  • In this tutorial video, we're visualising the data we've been gathering with our application from our tutorial number 8.
    In order to do that, we download and install Grafana and then setup a dashboard step by step.

    Chris, THANK YOU so much for this video. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for building a dashboard for IoT sensors and Solar System switches and data feeds I have in my home.
    In your video around 20:13 you mention response time reading from a MySQL database and upgrading to Prometheus.
    If you still plan to do that video, have you got an idea when you will be doing that, and if not, would you mind perhaps providing a very high-level list of pointers I should follow to do that?
    I can then use that list of pointers and search further on google/youtube for more detail.
    Thanks again for this very good video

      Hi! Thank you for the nice words! :)
      I'm afraid we are currently not doing more tutorials and I also haven't really set up an example like in this video with a time-series database. So I don't know that much about it. Personally I would maybe check out "home assistant" in your case. I use it myself and it already handles a lot of the things you would probably need to do. You should also find many other people who extended it using grafana when you search for something like "home assistant solar dashboard". Other than that some relevant terms might be: InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Time-series database, Data retention, Grafana, Solar, Dashboard, Sensor data.
      I hope that helps a bit, even if it's probably not what you were hoping for.

      Hi Vikas
      Unfortunately I don't really know what the problem might be. In the documentation on mysql.com it says, you might be calling your functions in the wrong order? Or maybe you should try to simplify your requests?

      Hi Narayan
      It seems you got the same error message as Vikas Arora down below. Unfortunately I can't really help you without knowing how exactly your request and setup looks like. In the documentation on mysql.com it says, you might be calling your functions in the wrong order? Maybe you could start by simplifying your request as much as possible, and then add more parameters step by step, to see where it goes wrong.

    • @sql4automation584
      @sql4automation584  4 роки тому

      Yes it's possible. But it depends a bit on the data. I think you will have to define the data for the labels as "metric" in your request and then in the Visualization Tab under X-Axis set the Mode to "Series". Maybe this helps you a bit? medium.com/@sean_bradley/graphing-non-time-series-sql-data-in-grafana-8a0ea8c55ee3

    The dashboard looks great, but you go way too fast in the video making difficult to follow. It would also be helpful for you to include where some of the options can be found, since with newer versions the interface has changed somewhat putting some of those choice in different places.

    and where did the host IP 192.168.0.150:3306 suddenly come from??

    • @sql4automation584
      @sql4automation584  4 роки тому

      Hi hammershigh, the IP "192.168.0.150" is the IP of my synology network drive where I've installed the MariaDB database. And the database uses the port 3306, which is why I'm adding the ":3306". Now since that's very specific to my setup, you can't just copy it.
      In order to use Grafana you will also need to install a database on a device in your local network and then enter the IP of that device as the "Host". (It's very unlikely that you'd also have 192.168.0.150) MariaDB is free and relatively easy to install and you can find many tutorials for it on the internet. I hope that helps!
