HOW TO SOLDER INSTRUMENT CABLES (guitar cables) AT HOME

- I show not just how to solder high quality instrument (Guitar, TS, ¼ inch, or patch) cables, but also why each step is important. This all can be done from home with tools that are easy to find.
I improved the camera angles from my previous soldering videos. Everything is nice and easy to see.
Soldering cables is a very useful skill and I even find it fun, sort of meditative. I recommend Neutrik TS connectors. Not affiliated in any way, they just work well and last a long time. Neutrik NP2C shown in this video.
Hope it helps. God bless.

Do you solder or fix any other types of cables?
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Jackson River instablaster :)
@Braxton Moses I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Braxton Moses It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
@Jackson River glad I could help xD
I was struggling with my soldering and thought I had the wrong technique. I found your vid and realised the importance of a clean shaped tip. It made an instant difference. Thanks
Yeah it makes an enormous difference I’m glad it helped!
Thank you issac.your video helped so much
I’m glad it helped!
Thank you for video. Tired of buying 50$ cables that are lifetime guaranteed and having to go threw shipping cost and the time it takes. Just fix them yourself. 👍👍
Glad it could help
Thanks! The timing is right for this. I was just about to buy a patchbay and wanted to make my own patchcords. I'm interested in the cloth covered cables, which I think you can make yourself with a heatshrinking sheath.
Glad the timing is right. I’ve never use the cloth covered sheath but it probably works just like you said
This is awesome, thanks so much!
You’re welcome. Glad it helped
if you are interested in the conductive PVC used check out this from mogami's website: www.mogamicable.com/category/bulk/guitar/
Thank you for this informative video!
Annoyingly, some of the cables that I need to solder have different configurations of strands running through the thing…
I have one cable that seems to have two primary conductors, plus the shielding. It’s not a stereo cable, either. I’ve been hesitating trying to solder it, not being sure that there may be an issue…
Should I be soldering both of those primary cables together onto the positive terminal, and the shielding wrap to the negative?
Thanks for any input!
Seems like you may have the wrong type of cable but yeah I think that should still technically work
You do not have the wrong kind of cable. Sounds like a Belden 8412. Watch this video and he'll answer exactly what you are inquiring about. ua-cam.com/video/giG6QN75Y0U/v-deo.html
Do yourself a favor and put a drop of liquid flux on each wire end before tinning. Makes life easy. Or dip the wire end in paste flux.
I'm new to this, what kind would you recommend?
@@jgonzo909 SRA, thermaltronics for paste, mg or Kester liquid.
The tip connection wasn’t great, it needed some external flux
