It's definitely effective at treating mental illness! Just get rid of the mental, and no more illness. Some people really enjoy collecting obsolete medical tools. It only makes sense to make your own, since such authentic antiques can be expensive or hard to come by if all you want is the "creepy" aesthetic element.
