  • Join me as I meditate on John 4:5-34.
This session is for those worn out from the journey to come and sit at the well with Jesus and receive His Living Water. The only place we can go to be truly refreshed, restored and made whole is Jesus- and I find the very best way is to sit and linger in His Word.
Spend some time reflecting on what it meant for Jesus to choose to reveal Himself to the Samaritan woman- and the many ways in which her story is all of ours. We are broken, lost and desperately thirsty- living with the many other lovers we’ve chosen who cannot give us what we truly need. There’s only One who can satisfy and He’s the one who has the waters of eternal life. Rather than judge and condemn us for our sin, Jesus meets us with compassion and mercy- and it’s His kindness that leads us to repentance. So even now, we can enter boldly before the throne of Grace, knowing that if we ask He will provide this living water.
The Samaritan woman grew up believing that she was unqualified to enter into the presence of God- told the way she worshipped wasn’t the right or acceptable way. And yet, here she was- a broken mess- doing what she knew to do to survive, and in that undignified place God came and met her. He could have gone anywhere else, but He chose to come and dwell with her in her brokenness.
He meets her in the place of her shame and condemnation- but does not condemn her. Instead He addresses that she has sought these things to give her life and purpose and meaning- but now in Christ she has met the true source of life and salvation.
The divides and boundaries put on her because of her race, gender and sin no longer count with Him. Now she no longer needs to worship in a certain way- but can encounter God as a true worshipper- in spirit and truth.
Why does He reveal Himself in this moment as Messiah? Because He knew her frame and in His compassion- did not want to pass her by. This was the harvest of a pure heart He desired- a true worshipper. His offer to her was to drink from His well and then to become a wellspring of life herself- to worship Him, not as others told her to, but as He desired- in Spirit and Truth.
“But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. Yes the Father wants such people to worship him.” (John 4:23)
This same invitation is open to each of us today.
As it says in Ps 23 He is a good shepherd and we can trust and follow His lead. His waters renew our souls. He makes our cups to overflow so that goodness and mercy (His faithful love) will follow us all the days of our lives and we can dwell in His house forever.
It doesn’t matter how far you think you’ve fallen away or gone astray. It doesn’t matter how big the impossible mountain is in front of you. God’s presence with you is greater. He doesn’t wait for you to figure it out, He pursues you with His steadfast faithful love and comes to your rescue!
    You are not alone.
What are some empty and heavy water jars that you have come to the Well of the Lord carrying? Will you like the Samaritan woman, leave them behind with joy because you have met with the Messiah- the One true living God who came and died and rose again that you would have eternal life? The One who despite being worn out from His journey, was willing to sit with a broken and forbidden woman- simply satisfied “to do the will of Him who sent Him and to finish His work.”
She came to the well because of her need- but in meeting Jesus, He was able to fulfil a deeper longing and need within her than just her physical thirst.
How many of us are in this same desperate place of need- worn out from our journey? Longing for water that only He can provide?
I pray today that you would come and rest with the LORD. Let Him give you the cup of living water- that you might not thirst again and that you may become a well of water springing up with eternal life.

Who is this girl? I absolutely love your style of worship, mixed with the word.
It's the most powerful form of worship. Spontaneous worship with word.
Pls make many more like this so we can worship along.
