An interesting fact was that Hellhammer (drummer of Mayhem) was friends with Antestor and his drumming was featured on the Forsaken album. You can hear his drumming style all over. Great work!
It's sad to see Christian Metal Week go without Motification's "From The Valley Of The Shadows" but at least the last song of the week was fucking awsome, thank you guys.
Other amazing Christian black metal bands are Crimson Moonlight, Vials of Wrath, Shadows of Paragon, and Slechtvalk (though Slechtvalk is more folk metal at this point, I believe).
You guys need to check out something a little more recent by Living Sacrifice. You also need to take a look at A Hill To Die Upon. For AHTDU I’d suggest “The Darkness That Can Be Felt”, “Titanic Essence”, “Twin Heads of Vengeance”, “The Perfection of Evil”, “Let the Ravens Have My Eyes”, or “Sorcery and Sudden Vengeance”.
Also regarding the topic about the lyrics, yeah we're not to the point to where we can prevent death or get around it. However, that is what many many people have been trying to do, and the effort has never halted through the generations. A lot of people are looking to a merge with technology as a way to avoid death. Whether that's becoming cyborg, or being a collective of brains plugged into a super-computer, mankind is actively trying to evolve, and technology seems to be the most plausible concept for it. Lending credence to the idea, is our ever-insatiable desire to just make technology better and make our lives easier. It almost seems like human nature, to some people.
Very happy to see you guys checking out Antestor, pretty solid band and I'd encourage you guys to listen to the album this off, "The Forsaken", as well as "The Return of the Black Death" (which is even better). First, they actually do not refer to their metal as black or unblack, but rather, "sorrow metal". They came out in the early 90s, released a demo or two, then their debut album, Martyrium, which was more death metal than black metal. Their second album, The Return of the Black Death, was their first "black metal sounding" album. It actually was released on a supposedly "satanic" label, Cacophonous Records. They have said that in the 90s they received death threats for the music they played, that for Christians to play black metal was anathema. Anyway, interesting band.
