You haven't necessarily sold me on Hunt wheels in particular (yet). However, I've been waffling between _another_ midlife upgraded of my 2012 TCR and getting a new disk brake bike. Watching this convinced me that that my current tech is sufficiently obsolete that I need to upgrade. Thank you.
I have two sets of Hunt wheels and I have been very happy with them. They have proven to be a great value and tubeless set up has been truly straightforward.
So much hate for hunt wheels. I had a set of 50mm hunt wheels for a couple of years and they were fine. I sold them due to the insanely loud free hub. Got a set of shimano c50 wheels and have so many issues with them. Maybe I got luck with the hunts but for the money I thought they were great.
This makes me wonder how wide road tires will go. Are we all going to be on 40 mm tires 5 years from now and wondering why we suffered with 32 mm tires?
I am in the market for some new gravel carbon wheels, Hunt is in my thoughts, but so are bad opinions about their hub reliability. Were they youth/design issues that have now been solved?
Made in China with poor bearings don't believe the hype, I have a set of their wheels they were ok much lighter than the stock wheels on my bike had to have a complete set of new bearings in both wheels/freehub after a couple of thousand miles. Much better and quieter with the Enduro replacements
I bought 2 pair of alU hunt wheels in the past. They did not last 2 years. Rims split , the warranty only covers the rims. Too expensive, poor service, bad quality.
All of this tech marketing knowledge to design a shitty product that is the laughing stock of wheel manufacturers. When I see them come into my shop I usually just break it to the customer that they made a bad purchase based on marketing hype not quality control
Hookless.....no thanks for road rims. Just to many people with issues. I have a set of Hunt wheels that are hooked and they are great. I am looking to get another set soon.
I have the Hunt carbon gravel wheels, and i’m sorry to say after 35 years of riding these have been the worst wheels quality-wise I have every owned. Bearings failed within 3 months and then spoke failures started at 12 months, great wheels on paper but their quality just lets them down.
I have the Limitless Gravel with Ceramic Speed and I love them. I love how loud the free hub is so I don't have to warn anyone I'm coming on the dirt roads. I won't run the road wheels though. Gotta have hooks for that.
If you listen to the Escape collective podcast you will hear that Roval ordered some wheels from hunt to test them, smaller British brands like Hunt, Mason, Whyte all deserve praise for innovation
Have over 12K miles on my Hunt 50mm, no issues. Love the free hub sound and over the last two seasons I have come across many other free hubs that are louder 😂
When developing any wheel many assumptions must be made about the direction of air flow and its speed. Riding into the wind straight on is very different from a tailwind or a cross wind and on any given ride a rider may experience airflows of different speeds from multiple directions. Ultimately the profile of say a track bike wheel will be very different from a wheel used in a grand tour race. I would be interested in knowing what these assumptions are for a regular road bike wheel set.

Same experience here. I have 2 sets new last summer '23. Love 'em!
I love my Hunt's. Its nice having something different than what everybody else is riding.
Yep, I like the idea of that 34mm external front. Makes a lot of sense.
Ive been riding my Hunt 50mm since January 2021, all I did was upgrade the bearings with Kogel Ceramic . No hub issues ever .
Kogel are good but you pay for what you get they ain't cheap lol
Shouldn't the title read 'Why one of Hunt’s New Wheels is SO WIDE'?
It was me Dave who ambushed you today in the Co-op hahah
Do you have heating there in England?
So….. with less time in RAD I never heard them say the savings would be passed on to the customer, or did I miss that? Only watched half way.

Lotsof sensible and proven information here. now make the hubs less noisy please. Love my UB38s, hate the noise.
Just change the freehub bearings for a better brand like Enduro, quietened mine down.
These are great !!

Look at Lightbicycle, they're amazing and can use whatever hub you want
I am thinking the same

@@andrewhayes7055all of their components including their hubs are made in Taiwan
I'm 200lbs, ride over 7k miles a year. They are just fine for what you need. Just don't tighten the skewer too much if have those.

What do you find wrong with them?
First
fourth
Second!
Third
Hookless.....no thanks for road rims. Just to many people with issues. I have a set of Hunt wheels that are hooked and they are great. I am looking to get another set soon.
rear hub broke in the summer on a old carbon rim rear wheel, hunt were very helpful getting it fixed

FM! Hookless .. WHY???? Unfortunately lost me there 🤯 .. total turn off🤮
It's a better design.
Why ceramic bearings?

My UD Carbons are hooked and Tubeless - running Continental 5000s TR 28 ON ONE SET AND 30 on another. Pure road for me.
Not a word about their noisy free hubs.. Skimming around the elephant in the room.
U can always put more grease in it
Like a machine gun I replaced the bearings much quieter now
They’re now the DT Swiss design.
Are Hunt's premises in a deep freeze ❄?
Looks like a cold place to work…
it was -6 that day!
Strongly disagree with the founder's claim at 13:50 . I have tubes and rarely have punctures in my setups .
This has the same concept with Roval Rapide CLX II front rim is wider than the rear rim. Good job Hunt!

@@imark9386I second this, Hunt did it first with 48 Limitless, then copied by Roval, Reserve Ascent etc.

Great Video David nice to see British brands showcased.
Thanks 👍
I've got hunt trailwides on my gravel set up. Honestly love em.
18:20 the haters should be able to respect this.

You got me at the “forefront of the wheel technology “…😂😂😂
Where's the production? Oh right, China. Why pay premium for rebranded chinese wheels when you can just buy them for cheaper straight from China...
Yay hookless. So many genuine advantages.
Would never buy Hunt wheels. Those screaming freewheels are a complete nightmare and just lazy, cheap engineering.
Many of the hunt wheels have a quiet free hub now, also it’s got nothing to do with lazy engineering.
Do you also say the same about CK & DT Swiss hubs?
I like loud hubs. It's like buying a bell and getting a set of wheels thrown in for free.
Just wait until you hear Chris King hubs… by reputation the best engineered hubs
Are you actually an engineer?
