I agree with what Yoni said. I see being on time shows a good awareness of etiquette and respect for others. Obviously, there's a wiggle room in different situations. Sometimes it's due to poor planning skills and laziness if they already know it's not a good behavior but still keep doing it.
Being late just because you think everyone is "on the late side" is SO disrespectful imo. If you are ALWAYS late when you meet friends but then you are on time for "work things" it shows that you CAN be on time, it's just that you choose not to, which is very disrespectful for the other person, that also had things to do better than just being there waiting for you. If you can't make it at 7, just say it, so I don't have to be there waiting,, it's not like the world turns around you and everyone has to wait for you.
Being late and having nothing to do prior to the meet up is absolutely disrespectful. I don't think Alia is self aware enough to understand that time is precious to some people. The other party got ready early, left the house on time just to be with you and all you can say is, "oh i'm gonna be 10 minutes late but you go ahead first", is crazy. Because they GOT READY FOR YOU, left the house FOR YOU, to meet you ON TIME. Like hello?? give back the same energy to your friends/family! Also, it's not a skill to be a good calculator of time, like it's not that hard. If you can be early to work appointments/workout classes, i dont see why you can't be on time outside of those activities. It just doesn't make sense.
But if you join later the activity, then you shouldn’t have the expectation to last longer. So let’s say you are meeting with a group of friends for a picnic at 7 and you arrive at 7:45…you enjoy their company for less minutes, because they will get bored and tired and might want to leave sooner than you.
My friends are always 30 minutes late, when we have plans. I used to get frustrated, but now when I want to meet them at 8 for example, I tell them 7:30 and I guarantee they arrive on time.😅 So frustrating, but it’s on the person. Some people are not punctual. 😢
I think it depends on the situation but usually like 90% of the time lol on time I get this weird feeling if I am not like I am wasting someone else time similar to Toni
This is so funny. Don't you ever move to Switzerland. I'll be so screwed 🤣 cheers from Zurich🇨🇭 Edit: Clearly, Alia is not an anxious person. As one myself, I can tell you you're lucky. You're also lucky that people still want to hang out with you even though you're always late and don't care about it. 😅
what if it’s not only you being late in your group and then one punctual person has to wait alone for the group? in extreme case what if it’s his/her bday. that happened to my friend before🥲 we all should work on keeping our promises
To me being late is the biggest sign of disrespect. It shows you don't respect or value my time.
Same
Agreed

Always arrive on time or 10-15mins early 😊
Anyone who is habitually late, should really see that as an opportunity for self improvement.
Being late??? You've done this on purpose right 😂😂
