Uganda: 2019 Landslide survivors sue the gov’t for failure to act

- Victims of a landslide in eastern Uganda are taking the government to court for failing to protect communities from climate change.
The lawsuit says authorities should have relocated survivors of the 2019 disaster.
Hearings are expected to begin in the coming weeks.

“How to Solve Hillside Erosion”

Cover bare soil on hillsides with erosion-control netting, which comes in rolls that you simply unroll from top to bottom and pin in place with stakes.
Break the steep slope into several level terraces supported with retaining walls made from stone or landscape timbers stacked no more than 3 feet high.
Turn a small slope into a dry creek bed that fills up with water and channels it to a safe deposit zone, such as a natural swale or a storm drain.
Set boulders and medium to large rocks in the hillside to help with drainage.
Plant a variety of plants with different root depths throughout the hillside, ensuring that the roots interlock from just below the soil surface to even several feet below the surface. The roots help bind the soil to the hillside so it doesn't wash away.

If someone tells you living next to a volcano or an area where there's landslides and you REFUSE to move, you can't then say its the governments fault that you chose not to move.
Move to where? The poor are destitute.

@@mzalendo24 Move somewhere else, anywhere else. Go to the slums, go to another village and rent land from the local chief - work the land, grow maize, sell the maize, pay him rent.... but its not the governments job to give you work, or housing.
@@jzk2020 it’s so easy huh. You sound so dumb making that point just be grateful that you aren’t going through their hardships and don’t judge how they’re trying to live their life. They got handed some back luck at birth and their making the best with what they got. If you grew up in a first world country, which I bet you did, you got handed tones the opportunities just by simply being born in a good stable country and they didn’t.
