    Come to Australia sometime and have a look at later Falcons that we totally made our own..There about 4 million sold here between 1960 and 2016 ..they ran inline naturally aspirated 6's the whole time , a magnificent turbo inline 6 from 2002 to 2016 , V8's from 1966 for most of the time except between the mid to late 1980s ..returned again after a few years and ended up with the Boss engines and Coyote/Miami 5.0 V8's. The 5.0's were supercharged too ..In the second last model run (FG) they also ran a turbo charged 4 cylinder that wasn't all that popular but some were sold... The mighty Falcon was /is a great car ..I have two of them myself ..

    I have a 1965 Ford Falcon 4 door that I bought a rebuilt 302 v-8 from a 1970 Mustang to install.
    It also used to have a 200 ci 6 cylinder.
    I looked up this video for tips. I'm an amateur mechanic. I'd like to keep the original c-4 automatic transmission. It worked great except it was hard to get into reverse periodically. Is it possible to fix the reverse gear without rebuilding the whole transmission? Do I need to change the bell housing for the v-8 to mount to the transmission? ...and what about the oil pan?

    I have a 61 ranchero with a 302 or 5.0. My advice is to swap the spindles since the engine is heavier, I did changed all front suspension from a 67 mustang and it worked for me and even the power booster I used from a 95 98 metro geo worked perfect , minor mods , I love your manual tranny and shifter

    • @mastermatt289
      @mastermatt289 Рік тому

      Humberto what is the gain of using a geo booster? I have a late model mustang I’m using as a donor car for my falcon and thought I would use the booster and Master from it. Will it be to long? Thanks for your input. The more I find out now the less problems I will have.

    Not bad. I have a pair of 64 sprints. One with a 427 cammer under the hood. The other with a built 289. Not a big deal to put a small block in one. But believe me the big block had to be shoe horned in. Not that I did it. It is a factory built road race car. And let me tell you that big engine in a striped down car can be a bit scary on a long straight away.

    • @bransonfleischman2233
      @bransonfleischman2233 3 роки тому

      If you use the 164 tooth flywheel, the v6 bell housing should fit. That’s according to the internet though, I went the route of a 94-95 mustang bell housing on this falcon; and a standard foxbody clutch and flywheel setup. The foxbody bellhousing is a little bit smaller, even with the 5/8” thick adapter plate you need to make it work. Really depends on what’s cheap honestly. They all work, just research before buying stuff.

  • @twinizle
    @twinizle 3 роки тому

    Did younguys have to change mounts for the 302? And did you have to move the steering link for the bigger motor? I keep seeing that the oil pan may hit. Its a 63 falcon

    • @bransonfleischman2233
      @bransonfleischman2233 3 роки тому

      So for this build we used a set of the 67-70 mustang mounts which put the engine in the same place as the earlier 63.5-65 falcon mounts, but are two pieces instead of three and are much more commonly available at auto parts stores, as well as breaking less. The oil pan definitely hit when we first put this setup together, and was fixed by using about a half inch in spacers on top of the mount to move the engine up. The official correct solution is to use a v8 steering linkage and spindle that drops down to clear the pan in the stock location. Only issue with that is needing a whole new set of spindles, brakes, as well as all of the linkage parts. That probably costs $700 to $1,000 depending on what you buy new and what you can find second hand.

      This car I cut the core support to the larger size, as the v8 cars would have had. I went with a late model 94 mustang aluminum radiator. Barely fit. I’d recommend the 67 mustang big block radiator off of eBay. Easier and good cooling upgrade for the pre 66 cars.

    Ok I got a lot of questions for you because I’m doing the same thing. I got a 65 ranchero that had a straight 6, bought a 94 mustang gt 5.0 along with an t5 tranny. What wiring harness do I need? Any tips I’d greatly appreciate it.

    • @bransonfleischman2233
      @bransonfleischman2233 3 роки тому

      So on this swap, we actually ran the carb setup and the original inline 6 wiring harness. The 60s fords all use the same alternator, and the starter wiring is the same. The only thing I did have to do is extend the oil pressure sensor wire, distributor wires and coolant temp sender, because of their placement being farther forward on the v8. Other than that, the wiring for carb setups is fairly straightforward. If you want to retain the 94’s fuel injection, you will most likely need a ford motorsports harness or build a custom one out of the stock harness with only the parts you need for the swap.
