    Thanks Travis. Can you provide us more techniques for shorter guys?
    For example, shorter guys against taller and beefier guys? Our coach says that only footwork can work against this type of players.

      Well that’s just not true there are a lot of throws that can work against taller opponents

      @JSL Thank a lot , you are talking like a trainer :-) or at least a very experienced player. It is really very difficult for me (172 cm) to apply osoto-garis, harai-goshis e.t.c. to bigger opponents but what i have found is that sutemi in general fit more for me as well as tani- otoshi especially as counter technique. And as you very nicely explain the near-side leg that ends up in ken-ken. Kudos for your answer.

      Actually being shorter has the advantage of you being able to get underneath your opponents center of gravity As someone else said seionage and the technique shown in this video will suit you fine.

    Totally !
    There´s a 1,60 mts guys that was my sensei too and has a great kouchi makekomi, can escape his seoi nage but when combines with kouchi is hard to escape.

    I used this while doing a stand up from turtle in my no gi class I put my head and arm through slammed him through the mat hard but the way I think of it now is putting the head and arm through is a no no for mma and bjj as they can establish hooks and you no longer control the opposite side of the body so you would have to grab over his waist or his far side face could you confirm this for me or give me some insight how you would go about it? I got rnc when I used this technique in this manor. By a whitebelt lol

    I have seen this be very successful in Judo but what do u do to stop them from taking ur back after I feel would be major issue in bjj if cant?

    • @robystephon
      @robystephon 2 роки тому +1

      The best advice I can give is to move as soon as you and your partner hit the ground. Unlike judo when the match will be stopped for an ippon, you want to immediately move into a dominant position. Best position would be to grab the arm and go to scarf hold or arm triangle before they can grip to go for RNC. If you’re quick enough the shock of the takedown may give you advantage to go to half guard or mount

      You have to have propper kuzushi. Many current Judo people don't know shit about kuzushi. So, they rely on sutemi (sacrifice) throws because of it. If you properly take the guy's balance he won't be able to take your back. I've had many guys think they can get to my back and I let them and they fall right into my O-goshi. It's really slick and suprises the shit out of them.

    He's stepping way to far away, especially with his left foot,. This is slowing him way down. It's why he has to step so deep into the guy to ensure his throw will have a chance and why he has to do Makikomi. Take a slight "shallow" step back with your toe on the line (you can just turn it in place) and the left leg makes a nice "L" pointing down the line up against your other foot. Let the guy step forward naturally and then do the reap. You won't need a to do makikomi then and the throw will be way more slick and the dude won't know what happened.
