      No people comment because it's a UA-cam channel and they open up the comment section . As such they will recive positive and negative comments regardless of the topic at hand like any channel . They could just turn off the comments with a single push of a button but they don't because it drives viewership ie traffic which drives up revenue for them .I am glad they respond to criticism like they do here and explain why they have decided to do or not to do things like they have here.. The real issue is snowflakes like the above posters who can't stand even the slightest critical comment with out launching into adhomen attacks or portraying themselves or HTF as victims like so many snowflakes in our society today . Suck it up butter cup HTF are big boys they can handle it without your whinging and whineing .

    Look, I’m behind you guys 100% regardless the entertainment value is awesome. But I see the hesitation in Jonathan‘s voice. I hear the hesitation in Jonathan‘s voice if you want to get good at something you practice why do football teams do it they practice if you’re only driving a weekend every other weekend that ain’t good enough. If you guys are happy with the value that you put out then don’t worry about what people say but if you want to get better you need to test it’s common sense. But regardless, I think you guys are great keep up the good work. Glory to GOD!

    Can you really have a valuable testing session on a virgin track? Unless you’re testing on a Sunday after a weekend of racing I’m not sure how much information you’re getting that could be applied to a race night. (This isn’t asphalt) With that said, obviously, all the testing in the world is more valuable than not testing if funds and time isn’t an issue.
    The crew chief discussion is laughable. This a family race team that’s done an amazing job at building a brand and entertainment channel. This isn’t a series Charter team with a million dollar a year budget. Chill out guys

    You guys are the most transparent team I have ever watched on UA-cam!!! Your not just a race team!!!
    How many other racing teams start their own series for others like themselves and in the second year draw the attention and support that HTF receives.
    There is no team out there running their own series plus racing plus vlogging plus podcasting plus merchandising plus racing support classes plus owning a full time stable plus, plus, plus.
    Whether you realize this or not you are doing something that no one else is doing.
    Lucas
    World of Outlaws
    HTF
    Thats what you have created and you have a lot to hang your hat on. Keep up the great work.
    People love to be entertained and more than being entertained others love to criticize!!!!!

      @jonkluver7912 I couldn't tell you but I would guess for them to haul to a track (which all tracks a different and so are the gears used ,camber, tires and pressure) as you said rent the track, pay EMS to standby as there are no laps without an ambulance present , wear on the motor, tires, fluids etc etc I cannot believe it's a lick under 10k so really hotlaps are where they test "free" but again iam not a crew chief just a hack stocker driver back in the day

    • @firstname6208

      Here's just a common man's take on this. Can't capital rent a track for a couple days and several teams come test with some capital engineers to assist ? You are running their brand on a national level with social and TV exposure. It would behoove them to help, no? Any engineer that has any experience knows how to test many things (unrelated) per test session. You get results faster and better results you can use. Data acquisition is a must. Think outside the box or run mid pack.

  • @MFR327
    @MFR327 6 місяців тому +7

    $2000 is ALOT to rent a track. Granted being from South Carolina our facilities aren't near as nice but if I'm not mistaken 4 hours of testing at our local track is 450 bucks and most people bring 4 people to help level the costs. The main use for test sessions for us was to always test stuff we would never try during a race night because we don't want to mess up any chance at a good finish by trying random off the wall stuff. Testing is a good or bad thing. You will burn up equipment and spend money, but in the chance you find something that puts you in a new speed bracket is worth while.

    I think you guys should save the testing to "A" the big money races and "B" to the newer tracks that you have been to only once. That will save lap count on motors, but im sure it will help the setup book for that track. Race days and open practice is tough for setup work because the track changes so much in that short time. Kinda always chasing tail when it's like that and not making good notes. I love the way you guys just do you. Mad respect. But HTF doesn't constantly non-consensually proselytize in front of the camera the way a majority of religious folks do, so I don't mind giving them my patronage. If you keep your personal religion and politics in private, and you like racing, we'll get along just fine.

For the level of drivers you drew to your series is no joke. Maybe get a modified to race on your of time and more 604 races. You said it. Testing a few times a year to try things out of your comfort zone. The more you try, the more you learn.
    Does Longhorn have a chassis setup school? Does anyone?
    I’m just an armchair fan, part-time racer via iRacing. I know very little about setups, but the fact y’all bring testing up, and talk about it is a good step forward.
    One other thing. Aero, you guys had a podcast on this subject. I notice little thing certain drivers do to the bodies. Like that big curve on the right side on Overton’s sheet metal. Like a giant air scoop, that’s shaped like a dozer blade.

      Yes there are setup schools or at least 1 that I've seen, if not many more. Don't know what the manufactures do/have, but if you follow Tim Nash on Ole No 7 Garage he and his brother in-law Gary Gross went to one couple or so months ago (Gary's 2nd time going), but I can't remember the name of it. They filmed the trip there and the non-classroom stuff during it, but not the actual class part itself. Felt people should do like they did and pay to go to the school like everyone else. Not sure how good they are but they are there.

    I'm way late to the conversation. Testing is great if you can afford it, but for people without a cubic dollar budget, the answer is race more. You won't get as many clean laps, but how often do you have clean laps in racing? How often is the track going to be the same condition?
    At least when you're doing more racing, you'll get something if you make the show. There's no pay window at a test. You're putting laps on the equipment either way and you can still wall a car while testing.

    I feel, just my opinion with no skin in the game, that it'd be a benefit to have someone from Longhorn come test with you for a day or two. Whether that's feasible or not I don't know. You have ran into a ton of bad luck lately which is contributing to the results. Also it might need to go to a one car team instead of tossing Jesse in a Super so you're fully committed? Once again my opinion, I'm still watching you guys and love the content. Good Luck this year.

    The people making those comments don’t realize there’s about 4 different types of budget classes in Super racing. You have local guys that just afford the stuff that race at a couple tracks against other locals with older equipment. Regional, where you stay in your area, race at more tracks, have a couple volunteers on the crew, somewhat new equipment. Traveling lite, where you try and travel with the top series but don’t have a crew chief but some crew members and the equipment to complete. Then the top that has it all plus more. Idk if it’s yall being on UA-cam or what it is with these fans but they think yall are in that top portion and it’s just not possible to do if you run with a certain budget, even if the talent is there. 12 years ago I could run with Billy Moyer Jr at certain tracks with his full crew and it just me, my dad, and one helper, but other places I couldn’t as the budget started to shine.

      Good point. People are also forgetting that beyond Jordan, everyone else on that team has video/series management responsibilities for internet content (twitch gaming, patreon vids and a podcast) as well as a small crew race team - since HTF's other enterprises are key to funding the team in general, there's only so much they can do. You're dead on, people make assumptions, but all of this is work and I'm sure their families, as involved as they are have needs as well. :) Good discussion. I remember the first time I saw Billy Moyer, back in the transition to wedge cars from stock late models, competing on a budget has always been a huge issue in dirt track late model racing. That struggle could fill a book.

    I just want to say that every driver and team have off races where they don't perform or finish well. The track is NEVER GOING TO BE THE SAME TWICE even if y'all went to test, it's still a roll of the dice and a gamble and it's going to cost unless you get a huge boost from sponsors and the sponsors cover the cost instead of it coming out of y'all's pockets!!! Something to think about. And that's just my opinion. I know Clay Millican with his top fuel team have tons of sponsors that allow him to test and have multiple motors and parts and if it wasn't for the sponsors,he wouldn't be as good as he is but even with his testing and crew chief,he still has times where the car just doesn't work or go as fast as it's capable of going. Just keep on keeping on and being y'all. It will get better. Promise!!!🏁🏆🏁💞🤗💞🌟🌟

    Let me start off by saying that I love the whole HTF Team/Family!!! I offer up one possible alternative to what was discussed in this video. I believe that Donnie Moran offers his time and facilites (for a price) up in southern Ohio to help educate racers on how to step up their respective racing program. I saw it in an interview with his son, Devin, a year or two ago with "The History Mystery Man". Please do not take my word for it, but give Donnie Moran a call and find out what he can offer you and what it will cost. It seemed like it lasted for a couple 2-3 days and he explains why teams do the things that they do to improve speed and performance. Possibly a lot of your viewers would be willing to chip in $20 a piece to help with the cost. I would be willing to do that for sure. Best Wishes!!!

(Track rental, engine wear, crew pay, fuel cost) is it worth the purse your racing for? It all cost money. Me as a spectator going to watch a 4 hour’s of entertainment. I don’t see the benefit of the price of admission. Cause, the admission is getting out of my income range. I’ll just get my fix at watching ya’ll on UA-cam. Keep up the great work. And Jessie. So what I see I'm impressed. I'm almost 40 and I've grown up in racing. Never made it racing to late models but I worked on a super team in the Lucas series when I was younger. I'm a long-time follower of the channel, I enjoy the content and the racing. I'd really like to see you have more success against the Overtons, Erbs, Fergusons, Hedgecocks and other "tour teams" and your so close some nights! This may have already been answered and I missed it. Are there schools/classes/seminars available on chassis set-up and tuning? If so, does it make sense for one or two of your current team members to attend such training? It seems to me you don't have to be an "engineer" to learn how to set up cars it's a matter of learning the in's and out's of making adjustments and getting the car/chassis in balance. I may be over-simplifying things and at the same time it may be a way to make that next step without having to spend time, effort and money find and hire a crew chief.

    You have to test when your a team like y’all have. Y’all show up on race day and don’t really no how to setup for changing track conditions. That’s not a knock on y’all it’s hard to learn when you run 1 night a week or every 2 weeks. You have the best equipment now so you should be serious about winning or running top 5 . It’s not much fun being a field filler or getting start money. Joesph is as good of a driver as most of the top 10 guys. So it’s not his driving. He can’t drive it if it’s not hooked up. Like last weekend getting lapped.That’s were Testing will pay dividends. You test to learn. Make changes on the front , the rear, air pressure,stagger everything on car and see what it does to it. Long Horn gives you a baseline. It’s up to y’all to go from there. You can’t show up at a track and hope you luck up and get the setup.Everybody’s to good now for guessing . You got to no what changes to make. Y’all are either really good or really bad. There’s no middle ground. Y’all have to get that knowledge from testing and quit talking and asking other teams because they will lie and have you so screwed up you can’t get out of your own way. Y’all should be running top 10 every week with all the parts and pieces y’all have now. You’ll never be front runners unless you test and learn from it each lap .Testing will pay for its self in winnings if it’s done with a purpose and not just ride in circles. Every one wants to see Joesph running up front and winning and he can he has the talent run with those guys. Test Test Test

    Host 5 or 6 HTF testing session for you and other teams. Have the other teams agree for you to video and create content for UA-cam and Huntthefront TV. Make your money off of the content and pay for the testing that way. Or maybe get a sponsor for those videos. Easy for me to say because I have no idea how to create anything on UA-cam and I do not have my own racing series or television streaming platform or a race car. I drive a 2015 Honda Accord, watch your videos and now I think I am a genius!

    I doubt this will be seen by HTF, but I watched this vid about what you guys need to do to be better. Hiring a Crew Chief is not realistic and Testing can get expensive. I agree. But you can do more in your shop. I recommend getting set up plates from Hammond Motorsports and start doing more chassis setup in your shop. Both Front and Rear. I don't represent the business. But those are very useful to preparing your cars before ever heading to a Track. Just a suggestion.

  • @Ryan_H22
    @Ryan_H22 6 місяців тому

    Testing is where you can throw the kitchen sink at the car and see how it reacts. Want to try something totally off the wall and see how the car reacts? Testing is the time to do it. Bar angle, ride height, bird cage angle, pinion angles, spring / shock combinations, weight percentages, anything. You can learn a lot in testing you can't learn racing. If you spend a full day you can test various combinations across changing track conditions and then have that information available when you're actually racing. Pages and pages of notes and numbers. Write everything down. All that information travels with you and when you're actually racing and track is going slick, taking rubber, etc and the car feels a certain way you'll have good information what combination worked and what didn't work. It's not a cheap day or two but making a couple big shows because you knew what to do with the car instead of just guessing can pay for that day.

  • @scottfrank3520
    @scottfrank3520 6 місяців тому

    The largest problem what you are not understanding is that we the viewers keep seeing you all scratching your heads when the track changes.
    Would an experienced crew chief be benificial....yes and no.......yes only if they have specific knowledge of the chassis and tracks that you are running on........If they do not have this experience than they are as useless as Jesse picking at his beard(sarcasm) when he has no input as to what changes will benefit the car for the changing track conditions.
    Ultimately the team has changed chassis twice since i began watching your journey. Changing chassis is like learning an entire new language. Learning these changes are exactly where you all are at least in my opinion failing. You need two setup books. One book for track information........what works, what does not and what you needed to do to chase the track changes. The second book is your racing base book. This second book is the important book and even after all your videos I personally have not seen you all even attempt to figure out the Capital and now the Longhorn chassis. You need to understand what every hole and adjuster on the chassis does to the car on the track from one extreme to the other. Start with the left front and continue around the car until you know what each and every hole does individually. Caster/Camber/Toe-in Toe-out/4-Link positions/J-bar/ect ect ect. Is it going to take some time to do this yes, but at the end when you have this information you will know what to specifically do when you see the track is tightening or loosening up as the night goes on. You can go to this book and review it and know that this move tightened the car up on a moderate slick track or this move allowed the car to rotate quicker or slower. These are just examples. Right now you all are making wholesale adjustments and just hoping you guessed correctly. Why guess? Guessing is only wasting time. Figure out what does what and put it in the book for reference. Shock adjustments are your fine tuning adjustments. I see you all adjusting shocks like they are going to make monster changes in how the car runs. They do not. They fine tune the chassis.....Get the car close with bar movements and than fine tune it by adjusting the shocks.
    Reading comments and comprehending them are two different things. When I got out of crewing on race cars some 20+ years ago we did the same thing. Test the extremes and learn to adjust the cars. Yes the cars have changed a ton, but the one thing that has not changed is the teams that put in the time to learn their chassis are also the teams that win more consistently. I am not here trying to bash your operation or honestly JJ's talent. I want to see you optimize what you have and succeed on the track. Take the time and test, but don't just test to say you tested.

    Since y'all are not a fully funded race team I would say you should just try to make sure Joseph is getting time in the car. Make your schedule subject to change and hit local tracks or smaller events instead of constantly trying these major events that get rained out. I know y'all are working hard to make things work, pay the bills, ect. Keep doing what you do but the more Joseph is in that car running no matter where it is, will make a big difference in better results. Look at the years y'all won these big events for example. You were racing a lot of races those years.
