Chrome may not have permissions to use your microphone (in which case your microphone won’t work with Meet or any other app in Chrome. In Chrome settings, look for meet.google.com and make sure microphone is set to allow. If that doesn’t work, you could also check your Windows device settings to ensure there are no restrictions applied to the microphone.
Good tips. Some extensions can also cause a problem; in my case my "Disable HTML5 Autoplay" extension was blocking me from hearing anyone's sound. Disabling, refreshing and then rejoining the meeting fixed it, and confirmed with a re-test.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is exactly the issue I was having. I temporarily disabled that extension and then my audio test worked successfully and I could hear the test sound.
It happens sound can be mute in the settings of Google Meet. Fortunately, by going into the settings/privacy and security in Google Chrome, I was able to select Google Meet site, scroll on Sound and click unmute. Voilà! Now speakers work! Thanks for showing the path to solve my issue.
Thanks for your video Sir, but my microphone did stil working in Meet...And the "madness" is, it always used to work and sundlely it stoped just in Chrome ONLY. When a use the google meet in Edge from Microsoft it´s works well, just in Chrome don´t.
If it works in Edge, then it must be an issue with your Chrome permissions. Double-check that step to ensure Chrome has permissions to use your microphone.
In that case, it's an issue with Chrome's audio settings OR an extension you have enabled that's breaking that connection. Disable all extensions then re-enable them one by one to find the culprit.
on google meet my bluetooth headset will only let me use the headset microphone or the headset speaker, but not both. Happens with all bluetooth headsets (I have 3), and only bluetooth (wired headsets don't have the problem). So vexing. I can select them both in meet settings, but then only the microphone works, and I then can't hear anything. arghh!
None of that helped me. My sweetheart and I are long distance. We have always used hangouts to screen share and watch youtube or movies together. Since we had to move to Meet, his audio doesn't work as soon as he goes to a youtube video.
It's also possible a Chrome extension you have installed is interrupting the audio connection. Disable all extensions then re-enable them one-by-one to find the culprit.
can u please help me?i dont have any input or output issues.but when i present my screen sometimes my windows audio or chrome audio(like music in media player or a movie player or even youtube sounds)dont shares,sometimes works sometime not!my settings all are ok but i cant understand why?!my system sound not sharing sometime,for example today i can share my windows sounds but not chrome sounds!but yesterday i cant both!without any reason or change in settings,why?!when i present my screen there is another section added like there is a third person in call but there is a speaker crossed out icon next to my name(like when you mute your device there is a microphone crossed out icon).i think its relative to my problem but i cant figure out why?!please help

Extensions can get in the way, indeed. You can disable all extensions in Chrome, then switch them back on one by one to find the culprit.

checked all my system settings ... were all normal. Anyway, only way to fix it was to use a different laptop.
My focusrite scarlett 18i8 can be seen in the mic drop dowm but they still cant hear me. What should i do?

Google Meet will only share a browser tab's audio when you share that tab only.
