I was fortunate to know Harley and learn from him during my time at Luther College, and just want to say that he is an absolute gem of a man. His love of the craft is infectious, and his knowledge, kindness, and patience make him a joy to be around.
I am an amateur carver and enjoy the flat plane style. This was an enjoyable segment and a great way to get to know the history around this talented carver. You have inspired so many. Thank you
What a great video! I was fortunate enough to take a class with Mr. Refsal once. Not only was the class interesting and very enjoyable, but Harley was truly one of he nicest and kindest people I had ever met! His books are wonderful, but meeting him in person and taking a class from him is unbeatable! Thank you, Harley Refsal!
‘The world isn’t counting on a little whittle project, but we need that here (points at heart, and head)’. I just discovered that recently and that really resonates
Was so happy to find this today....and wow, what a nice presentation of Harley and his work. Been a carver for a couple of decades and I do appreciate Harvey style, skill and dedication to the craft. Well Done.
so beautiful video. thank you very much. I live in Spain but I have learned a lot from Harley books, hope in future I could have a class from him. Thank you very much for inspiring me carving
Such an inspirational video! I got into carving late in life. It is such a joy to me. As our world gets crazier and crazier it brings a little bit of peace and magic to my life.
King Harold was my colonel in chief of my old regiment The Green Howard’s and we use to have this hard compilation each year to win the king Harold company but no one wanted to win it because the next year that company had to do all the shows which where a pain in the arse as well lol
Don't know what to saw sir.Your work is absolutely beautiful.Sure wish I knew of a group to sit with and enjoy the craft. I have been carving for about 3 years at this point, and absolutely love spending time making chips.Thank you for the time you give to others .Thx. Dean Jernstrom.
This was a wonderful video, thank you for sharing. Mr. Refsal’s carvings are amazing but what I admire most is his commitment to encouraging others to take up carving or other hand work. Thank you Harley!
Excellent video and the work of Harley Refsal. I have taken many classes from Harley enjoyed everyone - I love and enjoyed that time I have had with Harley and working on woodcarvings and the methods he has taught. I hope to continue this goal to help others to produce wood chips and more little folks and Dala horse, many carrots and fishes. Takk skal du ha Harley du er inspirasjon..
Thanks for a wonderfull video. I have one question to ask. Which kind of Wood did you use for carving when you lived in Norway ? I live in Denmark and have no basswood. Very best regards Esben Back.
what a wonderful video and what wonderful people in it.. its contagious and I feel like getting my knife out and carve away even though its 6am in the morning and I havent slept.. and reading thru all comments here I notice that theres only love , no disagreement or argues just love and happyness.. i hope that Putin could see this and pick up this hobby instead of making war and mess!!
