My sons just left Rome after visiting their cousins there and reported the food is shocking in the touristy areas. They said even airport food was better than anything they could find. Obviously, they have to go more regional or smaller towns and cities for decent food bc Romans only care about the food they eat themselves, not you. My boys binned what they ate from pasta to focaccia flabbergasted that they could get simple pasta or pizza so wrong. They are now in Palermo , a smaller city, visiting family and it's a completely different food experience and as they travel more northwards to Tuscany and Venice to visit yet other relatives,, the food eating out experience should improve vastly as Italians there tend to care more about food in general. The boys said there is no real Italian culture any more in mega-cities like Rome.
@@yvanapantino273 yeah that makes sense so many tourists in Rome all the small businesses want to make money off of them. The restaurants are to make quick food. They want the tourist to sit down and leave and keep the ball rolling so they can keep making money they don’t care about quality, want to take some frozen food heated up in the microwave put it on a plate and bring it out to the tourist money and send them their way
