Yes! A free-standing wood-burner heats a home far more efficiently than an insert model. You get heat from all sides of the unit, including from the flue, radiating out to warm a home. We have one and, yes, it takes up more space but it has a real presence and is a wonderful focal point. And, at the end of the day, if that's the only heat source (as is the case in our home too), practically must always win!

I love wood burning stoves!!!! We had one in the last 2 houses we lived in and there is just no comparison to how warm your house feels. We are currently building our LAST house (we are in our early 70’s) and will be putting a wood burning stove in the basement. Our floors will be so cozy warm in the winter! Can’t wait!! Your home is so lovely, cozy, and inviting. Really enjoy your videos!!!
Yes! I love pellet stoves they are much better than gas or even traditional open fireplaces because those get drafty and are harder to clean plus with gas you do have to worry about CO2 leaks which isnt very safe and at the end of the day when the power goes out you can still heat your home (and also water they now have pellet boilers) so its reliable than just those fake electric fireplaces.

I had to pause to say, I’ve seen where someone used embroidery thread (what you’d use to do needle pointing with) to repair their rugs. There are so many colors, I’m sure you could find one to closely match…if you haven’t found a new rug by now. It sure is beautiful!

The wall just inside the front door would be nice with a coat rack but used for display such as wicker hat and bag in summer and maybe a hanging basket with greenery for fall and Christmas. You’ve done a beautiful job on your home.

We live in a 1900 Victorian, and we have a pellet stove - with the piping through the wall, etc. It's on brick. And yes, we love ours! We would prefer a woodstove, but we bought the house with the pellet stove already installed. When you know, you know! =)

I have the same trash can I bought in 2003...🤣 it's ivory, tall and has lid that flips inside can so it sits right next to the wall. If I ever find another I'll buy a few to last me the rest of my life 🤣... the only thing I don't like about woodstoves is they have to set out from the wall, but sometimes I really would like to cook on one! Most of my neighbors have them but we bought a high combustible and cut a hole into our house so the bulk sits outside. It has a glass front so we can see the fire😍.... I love your house, your style is subtle and livable!!!

I love the addition of the gallery wall on the staircase...I've always tried to do all family photos but I'm loving the addition of the prints! It makes it look very professional. I feel the same about fall and winter decor...in the summer I keep things very minimal but when it starts to get cold I start adding items to make it feel cozy❤️ The wood stove is unique and very functional! My childhood home was heated entirely with wood and it was a lovely heat that was very practical. I can't even tell you how nice it was to come in from playing outside and sit beside it while it warmed up apple cider LoL

Leah your beautiful home has so much charm… wood stove and all! It is actually very refreshing to me to not just see more of the same on UA-cam! We built a Craftsman style home in 2020 & it is more minimal than a lot of new builds and I wouldn’t have it any other way. To each their own in my opinion.

When asked how to keep the dried flowers and grasses from making a mess is to spray it with aerosolized hairspray. Also, it’s used for pencil / charcoal drawing a from smearing.

I love the laminate countertop I've had them in several homes that we have built and lived in and never have I had any problems where or tear.. easy to up keep easy to clean and very affordable compared to the prices of other materials that day and time,!... beautiful and a lot of selections personally I wouldn't have anything else on my countertops....😇

Pleasant style. I'd add a narrow sofa table facing the hall and a large pastoral scene painting on the shiplap wall beside the DR table. Beautiful older carpets can be mended with a needle and thread or yarn and are better quality than the ones now available.
