    Great video! I have a two story house, originally two units, one of upstairs, one for down, installed power monitoring on both, could easily see how the upstairs unit carried 80 percent of the heat load in the summer, and how the downstairs did essentially the same for the winter. Got rid of the two units, installed a variable speed 4 ton Trane XV18, removed all the flex hose and installed proper insulated metal ductwork, with Tranes zoning system, and modulating dampers. I'm a DIY'er, but I'm an engineer who loves to learn by doing new things outside my comfort zone, pun intended. Whole house now stays within a degree regardless of of season and we cut our energy consumption in half. A Gary was right, I would never have another home without zoning.

    Great video. Been using all kinds of zoning over the years and this really helped clarify some of the Honeywell wireless connections. Installing a 3 zone variable speed 20 seer inverter system, in place of 2 old systems tomorrow. Nice refresher.

    Thanks for the wonderful video. In one time of the video the trainer mentioned about transformer but however later it was not explained how to set it up to the main furnace which connects to Honeywell Truezone panel. It would be lot helpful!!!

    I used to live in a 2 story house and 1 system for cooling and heating and it was a nightmare trying to control the temp in winter or summer. I didn’t know there was a fix for this issue. I’m glad I watched this video. Buying a new house soon in NC and it has a zoned hvac and did some research and found this video. Now I understand the nightmare I used to live in. Trainer says NC has a construction code so new houses have to be zoned. !!! Go NC !

    Question: I have two stage heat furnace(variable fan speed) and single stage AC, I see that hz322 using %zone config can ramp up/down fan speed based on number of zones calling (just two zone).. I am just wondering why do need bypass damper when zone penal can ramp down fan speed for one zone calling?

    I've got the opposite problem of the first question he asked the class. I have the Honeywell z322 true zone but upstairs is always 7 or 8 degrees COLDER than the thermostat is set at and the other thermostats. One condenser (that's the big ac unit outside, right?😅) so is that the issue? Our board Honeywell board (hz322) and thermostat's seem to be working but it's running even when thermos are at or BELOW the set temp. Like set to 77, upstairs but it's reading 72 and still running cool ac for some reason

    As an alternative to the approach described at 1:02:30, could multiple zone panels and wireless adapters be used simultaneously? In my case, the residential system comprises five heat (boiler) and one cool (whole house A/C), so two HZ322 panels should work if they can tolerate seeing the other's W1/E (TR) at the boiler when both have activated an end switch with M4, right?

      Ultimately I combined two of the five zones and installed a single HZ432 panel. How many VA overloads a zone as described at 40:06, or overloads the panel itself? Each Taco 571-2 valve draws .9A (x 24V = 21.6VA), so the combined zone draws 43.2VA while the panel could draw up to 108VA (5 valves) + 2VA (wireless adapter) + 8.5VA (panel) = 118.5VA...

    anyone tell me how to enable multiple zones dampers to open when multiple thermostats are calling for service instead of each zone just sequencing to get serviced by the zone controller. Need to get heat to two zone at once because both are calling for heat.

    I have a 2 zone 2 stage system on the HZ322. upper zone is working 100%. lower zone thermostat says "no power". The board has a blinking amber light which confirms the code on the thermostat. I checked the fuse on the blower board and it looks good. switched the thermostats and the issue stays the same. I don't think the short can be on the blower since one zone and the AC is running fine for the 2nd zone (shared blower and compressor). Thinking there is a circuit reset on the HZ322 board, but not sure where it is or how to navigate the menu? thanks in advance for any help!

    I have 2 questions First one what expansion panel do I use with the HZ432. The TAZ-4 shows nla. Second question I have a job installed by someone else that has 13 supply runs to different areas off of 2 main supply ducts. The only way I see to do it correctly is to zone each run. I want to have a damper in each run and use wireless Tsats. How do I control each damper? Does Honeywell have wireless dampers and controls for the extra zones?

    • @JacksonSystems
      @JacksonSystems  3 роки тому

      I do not think that HW is actually making the expansion panels anymore. (TAZ-4)
      Second question: No wireless dampers at this time. If you wanted to zone each run then you could control with a zone panel. Then any standard wireless stat should work. For Honeywell especially you can get a wireless adaptor that will integrate with panel and do up to 4 wireless stats so you do not have to purchase an EIM for each zone you are trying to control.

    Hello guys ,i have a question? When you zoning the house, do you have to lower the tonnage of the unit? Lets say the house has 4 ton with no zoning but then you decide install zone dampers ,should you lower the tonnage of unit or just leave the one it has already? I hope you understand me, by the way great training video ✌

    • @JacksonSystems
      @JacksonSystems  4 роки тому

      Hi Luis, you do not have to change the tonnage of the unit. Zoning works by controlling the pressure so just proper pressure control is required.

    • @michaelm7874
      @michaelm7874 3 роки тому

      Some HVAC installers have a habit of doing this based on belief zoning systems need larger duct work to handle more air when single zone calls. Do not raise tonnage of unit based on it being zoned. I WILL SAY 100% USE MULTISTAGE INDOOR AND IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT OUTDOOR UNIT AS WELL! Being able to set droop, time delay of upstaging and etc using zoning/multistage equipment just takes this zoning to whole new level. IMO contractors using single stage equipment on zoning are not properly educating the client or don’t have a clue!

    I have a variable speed Lennox cba38 3 zone system with the hz432. When 1 zone is on it the supply ducts in that zone are loud like a jet engine. My contractor doesn’t want to install a bypass. At the same time I read the instructions on the zone board and step 6 says that I can connect the ds/bk terminal from the zone board to the air handler ds terminal to deenergize 24 volts to reduce the blower motor speed. I read where this will negate the need for a bypass. Your video didn’t cover the ds/bk terminal on the zone board when connected to a variable speed air handler. Anyone have thoughts on this?

  • @joeschneider67

    Better to use a zone board that communicate with the blower motor and can also adjusts how much volume of air every individual zone needs. Honeywell is a universal and simple control, therefore always will need a bypass , or bleed the other dampers or dump air into attic. I always sell the 95 percent furnace that communicate with the zone board, allowing the board to manage the blower speed depending square Feets. If am using a Lennox air handler or furnace I will use a Lennox zoning, if I have a Trane, then a Trane zone, if carried then a carrier zone, etc.. That's the best way. Would be a dream come true if Honeywell could have a way to talk to the blower.

    • @pxsfir

    3 years in this house and zone 4 wont work properly. Florida you have to deal with white snot in your drain pipe clogging up and making float shut and then have to call tech to fix . Finally he says I can put a new pipe in for you. 30ft pvc pipe $576 later didn't fix the problem. Too much humidity alerts all the time. Now they say I think you need a new zone board $850 How do they know I need a new zone board???? It is only 4 years old installed in May 2016.
    He said Damper isn't always getting the signal from the board to open and close. This has been happening for 3 years after I put in a new damper in zone 4 and zone 2 $625. I have 4 wi fi thermostats and 4 zones and zone 4 is only problem . UGH!!!!!

    • @davidarneson6749

      This is a way to control staged equipment. Such as a 2 stage air conditioner. (works with staged heat too) When 1 zone calls for cooling the panel will bring on the first stage. With the HZ322 when 2 or 3 zones are calling for cooling, then the panel will turn on 2nd stage cooling. The HZ432 does this too, and brings on 2nd stage when more than 33% of zones are calling for cooling (or heating). This works well with equipment with a variable speed fan that ramps up with 2nd stage.
