If you are put off by the slower running speed, go to the 3 dots in the top right hand corner of your screen or cog and go to playback speed and click on 1.25x
I Reckon Walker did what he suggested in his letter and sent a couple of bottles of scotch to GHQ. Then Colonel Pritchard, Captain Bailly and Captain Square, got pissed and decided Captain Mainwaring was a good egg, and granted him his commission!! Well done Walker
What I loved about this was it showed not only Captain Maunering's strength of character but Wilson's to as Wilson was happy to see Maunering busted down to Luietant as he believed it was good to chip away at his arrogance and ego but when he was busted down to Private Wilson had a great deal of Empathy and treated him with respect still. I think it would have been interesting to see Maunwaring stay as a Luietant for a while though.
Actually, it`s nice to see the original... although it`s perhaps smaller than expected. It`s better to keep a head of things. 😄 Incidentally... altering the sound track up to 1.25 in settings helped.
Captain Bailey was played by actor John Ringham who played Norman Warrender in the 80s comedy "Just Good Friends" written byJohn Sullivan who also wrote "Only Fools and Horses". He played the father of one of the main characters Penny Warender played by actress Jan Francis. John Ringham also appears in the very first episode of Dads Army titled "The man,the hour", as one of the first recruits that answered the call to join the "Local defence volunteers" the original name of what became the" Home Guard".
Mainwaring had no right or qualification to appoint himself 'captain' when others were far more qualified.Great to see such a pompous arrogant sod with ideas above his station get his comeuppance!Love the show nevertheless since childhood 😂
Love this old show
Such a great cast and of course the writing genius of the scriptwriters.
Godfrey "excuse me, would you mind repeating that " 🤣🤣

Loool
Great writer n actors , what a load of shit we got nowadays
I'm watching this whilst having a very pleasant dump , I'm very content
Might not even wipe my bottom
Early BBC attempts to rewrite history and trivialise brave men, all cloaked in comedy
the drill sargeant just kills it in this episode you can clearly see people trying to not break character and laugh
