All movements are gorgeous, but that second one...sheesh. I've never had another ambient/drone song make me feel quite like that. It's similar to what I've experienced in sleep paralysis - the sensation of your body being totally relaxed and "asleep" is euphoric, but there is also the frightening psychological experience paired with it. Your brain gains access to an unfamiliar place between worlds - between asleep and awake. It's exciting because it's so uncanny, but it's also stained by uncertainty and even fear. The pulsing, sort of tremolo effect reminds me of the exact way my brain feels during a paralysis episode - like it's fluttering, sending out a signal. The coldness of the key/note choices, along with the gentle guitar chiming, and the sort of splashy white noise springing off each pulse all come together to help me imagine myself floating over a frozen field, but I'm warm at the same time. It truly is their most hypnotic moment as a band, in my opinion.
One of the best ambient chill pieces ever written. It's really like a drug to sedate you, chill you, heal your wounds, and inspire you, especially after the 5 minute mark.
Interestingly I love both Stars of the Lid and Jeremy Soule. I've got this outlandish fantasy where they collaborate and meet their musical tasts somewhere near the middle.

It's an absolutely gorgeous piece of music, and so hypnotic. So soothing for stress or anxiety.
what a gorgeous application of a high-resolution panorama. Thank you Mushulous.
I love the high sierras. It's a magical place. Beautiful and so very isolated.
This side helped me through a turbulent time. We're good friends now.

I'm sure they took it from the "City of lost children" movie. It's the movie's first scene.

Imagery does not match the mood of the song at all for me.

The image should not matter.
The beautiful ambient music is what you came for.
I've seen you EVERYWHERE what the fuck man
It evokes feelings of coldness and isolation.
@@TheWelchProductions Yes, I agree. I see a field somewhere glistening with ice - early morning and there's no one around for miles.
