What an expository and mind-blowing interview. I love this. I agree with the interviewer on the Igbos building their homes and electing good leaders. Yes, PDP ruled Abia State for about 16 years, but it will be unfair to blame Abians for that, knowing full well that INEC has not lived up to expectations. Blaming Abians is analogous to blaming Nigerians for what happened in the last presidential election.
Yes, there's insecurity in Imo and Anambra. But I think we always try to blow it out of proportion. There are far worse States and they don't even receive the sort of media attacks that are received in Imo and Anambra. The reason for the insecurity in some parts of the East is not a mystery and would soon be a thing of the past.
I also agree with some of the points by Mr. David. The tie between the Igbos and Yorubas may be threatened by Biafra, but this is not a genuine reason for the Igbos to live in a country where they are always sidelined in the aftermath of the civil war.
For record purposes, Ojukwu's initial intention was not to form a separate country outside of Nigeria. In fact, he gave the Nigerian government a guide that will ensure the economic independence of the various regions leading to the utilization of resources therein. This means that oil and gas would no longer be our major source of generating revenue. This is what the Aburi Accords is all about, and if you think about it, it would have made a lot of sense.
But Gowon rejected this proposal after signing it for reasons best known to him. Coupled with the post coup coordinated wanton killings of the Igbos in the North without any significant condemnation from the Yorubas, Ojukwu declared Biafra, and the Nigerian troops came to the East (present-day south east and south south) to fight him and his prople. Some people may have other versions of the story, but the fact remains that Biafra never wanted a country of their own initially.
So let's play the "bond or tie game" here. Nigerians do business with people in Benin Republic without issues. Nigerians marry outside of Nigeria, give birth to children, and still live in peace. The tie between the Igbos and the Yorubas is in no way a reason for me to live under subjugation without hope for freedom.

On the issue Mr. Hundeyin raised about outlining a roadmap for the IPOB movement… To be fair, MNK has always been crystal clear on his organization’s demands for a sovereign referendum. He subscribes to the non-violent principles of Gandhi and Dr. King. He has committed no crimes known to law as several courts both municipal and international have upheld his innocence. The unrest we’re witnessing in Igboland are the political machinations of the powers that be in Nigeria.
FYI, MNK wrote a letter(which I have a copy of) to all executive and legislative office holders (governors and reps alike) in the SE and SS urging them to emulate the SW in forming a regional security network back in 2020. It was their abdication of duty that led him to form ESN in nipping the armed herdsmen menace in the bud. Self defense is still not a crime the last time I checked.
2. ECOWAS is an already existing solution to the issue of interdependency between the Igbo and Yoruba nations; per adventure Biafra is to be restored-with the free movement of people, goods and services - the ECOWAS framework will suffice!
Having said that, David’s position is spot on.
We need more discussions like this. We need to really encourage intellectual discussions/debates on tropical issues in Nigeria and not leave these issues for sycophants to use to pitch us against each other for selfish personal political gains

That doesn't make sense. The roadmap should come first. You can't be raising funds to buy guns and amunitions to fight against the government because you feel you're being marginalized. Yet, your home land lacks schools, hospitals and clean water. They should have used those funds to build schools, hospitals, and bore holes. If they had done this instead, they would have won the support of the masses.

I agree with some of the points made I recommend all Igbos to read the book There was a Country by Chinua Achebe and give it to their children when they are in Senior Secondary. The book is a revelation of the Igbo reality in Nigeria.
I was one of those who said Kalu didn’t have a roadmap at the beginning even though what he was saying was mostly true, I cannot remember any new country created since after WWII without the support from a country in the UN Security Council. But we can not blame Kalu if Igbo intellectuals and elites have not stood up for their people and raise their voice against the imposition of charlatans in government to destroy a region that is already marginalized by the federal government.

You don't need the UN security council. The only country you need is the United States and others will follow. The way you get the US support is to give some guarantees that their interests will be protected or even made better. What is the US interest? Their interests are the American companies doing business in Nigeria, like Chevron etc and that includes European companies too. It requires more underground work and less noise making like IPOB is doing. A good start was after they tried to kill MNK and he ran away, many of our people in the US told him to seek refuge status or political asylum in the US instead of staying in Britain but I think he declined. There are some US Senators and house of rep members who would had served as a guarantor. If he had stayed in the US, he would have become a citizen after getting a green card. I can guarantee you that if MNK had traveled with a US green card or US passport, even if he traveled to Togo, the DSS will not dare touch him not to talk of kidnapping him. America doesn't joke. If he had stayed in the US, he would had been closer to the real world power brokers and certain access would have been made available to him. Trump Presidency would had benefited the struggle a lot. Remember, a US senator took to one of the Trump rallies in 2016 and they were seating in the front row behind the podium that Trump spoke from. Do you know why that from row behind the podium is important, because when Trump finished speaking and turn around to shake hands, they are well positioned to shake hands with him. And in the means of shaking that hands, and since he was seating there with a Senator, Trump will shake hands with the senator and that's when the senator will introduce MNK briefly starting a conversation that will be continued later. This is just a tip of the iceberg. One problem that Ojukwu had and MNK also had is being overly stubborn, which prevents them from listening to people and being a little bit flexible. The work that needed to be done to get Biafra is mostly quiet underground work, not protest. The only country you need to get Biafra is the United States. America controls Europe including UK and major parts of Asia in the sense that if America tell them to stand, they will stand. In America, you have access to the Council of Foreign Relations and the Bilderberg Group in addition to the US government. Forget the United Nation. These are the real United Nations. If MNK had agreed to stay in the US, things would had been different. Besides, Britain supported Nigeria against Biafra, so it just common sense to know that the UK is not the place to fight for Biafra. They will watch you and have MI6 tap your phone and listen to all your phone calls. I believe that it was the British government that sabotage MNK in Kenya and tell the DSS was in Kenya. They tracked him using the microchip in the UK passport MNk used to travel there.
Most educated people don’t reflect their education in their states and local governments. For example, Ekiti and Anambra have the largest numbers of professors yet look at these two states

I'm igbo and I consider myself Nigerian than anything else. Reason why is because succession is never key to freedom. Time has passed when we should be talking about Biafra. If anything we should be discussing ways to unify African countries because together we're strong. I've always said this and I'm glad to see others having same reasoning.

Thank you David for your analysis, however I do not agreee with you on basis of your real challenge or not having a road map, you agree with me that their is a massive ill-fated against Ndi Igbo in Nigeria by FG and the Igbo phobia we have these days these days, and the Igbo people has been crying about it nothing happened. Now these agitators be it Biafra or Oduduwa are simply asking for Referendum to determine their fate of existence. The issue of marriage intercession is not enough reason, what are the percentage of these two issues you mentiond btw the East and the West! Scotland and the rest of the UK has nore of these than East and West yet they were given green light to ascertain that. What im saying is that FG needs to invest massively in the every part of the country to make people feel they belong.

I believe in Biafra 100%> Biafra is the greatest force for good in Africa, it is the only solution to African aspirations for dignity and material prosperity.

I am from Edo and that means am not Ibo or Yuroba. So, I will be very objective. David elaborated extensively on the glaring marginalization of the Ibos which no man can deny . But in my opinion, this has been deepened because the Ibos were outsmarted politically. When the agitation for Biafra under Kanu gathered steam , the political fortunes of the Ibos was further diminished because there was a call to boycott politics. Today, despite the shenanigan of INEC, a new political calculus was drawn by Peter Obi, with the support of the south south, northern Christian elements and his Ibo brothers. The lesson here is that, it isn’t over for the Ibos . With a bit more push, the sun will rise again over the east . Succession is not necessary the answer .

I agree with David on some points and I must admit his unbiasness which is one of the major reasons for my being one of not just his fans, but one of his followers.. David, there is every justifiable reason for Biafra to exist.. I bet you that the problems suffered already has solution drafted out by Nnamdi Kanu.. You wouldn't know because you don't listen to Nnamdi Kanu.. If u listen to him, you'll know that there are solutions already outlined for the problems.. Kanu is different from every other Activist or whosoever.. Biafra can still trade, intermarry and relate with the Yorubas normally and peacefully! If we need Biafra, we need to have a Biafran constitution for everyone igbo person to have access to. A 20 year development plan as well. This is the first step. We need a Biafra orientation Agency that will be on ground to expound on the nitty gritty of the above mentioned resources. Give it 3 years max. Biafra will come. A lot of his 'facts' are wrong. Yoruba + Ibos are NOT the most married Inter-Tribal group in West Africa. Onitsha was not a better citing for Nigeria's steel factory than Ajaokuta; the Iron Ore deposits are actually more at a place called Itakpe. (his assumption that tribal politics was the reason for the shift is also wrong as well as disgusting because if he understood Nigeria well enough, he would understand that Kogi state isn't given any Political preference by any of the Geo-Political regions). The most profitable place to put the railway isn't Aba- PH (on this topic, is he aware that the move to put a rail in South-east was blocked by South-East PDP Senators because it would give the APC clout?) …. too many blunders in this piece for it to be taken seriously.
On the issue of Biafra, the War was needless and avoidable if the key players had been older, wiser and more experienced.
The republic of Biafra was never/still isn't a viable proposition or even a practical one. The pogroms for which it was called stopped over 40 years. Many Igbos have risen to key positions within the Nigerian state and plenty have amassed considerable wealth and influence as Nigerian citizens.
There is nothing the people of the South-East want to achieve for themselves that is not possible under the current Socio-Political arrangement if they are being sincere. I am yet to see South-East political leaders commit to an agenda for basic primary education, basic health care or road/rural infrastructure; these things do not require input from the Federal government - if they are unachievable under the current structure, they will be unachievable under a Biafran one!
Nigerian from ALL regions suffer from same thing: Indiscipline and Corruption. If each Nigerian citizen does not commit to working on this malaise, it doesn't matter how many parts you slice the country into.

Where around Onitsha is there Iron deposit? Aba - PH cant be the most profitable rail line if the only working Sea Port in Nigeria is in Lagos...any rail to/from Lagos would be most profitable (this is common sense)..I could go on.

Eastern Nigeria isnt known for Iron Ore deposits (Coal perhaps) so I dont see how/wy Onitsha would have been a preferred citing.
This by the way are secondary arguements because we are assuming Ajaokuta failed solely due to its location. This is false! David is good in his analysis but there are some things that he said that goes contrary to my opinion. If you said you have not seen any road map to Biafra does not mean that there is no road map today as we speak. If you talk about the relationship between the Igbos and the Yorubas, having a nation of Biafra and oduduwa will even make their relationship more better and stronger. At that time, no Yoruba will threaten any Igbo person with trowing him into the lagoon. No Yoruba will burn any Igbo business because he is participating in an election. No Yoruba will k1ll any Igbo because he voted for a candidate that is not of his choice. Basic tendencies of a nation, is culture, religion, language and value system. Whenever these basics are lost, there is no way you can build a peaceful country. How explain
I continue to say this: Biafra is a proposed means to and undefined end.
Reasonably, we should first define our end (our ultimate goals). And after that, we can devise a most reliable vehicle/means to transport us th that end.
Whether or not Biafra is the best or most reliable means isn't the most relevant question right now.
The most relevant question is:
What will the glorious Igbo land and Igbo people which will be our joy and our pride look like?
We must COMPREHENSIVELY answer this question FIRST before we can reasonably answer the second one.
The second one: How can we achieve the answer to the first answer? That is when the vehicle called Biafra will be x rayed.
I have great respect for David Hundeyin, but for him to argue that there is no road map to Biafra or that intermarriage between Igbos and Yorubas makes our quest any less dire is just untrue. We probably have more Ivorian and Camerounian wives in our land than Yoruba. We will cross that bridge in due time. Nnamdi Kanu is in prison today, kidnapped by the Nigerian state in order to 'teach' any potential agitators for Biafra a lesson. The legislatures at the feds can push for those things if they want to truly represent those that voted them into office. When Private business can push bills to favor themselves in the west, why can't elected legislatures push bills that can favor their people.

My dear, intermarriage means nothing serious. It simply means inlaws and that cannot prevent each being on their own independently. As for business, everyone knows that the reason why a large percentage of Igbo businesses reside in Lagos is because of the seaport there and that's why Nigerian government refused to repair seeports in the east, supported by some tribal Yoruba elites. The same goes with International airports. Again, that's not even a problem, if there is a state of Biafra, they will still be trading with Nigeria and the rest of Africa no matter what. All these are just flimsy excuses. Besides, I used to think there's a value in marriages between Yorubas and Igbos but after 2023 election, all of that means nothing to me and I won't allow it in my family. The reason is because 2023 showed me that the deep rooted hates Yorubas have for Igbos has no bounds. Imagine what they say about the guy guy who contested for governor under LP, simply because his mother was Igbo and he has one Igbo. I cannot imagine my grand children going through such hate simply because my daughter marries a Yoruba man. Even in politics, there are boundaries you don't cross. Yorubas crossed every boundaries and lines in 2023 election, and I was shocked beyond my imagination. Do you know the kind of psychological effects that hate had on the LP candidates and his younger siblings especially. Do you realize what it means as a child for people you called your elders and uncles to publicly condemn and reject you because your mother come from a tribe they hate. You're told them that even though their father is Yoruba, they are not Yoruba simply because their mother is Igbo. And you didn't stop there, you poeple openly and viscously attacked him. For those saying that not all Yorubas were involve, remember that all of them kept very quiet and nobody spoke up openly at the time or condemn what was happening, including the so called Obavof Lagos. That things still continues till today because I haven't seen any prominent Yoruba person condemn Boyo Ononuga. Being silent means you are in support. Yorubas shocked me in 2023. He wanted the Federal government to conduct a referendum in the area he calls Biafra, so that the indigenes will decide if they want to be in Nigeria or not. How clearer can one get?
