So techincally Teck Lee has been closed for more than 2 decades alr...The only station in singapore that is techincally abandoned. Also wished the Punggol Coast MRT station had not replaced the Punggol North LRT. Noticed how there are 2 tracks leading to nowhere near teck lee, was supposed to be for the Punggol North LRT, dont know if they will remove it eventually or not. Also Punggol LRT station is quite wide, apparently there was supposed to be a middle platform there for Punggol North but it was cancelled. It would been cool to see a Middle Platform for an LRT system. Even though the plans for Punggol North LRT station was cancelled. They could have kept/built in an middle platform in case an LRT breakdown or track fault. Or even stabilise a 2 car train there for peak hours operation.
@@PrograError we don't have a transport museum in Singapore unfortunately. At most can keep it at lta gallery if they bother to save it, which is unlikely.
Quite amazing to see the ‘transformation’ of Punggol to what it is now. The town is growing especially with the Digital District and the Punggol Point District coming up in the next few years. Punggol should be the ‘North-East’ version of the ‘CBD’ once the Punggol Coast MRT and the District opens.
At 1:21 u can see a pair of tracks just branching of to nowhere, it was supposed to be the Punggol north lrt, the concept plan for 2001 showed a third LRT spur extending from the general area of Teck Lee station, If u go to Punggol (lrt platforms) and go to the middle u will see that if u look at the Punggol lot platform photos u can see a track leading to Punggol mrt station covered by the floors, this might be a theory but some people thought of extending Punggol north lrt to Coney Island, not only to serve local residents but also visitors to that end of Coney islands, The largest remains of the Punggol North plan are at the still closed Teck Lee LRT station, where there are two stubs of unused and unpowered tracks heading north to Punggol? (I Think)
The station was built in 2004 but never opened. Kinda surprised the 2005 mrt map didn’t yellow out. I can alr see the difference between the current map and that map. And also about that “siding” i did A little bit of digging and it turns out that track was supposed to be a branch line extension for the Punggol Lrt.
Hmm data I found shows that construction for the lrt system began in 1999, teck lee on the west loop was built in 2002 and the east loop opened in 2005.
@@glitchFan2428 I believe the construction was with the construction of the New Town at the time under the plan called Punggol21, but the financial crisis put a damper on things, only in the late 2000s did it became a lot more populated after a lot more projects opened up. and the stub was for a spur that became the NELe to Punggol coast. (The Planned LRT line was planned to go further as a branch line to near the eastern end of coney island, as evidenced on MP2013 on OneMap) (Edited to clarify it's near to Coney island and not on the island, for future references)
I could see that the new Punggol North Link is being built and would open soon which has quite a close proximity to Teck Lee, so its possible Teck lee might open very soon, or only when the surroundings are entirely built.

but i see there are developments around the station
Quite nice to see old mrt map from 2005 compaing to now with many mrt lines
noice
Yeah blast from the past!!
And yes, it's been exactly 21 years of this station being unopened.
Teck Lee is a time capsule of our MRT/LRT network from 2005!
Very soon, it will open up with neighbouring developments in the area.
Yeah I hope they keep that board too
@@glitchFan2428 may it be kept as a museum piece of our transport history...

Yes, I finally went there during the dec holidays. It was so cool but the train was a little crowded
It's always so crowded in the day 🥲🥲

0:21 the board that tells you when the train comes is still on? look at the left side on top of the corner.
3:23 where does track switch goes to

At least we can still see how the LRT station used to look like.

well I see that are building roads and other more developments there so It may expect to open in the coming years

Correction: the new road is Punggol North Ave
They should open the train station so that is easier n convenient
It'll probably open soon as the surrounding area gets more developed

Why is the led still on at Teck Lee if it’s closed
I'd say it ain't LED, unless you mean the internal matrix.

Omg
TBH teck Lee is rather useless if theres Punggol Coast station in pdd

But I also think teck lee is gonna close forever
ITS AREADY 2024!!!
This station will never opened
