Mark nearly died multiple times this series. Being lost in the Quantox, being poisoned by his roommate, nearly having a heart attack when he discovered that Jez was sleeping with his sister, surviving a polite mugging. Good thing that he had brown toast for main and white toast for pudding. That was the sole bright spot for him that series

Mark's entire life is a catalogue of cowardice. Always on the cusp, it's kind of tragic. Very tragic actually.
@@DanHooper-my7mz Someone on YT made a bizarrely trenchant observation about Mark that applies to a lot of people (me included): his self-esteem is so low that he doesn't know how to be healthily selfish, and as a result does things he doesn't want to do (like marry Sophie) or doesn't do what he does want (like pull Big Suze). He's a Philip Larkin poem come to life.

The knife Mark is carrying is a great detail. It's not just a kitchen knife or pocket knife It's a rather collectable WWII German Pantographic knife, often (but erroneously) called a "Paratrooper Knife".

Michelle, Suze, Merry & Sarah are great additions to PS, all being added in s3. They should've all been in more eps: Suze is in ten, Sarah in four & the other two in one each.

S2 & 3 are both considerably better than s1, but not as good as s4.
