Superb, magnificent and glorious violin playng. I've seen Mr. Rosand in the sixties and never forgot him after that magnificent concert in Rio de Janeiro. Many years later, I got acquaintance he would give a concert in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. As I was living in Madrid, I took a plane to Santiago, could see his rehearsal and he was even more stupendous. He was very gentle and even invited me to launch with him. So we could talk about many musical matters and recall that concert in Rio. He was extremely kind and a very interesting in conversation. He is one of my favourite artists. I absolutely worship him. Dear and great Aaron Rosand!
You may be what you want, but this is glorious violin playing, and he was called by critics as "A modern Paganini". In this Caprice, Mr. Rosand demonstrates it and touches perfection absolutely !
Rudel23 I think perhaps you are right, for I noticed also some differences in the music. But Mr. Rosand always finds originals and he is a conscious and reliable artist. When he was preparing a virtuoso program of bravura music for violin, some years ago, he found that modern editions had facilitated the scores, so he had to go to his old scores which he used when he was a student and indeed found that there were differences between the old and the modern editions of these works. So we should ask him about this Caprice, I guess. I like him very much also playing Spanish music, as the Sarasate pieces. Do you know his recordings of this music? If you don't, I recommend it enthusiastically.Yours sincerely, Sergio.
He's a master of the violin! I adore him!!!!! Just---is Paganini-Rosand not Paganini. Is a " handy" Paganini in which all the really difficult parts are modified to be more playable....
Rudel23 I know it's bit late but check out Szymanowski's arrangement of this caprice. I think that's what Maestro Rosand is playing here, minus the piano part of course and a few small changes in the violin part.

I don't doubt about his skills, but is not Paganini, is an arrangement of Paganini. Like a paraphrase.
