Highly recommend the tape machine plugins! Heavy on CPU but they sound incredible, especially on drums, bass and the master.

Great episode! It’s good to see Jared on the show. I saw him years ago in a tiny bar in Madrid, he was promoting his first album where I think this track comes from. Interesting to know that you co wrote it :) We had a beer after the gig and chatted for a while.

Two and a half minutes in I dl'd the multitracks. Sometimes you listen to a track and wonder what on earth you can do with it. Other times you want to leap right in before you've even got to the

Hey Warren. Just rewatched this. Very helpful! I would love to see how you might use IK's Modo Drums to get a convincing sound. While I play guitar, bass, and keys, I'm not a drummer (nor can I afford a kit). This means I rely on Modo Drums for my purcussion. I'm sure many other bedroom producers do something similar. Would be great to see how you would put Modo Drums or EZ drummer to use in a mix. Thanks for all that you do!

With the Lurssen Console, click the button to the right of the logo. That will open up the window to show you what it's doing: Compressing, De-essing, Limiting, Etc.

Another great song and video Warren. Just a quick question, I can never find any licensing info on the free multitracks, are they only for personal use or can we use them for say tutorials or to show clients mixing skills assuming proper recognition of original sources.
You can use them for your own promotion, you cannot of course sell the music, that belongs to Jared and his label! Many thanks, Warren

Mic pulled back to get an over all sound. Wear headphones and move the mic to the position you love the most

Stupid question, but could you give more information about that speaker microphone you mention?
Sorry! Just saw this! A dynamic mic and a speaker are essentially the same things in reverse! So you can use a speaker as a mic, I typically have it going into a DI box. There are several people that make this already! The NS10 is the most famous use of this technique
I am doing marvellously well. I recently started the daunting task of trying to recreate a portion of a song (only 2 bars) not musically of course that is important, but rather from a mix standpoint, trying to match the kick, the hats, guitar and bass and so on, so faithfully that it nulls. I don't if its possible but even 50% of the way there is remarkeable i think. Do you think you could isolate a particular instrument from an iconic song, like a kick drum , and recreate from start to final master in a tutorial video.

@49:00 when he's looping the tune, the arrangement is actually WAY hipper. He accidentally cuts off the last two beats of the final measure, making it a measure of 2/4 and the riff going into the top of form is really cool without beats 3 and 4! Should keep it that way!

Just want to clear something up that slightly mangles my wurzel: - when you describe a plug-in as being "like an SSL", you mean it's it's a mixer channel style EQ? It sounds a bit like calling a vacuum clear a "Hoover". Are you being more specific in saying that this British Channel is specifically attempting to replicate the plug-in made by SSL?
I’m not entirely sure I understand the Hoover analogy? Haha these Plug Ins emulate hardware not other Plug Ins. So yes, the SSL hardware, the channel strip plug in is emulating the channel strip hardware.

Lots of people do this on UA-cam but their mix sounds like trash. Maybe you know which people I mean. They are knowledgeable, but I'm just not impressed with the results. Right? Warren is an amazing mixer.

There's a lot of us home recordists, just cannot afford industry standard equipment and the prices for some of the 'required' plugins, are TBH, a piss take.
At least Reaper comes with all the required plugins (obviously, you can add external plugins).
Hi Chris, the plug ins I'm using have plenty of equivalents in any DAW. I can think of at least DAW's that have an 1176 emulation for example, plus even if you don't have those particular plug ins you can emulate them with anything you have to hand.
