Watched this video 3 years ago when i got my s2 tourer V. 3 years to the day today, i finally took the old yellow ones out and they're all sanded down, tomorrow will clear coat and install. Awesome video mate, cheers from australia. Subbed. 👍
I can't wait to get my jzx100 tourer s in october! thanks for the vid definitely gonna do exactly this!!!! Gatta make the tourer interior shine!!!! great tutorial.
You all probably dont care but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
привет, круто но мне кажется 3 слоя лака маловато, можно в принципе еще два положить и отполировать и тогда будет ближе к оригиналу блестеть , летом попробую сделать
What do you think I should do for mine? There's a big gash on the radio bezel, would I fill that will epoxy first or go over it with sandpaper first? Just curious what your thoughts are.
@@TheSocialPraxis sand it all back to see if the gash is just in the clearcoat, if it's deep enough to get in the plastic then you'll probably see it once you re-clear it
@@anton.unseendon't you mean the weave, aren't these real cf underneath epoxy and clear-coat? So if I sand past the clear-coat won't I get to epoxy, then cf weave after that?
When sanding with the 80 grit, can you go too far with it? I tried this on one of the rears, and it turned out okay but its hard to tell if i sanded some parts enough initially as I dont want to wear through the pattern. Do they actually have a layer of carbon fibre on them, or is it some kind of carbon "effect" that can easily be sanded through? Mint tutorial though. Definitely keen to see any other stuff you want to share with the JZX community!
You can go too far with it, just make sure once you hit that "darker" surface that you don't go any further with the 80 grit. I started to go to the point of almost seeing the dark coloring, then hit it with the 120 grit to finish it off. Cheers dude, would love to make some more videos if you have suggestions!
Anton Phillipson You should do a video on your front mount intercooler setup since iirc you didn’t remove you’re crash bar. Would be helpful for those of us wanting to do the same
Thanks for the reply! I ended up just yanking harder and it came out. It took a surprising amount of force. I’m about to start the clear coat process of this restoration tonight.
Probably hard to know but do u think they came from factory with that darker look and faded to the yellowish carbon over time? If you look at brand new carbon surrounds they still have the yellow/gold look to them
Yep from factory they were that dark grey. "Brand new" trims won't have any yellowing on them, or at least they shouldn't! If they've been stored in view of sunlight they'll turn yellow
@@SxpremeXO they're just plastic with a lot of clearcoat which does fade over time. I've seen brand new trims from Toyota and also been in low mileage JZXs, not a hint of yellowing
For the love of god dont pry up at the front of the window switches only the rear, and don’t pry as much as push metal tab in an gentle pry up from back

Never realised that the clear coat yellowed over time.
Thanks...next project :)

Awesome video bro! was super keen on restoring the OEM carbon because its such a dope feature of the JZX100
So glad you made this vid! I just bought mine from auction last night so I’m for sure doing this to mine.
Mate great video, just started my own channel and hate how my carbon is all yellow so thank you very much
did do it today, with machine tho. hour and a half, monday they will be painted in a new clear coat.
Great tutorial. I need to do this to my Mark II one of these days.
Quarantine gives plenty of time 😉
@@anton.unseen right after I finish putting in my new turbo, haha
Haha that's a fun job... Can't wait to have mine running again

@@TheSocialPraxis nope, not real carbon. Just texted plastic under a very thick clearcoat

@@FirstContactX I can potentially do that! Kept the factory AC condensor and lines too ;)
@@anton.unseen That would be mint. I want to keep all of that too
Hey bro how do u take out the shifter surround
Can you show us how you did the cluster? I'm looking to convert my Chaser to manual as well, but don't want to shell out for a manual cluster.
Sure thing, I can make a short video on that sometime 😁
@@anton.unseen Thanks man.
New video is up now showing that cluster process 👌🏻
@@anton.unseen sweet man, will keep an eye out
Here I was thinking that the yellowing was OEM lmao
Классно получилось, всегда думал как делают такой серенький карбон:)
well looks like ill have to do this to the chaser
Definitely worth it!
You should be able to take the plastic panel off the front of the ashtray
how did you do it? it seems like its glued on
Was there any more to removing the ash tray? Or just the 2 screws?
You've got to remove all the other tribe around it first, and then that'll allow it to come out after those 2 screws 😊

I always thought it was kevlar lmao with how yellow every 100's interior carbon fiber is

I just bought brand new trim, it comes in a dark grey, the yellowing is super noticeable
@RyanPotter92 nope I just got a factory oem drivers panel and it's almost black..
For the love of god dont pry up at the front of the window switches only the rear, and don’t pry as much as push metal tab in an gentle pry up from back
I thought I did pry up from the rear? Maybe not on the drivers one because it was already broken... But yes take note everyone else!!!
Получилось не плохо
Спасибо!
