INFJ/enneagram 2 married my INTJ/5. When your 5 checks out, do you! I hold space for his return but give him quiet headspace time for him to figure out what the color purple tastes like😅 our inside joke. I have learned to patiently wait "up the road" for him to catch up. If I did not know MB or Enneagram I would have walked past him😢 Im so grateful for him. We are so in love and have made eachothers life richer.❤

9 here, dating a wonderfully sweet and devoted 5. I also recharge with my alone time, so we have been able to give each other the space we need to thrive, while still deeply enjoying and treasuring our time together. We're both big time into wilderness backpacking, and I love that we can nerd out over that together and enjoy deep quality time on the trail together. Thank you for these tips! I think my takeaway is to come up with more interesting questions for him than just "how was your day?"

My theory as a 5 myself is that one cannot be loyal if you are not independent; and knowing how we are the most independent of all the Enneagram types we are the most loyal of all types aside from being the rational and intellectual type.
I have never felt so accurately described. I think I sometimes worry my boyfriend by being so quiet and needing space to recharge, so this is a super helpful video to show him.

This video is so so accurate and not just in romantic situations. My mother is a type 9, and for other personality reasons quite insecure. She and I have often fought about her clinginess, even though I'm a thousand miles away I feel suffocated when she asks me about my day everyday. She also will tell me that I hate her because I don't tell her I love her as much or I don't start a conversation as much. You also were very accurate about not wanting water cooler talk. We don't have anything in common so that's pretty much all our conversation seems to be and honestly I'm not here for it. However, because I am very loyal and I do love people, despite what she says, I am trying to understand and adapt to her enneagram type, even if it's draining to me.
My husband is a strong 5 and you nailed his personality.

Yes ... but .... first, appreciate the energy and thoughtfulness you obviously put into this. The enneagram must be a labor of love for you! That said (as an INTP 5w6), the comments about arrogance need some calibration. In my experience, 5s seek security by being a useful expert - the set up you mention for arrogance (around 10 minutes in) is more likely to be grasped by an average to unhealthy 5 as a chance to seek acceptance and ingratiate themselves.
I'm a 5w4 INTJ Asperger personality type. I was very interested in what you were saying, but I kept getting distracted by the geometric thingies on your shelf and the raised geometric pattern on your wall.

5 here! While I’m not currently in a relationship, I think all of these things still hold true for me in my relationships with my close family and friends! I can’t wait for your devotional for 5s to come out!!

You described perfectly what a type 5 is ! I am one of them and I thought you were talking about me ! My main problem is émotion processing. Although I am aware of it, each time I feel overwhelmed with emotions, I become aggressive, filled with resentment. My love life has been a real mess ! When facing an issue, I retreat waiting for the other person to reach out. Otherwise you are definitely right when you say that 5s hate gossiping or shallow conversation. I don t need many friends and can do things on my own like travelling.
Nevertheless I know I have to improve when it comes to socializing more !

As if I discouraged thé other person to love me. Fear of intrusion, intimacy probably but at the same time I feel rejection. So complicated …. I do not know how to handle the issue.. Deep down I crave for love but can’t receive it !

@YemimaHutapea yes for sure, I prefer it that way. I have dumped Exes lots of time because I felt insecure with them. For instance they answered my texts with a delay or forgot to do so but didn't mean to hurt me but I feel rejected in such cases. I know it is immature but I can't help it. At the same time, my ex husband was in love with me so much that it was suffocating for me. With a 5 you have to find the right distance and it is really hard I think to get the stuff right.
Why can’t you do more videos on the more higher, developed evolved 5’s ….

Each video contains the full spectrum of 5s from unhealthy to healthy. I'm continuing to learn more about 5s for my upcoming Type 5 book.
From what you’ve seen in your practice or in the world, can you tell us what percentage of the population of each type you have observed?
There's no way to really tell. I do think that are probably more 9s than any other type. Also, 4s seems to be more rare in my opinion.

Ha. No, it's the Enneagram which describes 9 personality types each with their own core desires and fears.
