There is definitely a post apocalyptic feel to your videos. It's classic. Loved the way you found the shoes to present. Nice presentation. Unique! I'm hoping to pick up the New Balance Rebel v4 on sale given your long term assessment on this shoe.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed this. Wasn't the most action packed video of course, but way easier and faster to edit;) The Rebel 4 is such a great shoe and has held up really well over time. The only thing I'd be cautious of is the very wide fit, if you have a narrow foot.
@@robin29991 the product designers at Puma definitely watch this channel and read all the comments, so it’s a guarantee something like that will come out 👍👌
Oh, very kind but I highly doubt a relatively unimportant channel like mine has any influence🤗 Plus I've never reviewed a Puma Shoe on this channel(yet).
You know, I'm reading a book that talks about the western front in the winter if 1916-17... this video makes me realize how bleak it was. 🤣 I love it. Interesting comparison.
It's not completely dead to be fait. It's still fine to run in. But just lost its Energy Return. I think 500+ KM is okay there... But maybe was hoping for a bit longer than that.
@@robin29991 I feel you. With how thick everything gets, its organic to expect more. But yeah, everything is technically runnable until it falls apart fully but once the "fun" goes away aka the bounce, it sucks.
Recent subscriber to your channel. Great video. I would maybe add the Brooks Hyperion 2 for consideration. I find it works well for me as a lightweight daily trainer, even though that probably isn't Brooks' intended use for the shoe. Keep up the great work.
Welcome to the Channel then first and foremost! I haven't tried the Hyperion 2. But I have actually tried the Hyperion Max v1 which looks like it was a very similar shoe. I did kind of like that but actually found it maybe a bit too firm, especially in the heel area. I'll keep my eyes open as to what Brooks does with this line in the future...
Thanks for the great video! I myself like the Mach 6 over the rebel 4. I sometimes feel like I bottom out on the rebel, not had that with the Mach 6. I feel like the Mach 6 gives me more bounce back. I am a bit heavier though (80kg)
Interesting. This just highlights what a massive role things like Bodyweight, Running Form etc make. I personally never felt like I bottomed out the Rebel. Okay, I did get that with the Rebel v2 back in the day but that was a much squishier foam than it has now.
Tried the SL2 in a UK9 and UK9.5 and nope, just can't get them to fit. Ive had a bad history with sizings in New Balance and Hoka in the past also. Just need PUMA to release a competitor to these. 🙏 also - no zombies spotted, safe!
Yeah, the SL2 has such a pointy toebox... Let's see what Puma has in store for 2025. I really love this kind of shoe that is light and has a nice foam but no plate.
I recently bought the SL2. My feet are narrow but I have a bunier on the left that has made me wear shoes bigger than my actual size. But when trying the SL2 I felt it was quite permissive and I was even able to lower half a size.
Interesting. Not an expert on that but I guess with bunions it often depends on where exactly the shoe is narrow, materials used and overlays... Glad they work for you.
My 2 cent.. Pegasus Plus feeling flat.. I just need a rocker 😂.. Mach 6 wide is not really wide ⚠️ so could not run in it.. Will get the EVO SL once price drop.
Yeah, I find it requires clean form to work and really is not very nice when you're on tired legs... I only have the standard Mach 6 but it is super narrow. The Evo SL is actually quite a bit more accomodating.
Why no Evo SL? This week I’ve used it for short intervals and a 30k long run, and it’s been brilliant for me. I’ve not run in any of those you featured, but it’s hard to imagine any bettering it.
I left out the Evo SL intentionally. I've done several videos raving about that thing, it's one of my favorite shoes ever... But for me, it's kind of a different use case. These 4 here are basically Daily Trainers that can flex into some Speedwork if you want them to. But the Evo SL for me is the other way around: It's a Speed Shoe that can do the Daily Training as well. Hope that makes sense...;)
@@robin29991 my sl2 crossed the 600 km mark and only the rear outer outsole is slightly wearing out whereas the v4 with 500km, the same exact spot is completely gone.
This here? Just some Fashion Jacket... Wouldn't use it for Running. And I don't really have anything specific for Rain. Mostly I just get wet, not always pleasant.
SL2 and Mach 6 are too narrow in the toebox, both would be good with a wider toebox Human toes are meant to splay. Pegasus too much ground feel, too much drop and flat feeling. Rebel 4 too much ground feel from what some other reviews have said but close to being good. None of these. My requirements: No ground feel, drop no more then 8mm, some bounce/energy return, no narrow toebox. I think my Boston 12s and Superblast would qualify.
Yeah, agree on the Mach 6 and SL2 fit. I personally really like the Peg Plus but it's not a shoe for very tired legs and requires clean form. Reading your requirements, I'd instantly say get my personal favorite, the Evo SL. But it's a bit of a different shoe to these. These here are basically Daily Trainers that can flex into some Speedwork as well. @@robin29991 Yes was looking at the Evo SL, my only concern is that perphas it's not great for slower speeds like 6min/km which is my typical non tempo run speed.
@@robin29991 Are you calling my 6min runs ploddy? Lol Maybe not the ideal choice. I think I will wait for the Boston 13 to come out before deciding on a new shoe. It should be out by April.
Absolutely not. I'm talking about myself here and what I've used this shoe for and it didn't feel ideal for the Recovery Runs. We all know pace is very individual and what counts is the effort. My Marathon Pace for example is basically an Easy Run for most Elites. I saw some photos of the Boston 13 recently. Looks great! I wasn't the biggest fan of the 12 but it seems to have much more Lightstrike Pro now!

Cult classic channel 👍
Nice innovative presentation and good info on lifespan, performance, and fit.
Thanks! Hope this one wasn't too boring. Bit of a slower pace than usual here.

Cold, grey, wet and not a lot of Day Light 😔
But it's already the middle of January so we're trending upwards!
@ Positive attitude…
Crazy how different your experience with the Mach 6 is. Everyone i've seen so far has praises its lifespan to death.

I have both the sl2 and Rv4. The v4 out sole can't last unlike the sl2. And I prefer the ride of the SL2 over the v4.
I only have about 70km in the SL2 so far but do have to say, that thick rubber really does look like it might outlast the Rebel.

Hard to say. But it doesn't really like to do the really ploddy Recovery Runs for me. That Rocker is quite aggressive.
