Saw them last night in Atlanta. My wife said she had never seen me dance this much (in the aisle) in forty years. Yep, we are 72 and they are the best band I've seen and heard in the last couple of years. They moved me the same way they moved David here. I'm a drummer and I could NOT keep myself from moving, jumping and falling in love this these guys and their music. Ten stars on every musical level.
If you see them and aren't moved to dancing... you need more rhythm and soul in your life. I really don't understand how you couldn't! Seeing Lawrence live is boogie time to the max 🕺🏽 Glad you found them and had fun!
I wish I could have a sliver of Clyde's talent. His arrangements are always on point. He not only picks the perfect people to collaborate with, but he can view and perform his music in different genres. He blows me away with each note.
I love seeing people discover the pure magic of Lawrence! Like you said in the video, their music is so joyous!! Their other stuff is definitely worth a listen-The Weather (Acoustic & Gospel Reprise) has some more great piano from Clyde that I’m sure you’ll enjoy, plus Gracie’s usual crazy vocals.
Lawrence started out as a duo, but they are a full band now, with all the members being equal, which is great. They are growing in popularity, and are now signed with Jon Bellion's record label, which is a massive step forward for the band. Some of the behind the scenes videos on the channel are a great insight into how the band works.
This band legit makes me cry happiness weekly. The music they provide touches every inkling of my soul. Truly an absolutely incredible talent. I’m glad you got the same joy I did
OMG THE ABSOLUTE *JOY* in your face and your body language is such a wholesome and genuine breath of fresh air - I cannot watch you without smiling ear to ear because you are absolutely living in this moment
Wow, just wow. I'd never heard of this band before, but this is such an incredible performance. I had a very similar emotional reaction to this music as you did, David, and I am in love with their music. Amazing!
Randy Newman with side of Ray Charles!! She is sounding more and more like Teena Marie to me. That is high praise!! Wonder if any of these voices were influences?
He took inspiration from Randy. When he helped score a movie at a young age (forgetting the details) the big time producer he was working with said follow the sound that's true to you and he did. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering this right but I'm sure anyone interested can find the story
Whenever I see other people getting into Lawrence, I feel my heart swell with so much happiness and warmth. They deserve all the recognition and lvoe (god I sound like a proud auntie but isn't it true??). Love your reaction and the good vibes!
A guitarist I play drums for has been a long time fan of these guys, we're doing two of their songs on Thursday night for his show, and they're ALWAYS a blast to play! Wholesome vibes the whole way through.
They have a new song - "I'm Confident that I'm Insecure." If you get a chance to react to their "acoustic-ish" version of that song, it would be awesome. I think you'd love it - great vocals, great lyrics, great message.
@@KenVallejosI also think he would love the acoustic version of "Freckles", just from a musician standpoint, if nothing else. I hate to overwhelm people by giving too many suggestions, but with Lawrence, it's so easy to do -- there's just so much that is good about these guys, lol!
WOOOOOW I didn't expect this! Thank you to whoever recommended this, I love the Lawrence siblings. And yea they are amazing, love the jam session vibes of this performance.
Just discovered Lawrence and am totally blown away. Been watching reaction videos and you are the first person to delve into the meaning of the song. Very Cool. Clyde testified to congress in the aftermath of the Ticketmaster/Live Nation screw up after the Taylor Swift ticket debacle. He spoke very convincingly about how the concert industry screws the bands - the theme of this awesome song
Dude, I had the EXACT same reaction when i saw this video the first time. I was dumbstruck- listened to it like 30 times over the next few days and made everyone I know listen to it, too. So stoked for you to find this band, too!!
Anything they post on UA-cam with (acoustic) tacked onto the song title is well worth your time to listen to at least 20 times or so. I'm so happy when people discover this band. I first saw them on NBC's Later a few years ago and keep getting blown away with every new thing I hear from them.
Your reaction and enthusiasm directly echoes my own the first time I heard them. Lawrence is -- hands down -- the best band I've heard in at least 5 years.
I had a VERY similar reaction to the song when it popped up on my suggested page. I promptly took a HARD DRIVE into the Lawrence discography and haven't looked back
Idk how more people dont know about them. OMG! THEY'RE AMAZING! Real music and both of their voices are mindblowing! Been loving them for like 4 yrs already.
All of their songs are like this. They are truly amazing. And all of their songs are uplifting and positive. Sure, there is some curse words here and there but it all have a purpose and meaning. I love this band!
I have waited so long for a pro to react to this. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. I discovered it about 4 months ago. It transcended into something that actually changed my life. Not to mention, it’s just an explosive piece of music. Yes, she’s an “adorable beast,” right now in my top 5 female singers (maybe ever), but he’s also so good, in a smart, underdog Randy Newman sort of way. The arrangement, the vocals, the joy. I try to listen to it once a day (sometimes 10). It’s just magic fairy dust.
I share your enthusiasm. This song makes me go absolutely nuts. I can't get enough of it. I feel like I hit the jackpot because it somehow came to me and I'm not sure how I lived before, without it. I honestly feel like my life is changed for the better. lol
Joyous! The performance and your reaction! Came for Lawrence reaction staying cause you're a MUSICIAN! Wonderful energy and so positive! Thanks so much for posting!
I bet you are an incredible teacher. I guarantee your students watch your channel and your enthusiasm is contagious!! Wish they could all be like you!!
"I'm having a reaction to this." Yeah, bro. That's what the video is about. But I feel you. Every member of Lawrence is crazy talented. I love how they even showcase their "backup singers". Every person in that room is amazing.
David - 1st time viewer - I teach math I love and am in awe of music and music teachers (both my kids did marching band and orchestra). I listen and react to music the way you do - which is why almost no one like to listen to music with me :-). Got to meet Gracie and Clyde before their show at the Stone Pony - your assessment of Gracie is spot on - when asked what her hobby was or what she does in her free time, she said "well....music!". Their live show has the same level of musicianship as you see in this recording. Thanks for sharing this - I feel a little less alone in the world knowing someone else out there reacts to music as I do.
You know the part where you're almost rooting for them at the start of your video? Thats me everytime I listen to this song, I've watched it over 600 times
I just heard of this band, and this song last night, and now the algorithms have brought me here. I heard that first 8 bars and that was all I needed. What. A. Voice.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed your reaction. I happened upon this song about two months ago and I have yet to make it through it without bursting into tears of catharsis, joy, longing, empathy, amazement, etc. I am a singer/musician/voice teacher and I have been aching to experience this song with someone who enjoys brilliance in the details as well. (But let me tell you, my casual riffing along was nowhere NEAR your amazing piano stylings. The way you picked up that piano riff on the first shot? Whooo!) I listen to this song now before every performance, audition and grant writing slog to remind myself that this business is hard even if you are Lawrence and are seemingly the most talented humans around but that we are all in this together; that making art is about joy and community, and to inspire me to keep my heart open and present in my work. Thank you for your open heart, wonderful skill and extremely satisfying reaction. We were all grooving out with you, around the world.
Great commentary David. I stumbled upon Lawrence the other night on Jimmy Kimmel and have been hooked ever since. I love the soulful sound !! Looking forward to hearing you break down the next big act David.
I've been waiting to find someone reacting to this the way I did. Nobody in my house feels this one the way I do so I'm so stoked to see another reaction
This is seriously my FAVORITE Lawrence song and version of this song EVER! I'm SO HAPPY you reacted to this! You need to delve into all of Lawrence's music! They are an outstanding group! I have tickets to see them perform in Philadelphia in December and I CAN'T WAIT! I think seeing them in person is going to rock my soul to it's core!
It was such a joy to watch you react to this song with such joy and enthusiasm of your own. I have been following Lawrence since some time early during the pandemic, and every one of their songs provides a boost of energy and good vibes and musical mastery when you need it the most. I can't listen to this acoustic version without getting goosebumps every time, and I love when art can do that. Happy listening!
I have watched this video more times than I care to admit and EVERY time it gets me right in the heart. Amazing musicians, amazing feel, amazing musical choices.Truly phenomenal and I use that word very specifically and not in a hyperbolic way at all.
I absolutely LOVE your reaction to this because it’s EXACTLY how I reacted when I first heard this song and this band! It gets into your soul, it’s so palpable!
Doubt you’ll see this but this is literally the best and most memorable reaction video I have ever seen on the platform. I took wayyy more than just “wow they have good voices!“ from this. great commentary, great life thoughts!!! THANK YOU.
thanks for this review! my college kid introduced me to Lawrence last year. Gracie & Clyde are just so young and fresh and passionate about their music. saw them at the Stone Pony. I keep watching their wins, songs picked up & used in commercials, tours in Europe. Their energy is addictive. I could watch them play this song forever. Don’t lose sight ! 😊
Oh wow… I finally someone was able to say exactly what’s in my heart with this song. It changed my life seeing this song and I just relived the same excitement through watching you… you made my day. 🙏 ❤
Lawrence is just on another level. Saw them in Columbus with my wife (graduated with a vocal performance degree). She was nerding out the whole time. Their live show is just impeccable. As you mentioned in the video, everyone is so tight, so professional, and just in the pocket the whole time. 10/10 would recommend and will try to go see them as many chances live as I can. Enjoy!
I wanted to add that I've watched this video about a million times, lol, but somehow have neglected to mention that the reactor (David) has such a nice, pleasant voice to listen to. When you sing, David, it's like honey on my ears.
@@MusicShed lol, sounds kinda gross. Now I'm visualizing honey in my ears, but I guess I brought that on myself, lol... thanks for your reactions - and for the work that it seems like you do with other musicians. I hope you get to react to Lawrence's new song, "I'm Confident that I'm Insecure". I'm so excited to see you go nuts over it, lol. The vocals are sick - somehow they've gotten even better - the lyrics are great (there's even a Beatles reference in it for you), but what I first noticed - and I think you will really appreciate - is the dynamics. Thanks for your response and keep on keeping on.. ❤️❤️
I very much had the same reaction when some mysterious UA-cam algorithm threw this Lawrence video up on my feed. Had never heard of them. Was totally blown away.
I saw this band open for Lake Street Dive about 4 years ago. I’d never heard of them before then but I dug into them deep. Clyde has a little Randy Newman meets Huey Lewis in his voice. But Gracie at times channeled Chaka Khan! Not only is she a phenomenal vocalist but she’s got stage presence for days.
Wow two of my absolute favorite bands, that must have been an incredible show! Gracie and Rachel are among my favorite vocalists and the bands overall have such unique styles that bring so much soul 💖
@@BreathEmpowerment I knew what I was expecting with LSD. But I was NOT expecting what I saw with Lawrence. I want to say Gracie was maybe 18-19 at that show.
Watching you jam out to their music sooo naturally made my day! I've been to Lawrence's concert two weeks ago. Hands down THE BEST concert I've ever been to. Filled my heart and soul with so much happiness, joy and life! They are so so incredible. I hope you check out more of their music!
They are very active in senate hearings about the industry. They are the kids of the guy who did the music for Legally Blond and they are forcing their way into this space and i love it.
I had 100% literally same reaction. ♡♡♡♡ just heard Lawrence few days ago, from tiktok and have had this particular song on repeat 24/7 ESPECIALLY for the ride into work!! I seriously wake up singing it !! Such a soul satisfying gospel greatness 🙌 so so in love 🥰
You sir, I hope you never change. I'm a 46 yo father of 7(Blended family), and this type of power is what moves me. I do my absolute best to pass these ideas and emotions on to all our children. Love is love. And if you REALLY love, then you know there is no higher power. Your students are blessed, and may you be.
Lawrence blows away 90 percent of the main stream artists out today. But them being so underground is what makes its so great. I would never want them getting too main stream. Would just muddy the waters for them. They are just too damn good for the industry
I love them and I like you. Your reaction is exactly all the things that were going through my mind the first time I watched this. New sub! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff!
Thank you for this very informative and entertaining video. You just validated and added to what I thought I was seeing and hearing when I experienced this Lawrence video for the first time a couple of days ago. Lake Street Dive is one of my other favorite bands and they do some collaboration with Lawrence that is worth checking out. You should check out Lake Street Dive if you are unfamiliar. In any case, SO much to come from this incredibly talented family!
@Music Shed I recently came across Lawrence from a commercial. It was the original studio recording of Don't Lose Sight. I decided to explore their music and fell in love. You're right, Gracie is an adorable badass!
You need to seriously check out the rest of Lawrence's catalog, David! If you haven't heard the rest of their songs, you are MISSING OUT! And FOMO is NOT something you want to be suffering with when it comes to Lawrence! Check out "The Weather" (Acoustic & Gospel Reprise), as mentioned, but also their songs "Casualty", "Probably Up", "Quarantined With You", "The Heartburn Song", "Shot", "Misty Morning", "So Damn Fast" and their first one that got me onto them, "Do You Wanna Do Nothing With Me"! They absolutely SLAY every tune they do! And when you hear the name Lawrence, realize that it's not just Clyde & Gracie, but the full 9-piece band, all of them ON POINT! And they're only bound to get better from here...Check out their albums "Breakfast", "Living Room" and "Hotel TV", too!
I'm pretty sure I had the same reactions as you when I first heard this song. Grace's voice is just something from another world. Here goes a like and sub from a music teacher as well.
I just stumbled onto the band Lawrence 2 days ago, and I think this is such a great song and wonderful arrangement - and I love hearing your analysis and thoughts on this. Turns out that they are playing in my local town in 2 weeks - I'm so stoked for the show! I also did a bit of poking around your videos, I like your reaction of Snarky Puppy's Lingus too.

This is the most precious thing I’ve read on the Internet in years.
I saw them in Nashville it is by far, the most energy I have ever felt at a concert. There wasn't a single person who wasn't dancing.
I agree… I’m almost 50 and they have literally changed my life…. And that’s a big deal at this age❤
I am so glad Lawrence are starting to get the hype that they deserve

That opening belt makes me tear up every fucking time
Every. Time.
Same. Every. Single. Time. No matter how many times I've heard the intro to this song, Gracie's vocals always send me to tears.
Good for you !!! I feel so bad for people who don’t get goosebumps and tears from music.
This version in particular is almost a spiritual experience! So glad you've reacted to it, more people need to feel this song

Shout out to whoever mixed this and set the mics, the blend on not only all the vocals but the instruments is INCREDIBLE.

@@BreathEmpowerment I knew what I was expecting with LSD. But I was NOT expecting what I saw with Lawrence. I want to say Gracie was maybe 18-19 at that show.
Wow - what a combination! I'm jealous!
Yes!!!! Huey Lewis and Randy Newman is EXACTLY what I said to my husband the first time I heard this song. I love that we had the same thought!
Watching you jam out to their music sooo naturally made my day! I've been to Lawrence's concert two weeks ago. Hands down THE BEST concert I've ever been to. Filled my heart and soul with so much happiness, joy and life! They are so so incredible. I hope you check out more of their music!
The Detroit show was so amazing. I’ve been to 100+ concerts and it may have been my favorite one ever
Amazing comment
I just "found" Lawrence yesterday. Although I've never heard your commentary before, I feel the exact same way!
Absolutely phenomenal!
Loved your reaction...and so impressed by your playing and singing...top notch!!
Ty Lynette!
They are very active in senate hearings about the industry. They are the kids of the guy who did the music for Legally Blond and they are forcing their way into this space and i love it.
Happy everyone is discovering Lawrence the band. Better late than never.
And yes, Gracie is THE adorable badass of the band.
Yesssss I was hoping you’d react to this. Such an incredible performance. Gracie is spectacular.
Incredible song! Love them. Thanks for reacting. I have a new favourite band
I love them!
Thank you Mike! Much love my brother
Lawrence blows away 90 percent of the main stream artists out today. But them being so underground is what makes its so great. I would never want them getting too main stream. Would just muddy the waters for them. They are just too damn good for the industry
The acoustic version is my fav. Lawrence is amazing! I first came across them when I stumbled across the Jam in the Van performance.
such a goldmine of a song, incredible
This was awesome. Looks like your day did a 180 after watching!
Love your channel. Seeing them in Salt Lake City in April. This video got me even more excited to experience Lawrence! 💯❤️💯❤️
You prob don't know this, but out of all the Lawrence reactions, your view count is the highest!
PLEASE PLEASE DO MORE 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I just stumbled onto the band Lawrence 2 days ago, and I think this is such a great song and wonderful arrangement - and I love hearing your analysis and thoughts on this. Turns out that they are playing in my local town in 2 weeks - I'm so stoked for the show! I also did a bit of poking around your videos, I like your reaction of Snarky Puppy's Lingus too.
I really enjoyed hearing your expert and detailed view of that song. You also play like you would fit right into their montage!
