  • The ex-HMAS Tobruk Wreck, located off Hervey Bay in Queensland is a stunning wreck dive for those scuba divers looking explore a wildlife riddled Australian warship.
This decommissioned Australian Navy ship was intentionally sunk in 2018 to create an artificial reef and diving site, and it has quickly become a popular destination for scuba divers from all over the world.
In the short time since this wreck has been underwater, it's become home to a massive range of marine life including a large number of resident Green Sea Turtles, large Marble Rays, Cowtail Rails, Octopus, and large schools of fish. The amount of life on this wreck is usually something you'd expect to see after almost a decade underwater, yet the Toburk Wreck has only been down for 4-5 years.
The wreck also allows for penetration diving, and allows divers to explore the Tobruk's interior, where you'll feel like you're exploring a lost world. The ship's corridors and compartments are eerie and haunting, yet at the same time beautiful and awe-inspiring.
This project was shot by my team Descent Productions, with Tourism and Events Queensland. The operator we dove with was Hervey Bay Dive Centre.
