Hello!! So I made this hippo but differently!!! So I made the head, ears and legs the same! So I made it stand on all 4s so I did the legs, and conectes the head to it once I finished stuffing the front legs. Then to make the belly, I did 7 rounds of 42SC (chain 42 and sc ends together. Then after the 7rows do 5sc dec, 4sc, 3sc dec then add the back legs( you do it the same as the front from the tutorial) and make sure the legs like up with the front legs. Then 2sc dec, 1sc dec and Dec. tail is the same aswell! It’s so cute!! I hope this was explained well enough! If not, I have a visual I’ll share to you guys later! ❤
New to crochet, first big pattern I did, along with doing it with fluffy yarn. Hippo has some flaws but it looks like a hippo❤ took 3 days to complete but he is cute, and tri colored with blues, browns, and Greys
My first ami! New to crocheting and followed this super easy and beginner friendly tutorial. I’m so happy with my hippo :) thank you so much for this nice and simple tutorial :)
I haven’t made this one yet, but always appreciate your tutorials and the pattern lines written in the videos. Although I always buy your patterns from Etsy because it’s worth it, your extra efforts to help us beginners is extremely valuable - thank you! Excited for the koala pattern and tutorial as well. Your voice and tone are also calming to follow along with :)
I love it! I messed mine up and did his nose sideways. Instead of adding the eyes just yet, I'm going to keep following along and hopfully he looks like a horse! Lol!
Saw this video notification when I woke up. Had the head done by noon. Cant wait for the second part. I didnt know i needed a hippo in my life until I saw this video. Im currently making the fox while I wait.
Hi, love your tutorial! Have a question: after round 6 you added 2 stitches to get to the middle of the oval. I had to add 7. How do I account for those extra stitches as I continue? Instead of 38,I have 45😂
I think you just should've moved the marker, because after I added 5CH and moved the marker, the number didn't affect the hippo later on. Hope this helps!!
If you wanted to make the nose longer would you just add another row or two? I love the shape of this hippo, but am looking to make an alligator. Thanks
@@Sarah-em6dq “chunky” and “super chunky” are different for the different brands so there’s no standard definition. Hobbii Baby Snuggle is 120m/100g though
After R6 and R7 (38). Then R7 with Dec etc she said (38)… even though she added some st to make the end be in middle of snout? R7 at the end is only 3 sc at end and it makes 30….
@@shirleyempeigne7695you're all making errors somewhere. Her math checks out and I did it myself. When she makes some extra SC to get to the middle the stitch count doesn't change because she's not making any increases or decreases. It's still 38 stitches.
Anyone elses hippo head look kinda like a football and not a coute round shape like this? Im just going to roll with it because its the first thing ive ever made. Lol

I’m doing something wrong right from the start 😫😫 imma keep trying
so cute!! can i make this with medium weight yarn?
Yes it should work out ok!
Thanks! Sorry what weight is the yarn in your video? I searched up chunky yarn at my michaels but it looks thinner than yours. Thanks for the help :)
@@Sarah-em6dq “chunky” and “super chunky” are different for the different brands so there’s no standard definition. Hobbii Baby Snuggle is 120m/100g though
this video made no sense..i re did this multple times and my count would still not be the right amount.
Same! At the very beginning I cannot get it because it's not adding up!!
After R6 and R7 (38). Then R7 with Dec etc she said (38)… even though she added some st to make the end be in middle of snout? R7 at the end is only 3 sc at end and it makes 30….
Da sind keine Fehler… bei mir hat’s geklappt

The pattern is written in a slightly confusing way but actually if you follow each line from the video it works out fine
hey I know it’s late but I have a question if anyone could help!! Could I make this with weight 7 yarn? If yes what hook size would be ideal?
Google it’
Is a 10mm safety eye good?
R6 : 38sc, then you add to 2 sc -> r6: 40sc, why r7: 38sc?
Round 7 you count 7sc, dec, sc, dec, 5sc, 4 inc, 5sc, dec, sc, dec, 7sc.. you say that’s 38 but the 4inc count as 8 stitches
ummm so i somehow made it giant. The head can fit over MY head… but i did it all right and ny yarn isn’t even that big
What yarn are you using??
I wish I had more eyes
Heyy! where did you buy the safety eyes? I need some but I don't know where to buy them....:))
You can buy some at hobby lobby or on Amazon
How many meters of yarn is needed?
Can we use black yarn for eyes?
Is it 3 single crochet in one stitch?
What size eyes did you use
Mine is way bigger, same Needle, same wool 😮
Is this hipo same size as the strawberry cow you make ??
Very similar size yes!

Are we allowed to make and sell these or is this copyright?/?
how big would he be if i used james c brett flutterby chunky?
slightly smaller than the one in the video. Say 10 inches tall or so

Safety eyes is what size??
How tall is it?!

I am the 22 view
