English is not my first language, but words like 'peculiar' or 'hippopotamus' always make me smile...
Serendipity is a favorite of mine. It sounds so positive and joyous!
I first learned that word when I was 12 during a visit to San Francisco during the Summer of Love. There was a delightful shop named Serendipity with all sorts of colorful hippy trinkets, all Flower Child and colorfully psychedelic. I learned what the word meant and delighted in finding uses for it in everyday conversation from then on. I’d grown up in the Midwest. And by the time I was in my late 40s, I moved to San Francisco and will probably die here ultimately. And the memory of that shop was probably a major reason why.
@@jochildress5003 I had the same 12 year old experience of 60s psychedelia, which is forever ingrained in my soul - here's to The Prince of Serendip! Great comment.👍😊
"Let me know your favorite word" 😂 ok i got a dirty one, to oppose the spreadsheet vibe.
I like the word FUCK, because its good to scream and good to whisper 🤭🤣🤣
😂 I am from Germany. I also like the word "fuck". Sometimes it says everything! 😉
In Australia, it can be used in so many ways. Almost a universal descriptor 😂
Hi Gemma
I'm unable to chose one favourite word, so I have put a few in the following paragraph. Just for fun!
For a myriad of reasons, the nonchalant lady languidly appeared, as if by happenstance. Her lustrous eyes smiled enigmatically. This beguiling presence, one could say, was serendipitous 😉
Right now my favorite word is plethora. There is a kind of nonchalance about the assumption of abundance. " Plethora, darling, do come in and make yourself comfortable!!! "
Hi Gemma, SO glad to see Valentine curled up behind you -- haven't seen her in a while and was wondering. Also glad I missed some of that foul weather in mid-Sept when I spent a glorious week in London -- blue skies, sun, warm temps all the way through. Happy Fall.
Serendipity - love, love, love, the film too! I’m happy the Knight of Pentacles showed up 😂 thank you Gemma 🙏❤✨
Hi Gemma, my favorite word has always been "imagination". It's always had a dreamy and mystical quality for me, and a sort of anything can happen magic ✨
One of my favourite words funnily enough is
Petrichor; the smell of rain. From the greek 'Petra' for stone and 'ichor' which in greek mythology refers to the golden fluid that flows in the veins of the immortals apparently. I didn't know that bit til just now 😊 just liked the word!
I love the word "synonym". It can be used in so many ways to relate ideas with just one word, and sums up everything. It saves you a lot of time, especially when you have a hard time explaining things (like I do, due to my. Mercury retrograde in Pisces, haha!) Saturn will leave Pisces on May 26th 2025. But on September 2nd 2025 it will return to Pisces due to retrogradation (it will be retrograde on July 14th). This will bring back all the themes we've been working on during these last 5º of Saturn in Pisces (from April to May 2025), to make sure we're really doing a good job saying goodbye to Piscian energy in Saturn. It's like "Saturn's last breath" (especially because it will start a whole new cycle in Aries). And then it only leaves Pisces FOR GOOD on February 15th, 2026. Until then, I don't think things are going to be very easy for us Pisces, to be honest because we're helping with a lot of the cleaning of the collective energy (part of our karmic responsibility, and Saturn is all about responsibility). Neptune is also in the last degrees of Pisces, glued to Saturn in this cosmic dance, also influencing not only the collective but also Pisces karmic "call for action/aid". 😅 I hope it helps.
Anything to do with trees, im all in. Beautiful, brilliant Gemma! "Dendrolatry: a deep reverence for the trees." Adore trees like more than humans... trees and creatures. Thanks Gemma! 💖👍👍
I like "plynth" and "Foible" but nothing compares to the "C" word, purely for the reason, it ALWAYS suits the person it's meant for
I was a legal secretary, and I loved when I first heard the term “grandfathered” as well, same as you.
I love the word lachrymose, as a weepy Cancerian it’s very fitting!
Hi Gemma. Saturn moves into Aries on May 25, 2025 and stays there until September 1, when it retrogrades back into Pisces until February 14 of 2026. I didn’t write down the date it goes retrograde, but it actually re-enters Pisces on September 1. So quite a long time!
Hi G, apart from some swear words 😂😂, I love the word idiosyncrasy, just because it can be used for a person or thing 😊🤔😃😃
Thank you, Gemma!! 😊 I have multiple words in English that I enjoy, but the one that stands out for me in Spanish is chapopote. It stands out for a silly reason. I think my little sis and I must have been tired or something. But when we were a lot younger, we were in the truck headed somewhere far to visit family. We heard our parents talk about chapopote and it gave us the biggest giggling fit 🤣. It sounded so funny and long for something so simple and short, tar. 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll never forget we were laughing so hard we were holding our stomachs. 😄 I must have been around 10 years old (that was 36 years ago) and my sis was 7. 😊
Favorite word.....is Saucy.....love to slip it in a conversation 😂
I love the word “garble” because of its etymology. When you take it all the way back, it actually defines itself, and it’s really interesting. You can practically see the Crusades. Also the word “gamut” for a similar reason, the etymology, which goes all the way back to a full Latin psalm.
Thank you Gemma - especially appreciative of your humor, which was much needed this morning! This resonated for sure and appreciate the guidance & love today’s word! Much love and gratitude! ❤❤❤
Oh yes a little geeky. Dendrites also occur in the brain and nervous system!.
In this weather my daughter and I were just discussing the feeling of autumnal weather and a sprinkling cool morning on the balcony. Time to light a candle invite the cat and a coffee and then after a nap go for a walk in rainboots!❤
I'll throw in a german word just for sh*ts and giggles - kummerspeck: direct translation is 'grief bacon'🥓 the weight you gain through emotional eating or sorrow. Unfortunately, lately, I have some kummerspeck around my midriff. Thank you Gemma 💖 from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘xx
I hear the rain 🌧 lovely sound.
My word is harmony. Let us live in harmony with nature and each other ❤
Everyone should hug a tree,it's good for you 🌳 persisting down here 😢 x
Serendipity and auspicious are my favourite words but dodecahedron always used to make me giggle 😊. Loved the reading and having some balls - bring on the inner strength 👍xx
Pluviophile is probably my favorite word.
The love you give will come back to you multiplied Keep sharing it freely 🌿💖
Trajectory is a fun word to say
Cellar door is the prettiest
Brilliant, vote for peace. The best way for sure ❤ thanks Gemma and have a great week. Totally resonated x
Such divine energy in this video! It’s truly inspiring 🙏✨
I like the sound of the word 'Schadenfreude' but these days I don't indulge in it. Great when you are younger and you see someone get their come uppance, but as you become older and wiser you realise it's not helpful and can be cruel. Thanks Gemma 😁
😂😂 Saturn doesn’t leave ol’ Pisces until 13th February 2026 Gemma! He’s retrograde at the moment until 15th Nov 2024 so he’s technically in Aquarius right now 😂 we also have Jupiter turning retro this week on the 9th October 😮 and Pluto going direct on the 11th October so my guess it’s time for some spiritual big jobs! 😂 x
Your reading of the definition of dendrology… 😆😆😆
It's a 2 1/2 year thing since February: Saturn in Pisces. It had some delays being retrograde . Someone random is texting me and acting like I had their number saved. Im like not here for the games lately ..I would be so happy to have the person texting me that I want , the clarity is killing me
🦀 I have two, falafel & plethora ✌️&❤
Hi Gemma. What an enlightening reading. Have a wonderful day😊
Having the balls to speak the truth in today's world is such a triumph!
My late father was a further education lecturer and was quite witty. I remember a story he told me that he had a sign made to put on his office door ‘Head of Carphology’. No one of course really knew what it meant but it sounded important. He said it meant ‘rustling of bedsheets’ 😅
Just looked it up and it means ‘the action of aimlessly picking at objects or one’s own bed linen’ !
Good Afternoon from Gloucestershire… glorious sunshine here 😊
I just learned the word zooeyia, which means the love between humans and animals, so I'll champion that one today🐕🐕
I like me the word Glowing 🙌
Thank you.
Oh and another great word doppelgänger 😂😂😂xx
I've been throwing the word auspicious around way too much lately
Fremdschämen is a fabulous German word, referring to win someone does something cringeworthy' and you feel embarrassment for them. Oh and the weather is miserable here. Drizzly and overcast. I'm hoping it clears up as I plan to go whale watching with a friend today.
Extraordinary is a very special word 🙂
Blue or blues. Both the color & the 🎶 music. Theres's someone learning drums I hear & tonight there was a female singer w him. She sang Radiohead Creep & tried Adele Rolling in the Deep. Excellent reading. Take care of yourself w Saturn in your sign
I’ve been sitting here for an hour, and I can’t choose a favorite word. I guess I’ll go with brillig and borogroves and blame it on Lewis Carroll. This is an interesting reading. It applies to a recent interaction. I had with a woman who was supposed to help me balance my hormones, and who turned out to be an absolute nightmare. It also applies to a situation with my sister. I feel like Jupiter in Gemini is kind of presenting us with things on two different levels at the same time. I believe Jupiter goes retrograde on the 8th, which is actually tomorrow for me and probably today for you. Is anyone else feeling like there are double layers of everything everywhere? I’m not even sure what I mean. I guess I’m a Jabberwock. 🤪
Do these words have actual meanings and get used in conversation by Brits? I’d love to know. I love the poem - the whole book, in fact - and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to use “mimsy” or “brillig” in Scrabble.
Super helpful, thank you. As a woman dealing with a woman, I still find the subtleties challenging 😂. I am protecting my peace by doing nothing currently.
Saturn leaves Pisces 13th February 2026😢😢😢😢😢😢
My favorite word is ……,UNDULATE!
"cocodoco" is the cutest word in the world (pronounced kokodoko). it is an actual japanese expression translating to "where are we?" coco means "here", doco means "where". so you're asking your friend cocodoco?, "where is here?" 😊
❤❤❤
💜
🩷❤️🧡💛💚
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you, hope it really resonated for you 🎉❤✨
You are a vessel of light Keep shining and inspiring others 💖
