  • Kids love mixing, building, and asking curious questions, so we thought we should, what would happen if sand were afraid of water? In this episode, we provide an at-home experiment for parents to understand that not every sand turns to mud when you add good ole' H20. Hydrophobic sand is coated with chemicals that resist water, and as a result, it can stay dry. It's not magic, its lovely everyday science! At home, try soil, sand, and regular dirt, as you add water and understand that not every type of soil is the same. What happens if you add milk to sand...does it do the same thing?
