Hi Chef Ani I made this Seitan Sunday for dinner and guess what? I ended up making my 4th one today, can you believe that? 4 Seitan in one week!!! My husband loved it so much I had to actually make it for nearly every meal. I didn't know he was going to love it so much, even the children. Thanks again for this recipe, simple, easy and tasty. Have a blessed day.
Aww... I am so happy to hear that! Thank you for taking the time to send me such a kind comment. You literally made my day!

Thanks for the recipe. I loved watching you. Great personality, I could watch and listen to you all day
Just learned about Seitan looking up information about capers and my wife's early chicken piccata recipe which I now want to make into a Seitan Piccata. Thumbs up for the recipe.
Thank you Chef Ani :) I absolutely loved your recipe!!

Radical Chef Ani! I generally know how to make it but this is such a nice refresher since it’s been a while.

Thank you.. quick recipe for chocolate chip cookies please the chewy kind. 😊😩
Thanks for the video! I want to try making this again, last time I made a gluten based meat replacer I didn’t like it that much. But I want to give it another chance and try it again!
Yum!
I've never really had any success with seitan, but shall give your reciepe a go as it's a bit different.
Thank you
Bob's Red Mill is expensive, compared by the pound though. Great recipe!👍🏾✌🏾
Lovely video. Can I boil the seitan in plain water and then marinate it afterwards?
Great question! The seitan in itself does not have a lot of taste, but I think it should work just fine if you give it a good marinate afterward.
What is the difference to cooking seitan in broth versus wrapping it and steaming it?
The cooking method changes the texture of the seitan. Seitan in broth is tender and a little fluffier in texture, steamed seitan creates a chewier texture. We use both methods for different recipes.
just curious, how long did you summer it for?
Great question, Rebecca! I simmer the seitan for 40-45 minutes. Here is a link to my detailed recipe: chefani.com/basic-vegan-homemade-seitan/#tasty-recipes-2778
You said to add a tablespoon of flour. What kind of flour do I add to it?
Hey there Ani, today I'm commenting something very exciting. I always comment something funny on your videos like this. But today I'm actually excited because I have so many jokes I can make in the future, jokes that I will leave in my back pocket for future videos.
Fun Fact, I have most of these ingredients on hand but I'm surrounded by people with Celiac's so I avoid making gluten around them. Even with my clean hands, cleans hands that I need in order to kneed the dough. I also need the dough, in order to kneed the dough.
A knife for Valentine's day? That's uhm.... thoughtful? I'm glad that your dad specified that the knife is for cutting up vegetables and not ex-boyfriends who stood you up at the dance because they were playing Xbox with the guys. But yeah, I may not be a knife expert. But that looks like a flesh knife.
So yeah Seitan is very meat like. The texture, the flavor, it's all there. I have been fooled a few times into thinking it was real meat. However, the stomach of my mother and other Celiac friends was not fooled. And that's why my church now has a policy to disclose any and all potential allergens before serving food.
This comment ran on too long. Thanks for the recipe, I look forward to see what new Seitan recipes you share. I may even try it if it's appealing enough. God bless.
Thank you, EliGrey57! Your comments are the best:) Thank you so much for taking the time to write every week. It really means a lot.
I am have not worked with those ingredients before. Does this gluten powder is what some people refer to gluten when they use flour. A little more education on this ingredient may great😊
Thank you for sharring.
Keep up the good work
God bless you 🤗
Good suggestion! Gluten powder is actually a product called Vital Wheat Gluten, which is different than high gluten flour. You can usually find it in Bob's Red Mill products in most grocery stores, but health food stores also carry it. Vital Wheat Gluten is made from the protein found in the endosperm of the wheat berry. It is almost 80% protein. It is a great ingredient in meat substitutes.

Mmm
Hi Chef Any, love, love your channel! I have a challenge for you, would it be possible to create a HEALTHY GLUTEN FREE SAITAN? 🙏💜
Great idea! We just posted a Gluten Free Holiday Roast recipe yesterday. We will work on more Gluten Free recipes in the future. Thank you for your sweet comment. I so appreciate your support!
I made this last night with a few extra spices. It was easy and tastes amazing 😋 We sautéed it and made breakfast sandwiches out of it this morning. The whole family loved it! Faux meat is so expensive so this will save my family lots of money! Thanks 😊
I am so glad you liked it. Thank you so much for your sweet comment and for your support!
