So glad the thieves were caught...thats just wrong...this farmer is providing for the community and to have these items stolen...not cool...i would suggest getting cameras or maybe even guard dogs to watch the property.

Pardon my elderly ignorance, but I have never heard of lychee. How is it eaten and what does it taste like?

Tastes like heaven. 😋 Juicy and sweet. And pretty much not like anything else.
But don't waste your money buying it for top dollar on the mainland. It's usually old and not so good there.

Glad the thieves were caught. No mercy for those who steal from hard working people. Anyways, I hope you can clean and sell the fruit some how.

People who eat baked and flour-based foods prefer sour fruits; those who eat steamed and rice-based foods prefer sweet fruits. People in southern China are crazy about lychees. Northern Chinese prefer fruits with few tasty of sour, Westerners are crazy about lemons.

Still, that was a lot of effort for something with a value of a thousand dollars split three ways. Why not just do a quick grab-and-go at an upscale boutique?

Lychee and rambutan are 2 different fruit. They taste almost the same. But rambutan has a hairy outer shell, while lychee has a smooth kinda bumpy shell. And the people who stole these fruit are known in Hilo, desperate for money most likely to support their drug habit. So sad.

Well this "Jesus" character didn't even know when a fig tree was in season. "The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig in leaf, he went out to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not in season for figs. Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again" And his disciples heard him say it." - Mark 11:12-25 NIV. What a wuss. He gets mad at a fig tree for not having figs because it wasn't in season.
