This song represents the spirit of football of the nineties and early two thousands. Football was rough emotional and gritty, I miss that kind of football. It wasn't as political and players really played hard. That was a spectacular era, I really miss it.
mcdadejr89 we all miss the pre Gordell and Passing Football era which a bunch of drama queen robots. Running the ball don't exist anymore. neither does Defensive struggles.
This was from either 2005 or 2006, and I can tell it because Randy Moss was wearing a Raiders uniform. 2004 he was still a Viking, and in 2007 he’d become a Patriot.
@@williamkanejr3233 You're right, he's wearing a number 18 and that is his Raiders jersey number, but 2004 is one of my favorite seasons, if I'm not mistaken by 2006 the rap intro was gone, so it's probably 2005.
53knights I understand what you're saying, but not everyone grew up watching football in the 80s. Like I said, to me, '04 or '05 will always be my definition of football because those were the first years of NFL football I watched.
John 000 and it's really not that different today than it was then. Refs were protecting QBs then and if I remember correctly, that was the year the refs said they were going to start cracking down on PI's so they called it more.
John 000, 2004 was my first year I got into watching football, I know what you mean, what I liked the most is this CBS intro, ESPN Prime Time and Monday Night Football on ABC.
The Steelers and The Patriots and The Colts and The Ravens and The Chargers were pretty much the kings of The AFC. now it don't see the same anymore. The Steelers and The Ravens are both on the decline. The Titans used to be a Playoff favorite. Now They are average every year.
Man this is an absolute masterpiece in every way. I still get so pumped watching and listening to it back when playing defense was still legal. This track embodies the struggle there used to be over every single yard. The AFC was stacked with great stars but I can't help but wonder if it was the kiss of death that my featured Jets were seemingly the only ones shown posing with the Lombardi, especially when it was Brady and New England coming off a run of three in four years at the time of this video.
Dude this is my childhood in one perfect video I was so freaking happy when I saw Chad Pennington in the video oh my god and all the other greats Randy Moss , Peyton Manning , Curtis Martin , Ray Lewis etc... this is what footballs all about man
In my opinion the is the greatest sport intro/theme song there was followed by the NBA on NBC roundball rock, ESPN NFL Primetime in the mid 90s, Road to the Final Four CBS Sports (New) and Chicago Bulls Alan Parson Project in the 90s
this song got me pumped this morning!! Ready to tackle anything the comes my way today !!! Good job Ed !Nothing like my favorite band and some great lyrics to get me movtivated .
I missed this....the 2005 season, for me as a Bengals fan, it was the first time in 20+ years that they made the playoffs. Sucks because it also reminds me of when Palmer's knee was shredded and he was never the same. I also remember all the players on this video, as well as which team they were.....Damn, it has truly been a long time....All of the players in the video are either on different teams or are retired.....I think Tom Brady in this video is still playing for the team that is on his jersey, the Patriots. Almost 10 years when this video was made....
Trent L I didn't think he was in the video too. Good eye! I kinda forgot about Big Ben--that was the beginning of his second NFL season with Pittsburgh. Got his first ring that year too--Steelers beat the Bengals, Colts, and Broncos in that order to get to SB XL, and beat Seattle to win it. Thanks for remembering that! :)
+tmap92 It is a bummer that the Bengals weren't able to get to at least the Divisional Round on the road to Superbowl 50, but at least it is great to see Carson Palmer in the NFC Championship game (Possibly Superbowl 50) 10 years after coming off that devastating knee injury. Comment typed on 1/22/2016.
Shark511151 Very true. And to think that the ACL tear happened to him again just last season, not to mention all the work he had to do to be back to his pre-injury self. I don't like the garbage behind his exit from the Bengals, but in the end both parties turned out much better than they came in--Bengals are a perennial contender, and Carson has a legit shot at the big game with a real team, not that joke that he was part of the first few years. Everyone is talking about that either Manning should get his second or Brady get to be a chance for 5 with the same team. Cam, personally, can still season for a bit, he's gonna be around a while. I do hope that he's able to win one. Going off topic a bit, it seems like it's confirmed the theory that the Bengals are cursed, because it seems like a lot of significant players that used to be Bengals started having more success after leaving the 'Nati, starting with Corey Dillon.
Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Takeo Spikes, Marvin Harrison, Warren Sapp, Jerome Bettis, Hines Ward, Willis McGahee, Lee Evans, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Rothisberger. That was from back in the day!
Back the AFC owned the NFC with the Patriots Dynasty, Peyton and the Colts, Ray and Ed's Ravens, the Brees and LT Chargers, Polamalu and the Steelers, Palmer and the Bengals, Jason Taylor with the Fins, KC with Priest Holmes, and other great teams
Now it looks like the AFC is owning the NFC again. Mahomes and Kelce domination, Allen and Diggs connection, Herbert leading the Chargers, Hill and Waddle running all over the place, A Rod mentoring the young Jets, Broncos Country is riding, the AFC South is filled with promise, the Steelers are always in the mix with Tomlin, Burrow and Chase dominating like they did in college, and other teams like the Pats, Ravens and Browns that I didn't even mention..... Point is the AFC is owning the NFC again
As a Chiefs fan, it was crazy seeing the trio of Tony Gonzalez, Dante Hall, and Priest Holmes. Now it's Kelce, Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt, plus Pat Mahomes, Sammy Watkins and Spencer Ware.
Best nfl on cbs intro ever
This song represents the spirit of football of the nineties and early two thousands. Football was rough emotional and gritty, I miss that kind of football. It wasn't as political and players really played hard. That was a spectacular era, I really miss it.
We all do bro that was the last of the smash mouth football era...
mcdadejr89 we all miss the pre Gordell and Passing Football era which a bunch of drama queen robots. Running the ball don't exist anymore. neither does Defensive struggles.
Tree ertrthj7yb
Allen Greene They do but the only reason you get a defensive struggle is both teams have good defenses and the refs arent messing with the game
Yeah I guess so.
Man, seeing Steve McNair in this reminds me of the good days playing Madden 05 and having him as my QB. RIP big guy
This takes me back to 2004 Sundays at 1pm, nothing but a nice intro song to get you hyped up to a Sunday full of football!

@@M-Rv Yup, the highlights look like 2004 so this was used to kick off 2005.
@@steves9964 That's a great observation!
In my mind, this will always been the official theme of the NFL. It's the best hype song for any sport...ever.
Cbs has the best intro music for football
Agreed!
yeah if you're 12...
Yes, they do. Better than Fox.
Hell Yes!!! A+++
Nbc is as good
Probably the best theme song for any sport. I8 years later and I still get goosebumps!
This theme is still the best today
He'll yeah
man they need to bring this back. i was SOOOO hyped for nfl when this was played in 04-05
Yeah, I remember tuning at 12:50 to watch this CBS intro!
They should make a updated version of this with all the current stars
Damn this still gives me chills
Me too
Fr bro this sh is awesome
I cant believe this is like 20 years old now. I always find myself searching for this when week 1 looms.
CBS should bring this back!
Next season for the 20th anniversary!
When football was actually football. I remember 2005 being the first year I really got into watching football.
you kidding me? that wasn't real football. real football was the 80s!

RIP Franz Vonlichten. Your music will be greatly missed.
Anyone still here in 2020?
Collin Huckbody Chieeeeeeeeefs
Yep... Im here
A painful reminder of when the AFC was truly the dominant conference, man have the times changed...
The Steelers and The Patriots and The Colts and The Ravens and The Chargers were pretty much the kings of The AFC. now it don't see the same anymore. The Steelers and The Ravens are both on the decline. The Titans used to be a Playoff favorite. Now They are average every year.
Allen Greene in reality for several years the 3 kings with the pats, colts, and chargers with the steelers and the ravens fighting a 4th spot
Um from 2004 on the chargers and colts were always at the top...go look at records
+Steelersarethebeasts yeah the chargers are better than the steelers thats why we beat them with our starting quarterback out lol
patriots, jets, broncos, chiefs and Bengals
One redefining moment to ignite your soul. Damn man, beautiful ...

I always get hype listening to this before the season every year. Go Colts!
I love how they show Peyton manning when it says best quarterback in the division and then it shows Tom Brady when it says win the super bowl
I’ve been a pats fan since drew Bledsoe and even I’ll admit that Payton is a better QB who just had way less to work with then Tom did
I remember this in 2007
Football will never be as exciting as the mid 2000s on CBS
The fact no one has made a modern version is sad
Seriously
I tear up every time I watch this A+++++
Me too
man I miss ray lewis and ed reed man I miss those guys
Still the best FOOTBALL SONG EVER!!!
The Early 2000's was just different.
Best theme ever! me and my friends would be bouncing off walls when this came on Sunday afternoons I'll never forget this
Best CBS football intro
The first 20 secs are my favorite part of this song
Randy Moss, Ray Lewis, Steve McNair, Priest Holmes(I think), Albert Haynesworth(I think), Jayson Taylor, LaDainian Tomlinson, Edgerrin James, Warren Sapp, Jerome Bettis, colts WR
Used to bump this before two a day practices and Friday night games. The hype from this was is too real!
I got a game today in California, blast this shit like crazy right now

Drew Brees as a charger now a saint ($B XLIV MVP) when they play on CBS
