by software processing only by HDR is somewhat ok (cinematic is useless for that dark in mk4). 5. It has brighter screen than mk4? 6. How much ISO it uses for night or low light shots? 7. Do you know an e-mail address for sending directly to Sony engineers for our testing or issues? So without all these the issues above not being fixed, the Xperia 1/5 devices are still very expensive and mk4 is hard to get still. Also, I have been using as a secondary phone the ACE 3 DOCOMO (SO-53C) device, brought by a friend of mine from Japan, and that SO-53C allows Gcam mods to apply so well that its 5 and 13 MP cameras can be improved to even better the mk4’s and more others Xperia! So please let Sony know that mk4 and mk5 really needs this Api2 front and rear compatibility for the money they still ask... With great admiration for you and Sony's amazing capacity to improve, Thank you so much for helping and answering!
Conflicted, half the videos are like yours where the basic point-and-shot mode renders fantastic results and then others, not so much... I'm a photographer and whilst I can really appreciate the manual modes on this phone I really do just want something which can render images fast, simply and decently like your demonstration did... otherwise I would just stick to my dedicated cameras. Your video has pushed me back into the want-to-buy camp... hopefully I wont be disappointed!
I'm using Galaxy S23 Ultra, but I definitely want to upgrade to the new Sony Xperia 1V :) Great video by the way. I just wished the video quality of the Xperia 1V could have been somewhat brighter.

It is my main EDC, about 95% of the time, the other 4 is my nothing phone 1 and then my fold3. But thinking of getting a oneplus 11 because of those leica filters as a second phone, like others have mentioned the upgrades specially in thermals is big. I live in SoCal and I've had to learn to use my x1iv without a case because I couldn't record video in 4k for longer than 5-6 minutes before it shutdown and absolutely destroys my battery.
This video made by you makes everyone now understand the real capabilities of the camera of this thousand $ phone, and even myself having thought to buy this phone for my small videography gallery on my Instagram lol , very great camera review and test 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice colors. For someone who know how to use these cameras, can beat hell out of s23U and IP14M. If you tested the portret mode of the camera, please tell me how the bokeh are. Allso i haven't see the background blur on some shoots. I will be geateful if you make a video about bokeh on this phone. I think this phone will be the top 5 flagships of the year.
The biggest thing holding back this camera is the same thing holding back every phone camera; these high quality sensors are only being paired with the main lens which is generally relatively wide. The focal length is decent for most situations, but it really struggles with portraiture. Judging from these shots, you have to get fairly far from your subject to really avoid any noticeable distortion, and at that point it's feeling too wide for even most environmental portraiture. Someone needs to take sensors like this and put it behind something like a 50mm equivalent, even 35mm would be an improvement.
I can't believe the footage isn't post processed, looks absolutely stunning straight out of the camera paired with a stunning model :D

- Give us the ability to shoot RAW on basic mode + the new night mode
- (If they haven't already) fix the low light raw color circle + softness problem
- Increase the telephoto's optical zoom range (there was a rumor about a 70-200mm module but it seems it was false or didn't make it in the device)
- Add clipping zebras for both highlights and shadow areas on all camera apps
- Give us the option for a digital button instead of the shutter button on advanced modes (I wouldn't prefer it over a physical shutter button, that's a huge selling point, but this way you can use intervalometer apps, which is HUGE for someone like me who's into astrophotography)
That's about it. I'm very impressed and looking forward to see this sensor tech spread. Another creator made a video that included a 2000 ISO jpeg shot in late twillight and it blew my mind how there was basically no visible noise at all. If I go over 200 ISO on my 5 III noise creeps in really fast.
Acabo de descubrir este canal porque soy fanatico de Sony, y me encantó el contenido, nuevo sub 🎉
Thank you!!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video :)
When smartphone cameras got good enough, I loved having a smartphone that had a capable camera with me (my favourite was the Huawei P60 Pro, I found it had incredible dynamic range) Interestingly I've only ever owned 2 'Sony' phones, the Sony Ericsson P900 and the Sony Ericsson W200i (DEFINITELY showing my age lol)
But the last few years, I got phones that dealt more with computational photography and achieved good results as a quick point and shoot.
The Kohki and Irina vids are my favorite
Thank youu🚀✨
This was amazingly shot! Awesome demonstration
She so cute that everyones forget about the phone, whe're here for the xperia. The cutest Instagram model i have seen. ❤
Just preordered. Upgrading from the 1 III. Sony phones are underrated
Irina 💚 Kohki 🖤 Xperia
Damn, such a good camera on a phone, this is too good, the colour is really punchy but in natural way, with a good skill and a nice spot, nothing can stop sony 🥰
This is so beautiful ! Waiting for Xperia 5V.
That was great upgrade on the camera and video.. must get
Thank you! Yes it’s a great year to upgrade for sure. Even if you have the 1 IV
I got the S23 Ultra and even I'm tempted to try this thing out.
Finally back 🙌 and with Irina 👌🏽
Yesssss👍🏼🚀
really nice shots🤩
Dearest Ko,
We are many Xperia fans around the world, mostly in Europe, and we are really appreciative for the work you are doing with Sony devices.
So, my questions for you and Sony if they read your fan's, are:
With great admiration for you and Sony's amazing capacity to improve,
Thank you so much for helping and answering!
That xperia 1V talks by itself. The colours are so rich and accurate.
Getting it for sure. Xperia 5 III here
Those colors mind blowing
Yess one of the best things about Sony!
Really impressive results 👍🏼
Thank you very much!
I think it just goes to show how a good photographer can use any decent camera, and take great photos
Okay this quality is sick and I love how the colors are so real :D Irina did such a great job in modeling tho
Khoki's intro video is epic 😊
Really enjoyed the video! Super raw and genuine, also love how the photos turned out with Irina. She is an amazing model (:
This S-Cinetone is really good.
shes beautiful. and shes perfect for making these type of videos, especially with a Sony camera!
kohki 🤝 irina combo 💥
🖤🖤🖤
The creativity of the user still required to get full potential of this phone.. and this how it works.. nice demo..❤❤❤
I'm using Galaxy S23 Ultra, but I definitely want to upgrade to the new Sony Xperia 1V :)
Great video by the way. I just wished the video quality of the Xperia 1V could have been somewhat brighter.
I think you will love it!
You can change the exposure setting to match however you’d like. I usually prefer to darken (-0.5) AE but you can change that easily
A very big THANK, to you, dear, Kohki for this excellent presentation of the new Sony Xperia 1 V! Much help to find out how this new mobile is working in the field of video and photographing! Wishing you both all the best! Friendly greetings from Sweden!
Now now king in the world's Sony Xperia 1 v smartphone. Best photographer and better job... Thanks bro 🙂 i more impressive this video.
You are stunning. Unbeliveable out of the camera footages and photos. You absolutely pulled out great performances from this phone.
omg those results are pretty impressive!
Sony xperia fan here❤ nice video kohki😁
Will definitely upgrade to the 1 V!!!
And really nice photos of Irina👍
Omg i didn't know about the look-out in Yokohama but i think I've seen it from the tower. What a cool looking place and it looked fantastic on the new Xperia. I'm planning to buy one when it's cheaper (maybe black friday).
This is amazing! 🔥
Thank you!!
i been with pixel since day 1 .. i might switch to sony this time around .. totally impressed, waiting for reviews lets see .. thanks for the upload
As always amazing video and amazing photos! Always happy to see new videos!
Just curious how did met Irina ? Kinda interested in story :D
Irina is a dream
I love everything about it, the model, the camera, especially S Cinatone. I love good video quality and cinematic, wish i could have one🫡
great with all the improvements and also even nicer with the lower starting price... i love what i see with it, but still a bit out of my budget... as for my current phone is the pixel 7 pro. very nice device... but really miss all these manual controls... they are awesome... and also hats off to the 120fps great video.
made up my mind .. my next phone hehe .. im still using Xperia 5 Mark 1 .. excited to this Xperia 1 mark V !!!
Damn!! This looks something out of a sony APSC camera or something. Mind Blown!!!
Footage looks stunning! Love the colors, thanks for the helpful demo :)
Great video Kohki!
Thank youuuu
It is my main EDC, about 95% of the time, the other 4 is my nothing phone 1 and then my fold3. But thinking of getting a oneplus 11 because of those leica filters as a second phone, like others have mentioned the upgrades specially in thermals is big. I live in SoCal and I've had to learn to use my x1iv without a case because I couldn't record video in 4k for longer than 5-6 minutes before it shutdown and absolutely destroys my battery.
I'm using 1 II and thinking of this 1 V now. hope the price is good
Oh I think it’s a great time to upgrade!
It’s a big upgrade even coming from the 1 IV
Looks great. I dont need spec reads. Just want to see what it can do.
Thanks for this.
Thank you! I appreciate it🙇🏻♂️✨🚀
The colour grading on the video is wild
Yo utilizo el Xperia 1 iii y este nuevo me ha dejado muy sorprendido 😮
🔥🔥Sony did the right thing with this phone
Beautiful video 💐💐💐👏👏👏
Like to see some Astrophotography with this phone. Good video bruv
The 30fps put together looked like a video omg that was so cool
Irina plus Sony camera phone = woah
really nice walkthru, lovely model too. haven't own any sony phones since the xperia z...
pretty good vlogs, pretty informative, good job!
The quality so good. Finally sony beat the iphone
Sony Nailed it this time
This video made by you makes everyone now understand the real capabilities of the camera of this thousand $ phone, and even myself having thought to buy this phone for my small videography gallery on my Instagram lol , very great camera review and test 👍👍👍👍👍👍
やるじゃんジジー🔥 Came out great! ジジー x イリナ
サンクスジジー when’s your video coming out lol
Love the thumbnail for this vid!
Awesome 👍👍 I'm having a hard time finding an Xperia. But I will 😂 Hi Irina 🎉🎉🎉 Great job🎉🎉🎉

okiii .. sony is bringing the 1 incher ... it s on my list!!!looking only at sony , samsung or the pixel
Great review video! ❤
Best video I've seen yet!
Thank youuu!
