[PS2] Dodonpachi Daioujou - Death Label - Double Hibachi (Both Loops) (No-Miss)

- You know what's stupid? Making you fight two Hibachi's at the same time.
You know what's even stupider? Buffing said fight.
Officially known as Hibachi Kai and Shin Hibachi Kai, double Hibachi is the last boss of the Death Label mode in the PS2 port of Dodonpachi Daioujou. Which was somewhat of an infamous boss-rush-like arrange mode that went uncleared for 7 years. You can probably tell why.
The boss rush is pretty short, but the bosses have been significantly buffed from the normal arcade mode, it's the 2nd loop versions but the bullets are like twice as fast. You also don't get any lives whatsoever for the 2nd loop, which is deranged. I don't know what ARIKA was thinking when they made this, not even Cave was this cruel.
Anyway this boss is extremely random. Boss movement is random and the starting angle of everything is random, and with two of them being there, this drastically increases the amount of randomness.
Hitbox-wise this also follows White Label rules; hitboxes are big. Wiggling and hoping for the best usually doesn't work, you have to actually dodge.
Breakdown:
- At the start you can pointblank them both at once a little, then pointblank until about 50 hits or so.
- 2 bombs on the first pattern, try to find lanes in the blue lines to follow.
- 2 bombs on the second for a hyper setup. Pointblank until about 300 hits then move down.
- Try to dodge the third pattern mostly on the left, but use the bullet cancel from the hyper refill and end-cancel to your advantage. The red lines have pretty huge gaps, the real danger here are the blue lines. Becomes really dumb if many lines overlap at once, at which point you have to do an unfocus dash through them. Don't let it push you too much to the right. Very inconsistent pattern.
- The 4th pattern is EXTREMELY random, it's insane how fast you can get completely walled in this. Read ahead and move through gaps before they close, don't be afraid to unfocus for more speed. It's possible to move through the walls as a last resort. Also it's actually possible to die here if you end the phase before your current hyper runs out, as you won't be able to get the next hyper drop before the washing machine starts. Delay on this pattern if you need to.
- Double washing machine is ironically easier than the normal version, but obviously still insanely crazy. Start with a hyper activation to pointblank, then move towards the middle and then to the right side to follow along with the flow of the pattern. After a while the rotation changes so you have to change to the left side. The moment it starts rotating to the other side is very dangerous, so hopefully you get a hyper refill cancel here. Focus mostly on the red lines as they're dense.
Probably the biggest difference with the 2nd loop version is the 3rd pattern. The first two patterns stay relatively consistent but the 3rd pattern just becomes absurd. The last two patterns seem the same? They felt equally as hard at least.
Took about 3~4 hours to beat the 2nd loop version once.
Then a few more to do the 1st loop version.
Now imagine having to do this after 13 minutes of a grueling boss rush where you have to no-miss the entire 2nd loop.
Shoutouts to Skalt for making a custom build of PCSX2 that removes 1 frame of input lag over the official nightly build.
You can download that build here: mega.nz/file/GfRlAIQB#IVD2haT...
Still a bunch of input lag, but otherwise actually fairly playable.
Good PS2 emulation never (though it's considerably better now than it was even a year ago or so).
00:00 - Loop 1 - Hibachi Kai
01:21 - Loop 2 - Shin Hibachi Kai

The fact you did this is insane, the fact you did this on ps2 emulator is even more insane. Amazing playing
This is an amazing accomplishment! Double Washing Machine is so terrifying it's hilarious, I can't believe someone on the dev team was like "Yes, let's expect the player to go through THAT without getting hit"
I was showing some people this at work and everyone was just laughing at how absurd of an accomplishment this is. Congrats on ascending from our realm
As amazing of an accomplishment this is to anyone who beats Shin, knowing now there’s only 7 players emerging victorious…
Have you met Inbachi yet?
>I don't know what ARIKA was thinking when they made this, not even Cave was this cruel.
Don't forget that Arika are creators of great and mighty Tetris the GrandMaster :) Just be thankful they didn't come up with "invisible bullets" mode like in TGM3...
Oh that’s interesting. I didn’t know the ones who made Terror Instinct also contributed towards this ridiculous double boss fight. Testing humanity to the limits really is their calling card, isn’t it?
By the way, have you seen Inbachi from Dodonpachi Saidaioujou yet? The original variant of course.
Imagine if Dodonpachi Sai-Daioujou had a Death Label, with two Inbachis...
please no...
Inbachi has yet to be 1cc, calm down Satan.
I would s**t my pants.
F|_|ck no
Imagine of ARIKA is still around
They DEFINITELY gonna do Inbachi KAI
DDPDOJ's Death Label's 20th anniversary is this year!
However, for the music, original version was used in the 1st loop. On the other hand, arrange version was used in the 2nd loop.
Knowing only 7 players beat Shin Hibachi Kai over the course of the 20 years, it’s truly saying how hard it actually is!
(I know it’s incredibly random, but I do know for a fact it’s incredibly hard)
@@speedymatt1236 is there a list of these players?
I’m not sure tbh.
So that's where the Labyrinth of Touhou version of these two came from.
Congrats man: this looks a bit insane.
Any modern videos on that game with these bosses in particular?
@@speedymatt1236 I think there's one from a month ago by Evilisk.
I don’t understand how this is humanly possible
If a TAS can do it, it’s theoretically possible. But for humanity to reach such a point in challenges is quite absurd. This is literally the 4th hardest boss in the world in terms of most statistics.
0:04 To quote Squidward: “There’s two of them?!”
Yyyyyup
Magnificent wiggling
One thing that didn't mentioned on this mode...
All except Shin Hibachi Kai on Second loop will recover lifes based on what bomb you used,if a laser bomb is used then the boss will recover a huge chunk of lifes and since second loop is a extremely buffed version of the original 'second loop' version, this will makes even reaching Shin Hibachi Kai a harder challenge, especially 3rd stage boss,it's a total nightmare.😂
Also the First one who officialy cleared this mode is a japanese player named MON,you can find the video on here as well.
He already knows that, he has been playing shmups for more than 10 years already
@@MushiSlayers yea i know,just for those ppl who don't.
there is also a nice interview with MON translated, was interesting to read
Damn impressive! Awesome job
Have you ever considered doing a run at ESA or GDQ? We need more bullet hell representation 😁
I remember the one time a bullet hell was at AGDQ (DDP DFK) other runners claimed that it had no purpose being there since it "wasn't a speedrun".
no we dont…we really dont
@@mostverticalproductions4808exactly. scoring community isnt the speedrun community.
@@neetsamurai There's nothing wrong with a showcase; there's a few of those in every speedrun event.
Also, Suzuha > Kurisu.
@@mostverticalproductions4808 I don't remember hearing that but that run of Mushihimesama that you're taking about was generally very well recieved. That being said, there are some folks in the speedrunning community who do take themselves (and 'speedrunning') too seriously unfortunately.
i'm not used to seeing this constant switching between focus and unfocus in doj. sure gives this the appearance of a touhou boss fight
i'd never played this mode so i'd always wondered if double washing machine was actually harder than bl. if the hitbox is still 6x7 then i'd guess so but you can also seemingly just hug the corner. interesting that you say to focus on the red lanes whereas on the og i read the blues
single hibachi took me like 7 hours to no miss but i was also bad then and focused on reds instead of blues and just did a zigzag movement instead of actually attempting to dodge
i remember attempting washing machine back in the day and wondering how tf you capped it but since then i've capped it 13 times in total, first try on two separate occasions and two tries on another. there's definitely some skill involved but only so much lol. if this pattern never rotated i'd even call it almost fair
someone should tell sairyou to cap wl washing machine
Yeah normally in DOJ laser speed is fine for dodging most things, but in Death Label everything is so fast that it just doesn't cut it anymore. Also yeah hitboxes follow White Label rules, which is what makes this so hard. The red lanes are so dense that you have very little chance of lucking through them if you don't read them and attempt to dodge them.
I was just talking to another video of this Boss fight
1st Loop is basically Black Label diff
2nd Loop is THE HELL loop
You thought 1st loop Hibachi KAI is fast? 2nd Loop hit you with that: *Think again*
Anyway, congratulations for beating SHIN Hibachi KAI! You are among the FEW who have done it. Welcome to the Pantheon of Death Label.
Among the few is now 7 players.
" Double washing machine is ironically easier than the normal version"
i dont see the difference
Me neither.
Dear god this is insanely impressive
That was amazing!!!
Crazy accomplishment, well done
Just to put in perspective HOW crazy it actually is:
Over the course of 20 years, only 7 people on earth have beaten Shin Hibachi Kai.
He’s now one of them!
I'm impressed you even seriously considered doing this, let alone actually did it.
That goes to show, the scale of difficulty involved in the double fight rematch is beyond comprehension.
Absolutely insane fight😅
Some of us will never git this "gewd" but I still love my shooties. I can just live vicariously thru this dude. 😆
Only 7 players worldwide are that “gewd” to be capable of beating this nightmare of a double boss
This is absurd. Congrats :)
Congratulations, very impressive!
The last patterns are really crazy.
Statistically, only 7 people beat the Shin Hibachi Kai fight over the course of 20 years, knowing you can’t get hit really adds to the challenge.
Mad respect
The Hibachi Twin Wash. GGs
Congrats, Jaimers!
Lol at all that amazing skill and it rewards too with "Game Over"
Since you’re such a legendary shmup player beating the 4th hardest boss in gaming existence, knowing only 6 others have beaten that, I congratulate you to the bottom of my hearts. 3-4 hours of practice fighting Shin actually isn’t that long at all!
I wonder if you’re capable of beating the original Inbachi on a full 1cc run…
I think only 4 have cleared death label according to Mon. Not going to deny this huge achievement tho 😅
Yes, of course!
Bro.
There go the "ps2 emu has too much input lag" excuses :(
Yeah ibot aethersx2 is not lagging
hi i am albert i wanted to know if you can make a gameplay of final exerion that was released for the nintendo switch. and soon later for pc via steam.
Lmfao dude
You know
Dude...
Jaimers you know ibeat hibachi with hyber
How much is the input lag with the custom build? 4 frames?
And here I was bitching about getting to the second loop being too hard. This puts THAT to shame. Now, I wonder if M2 is gonna bring back Death Label as DLC in the upcoming Rerelease of Dodonpachi Daioujou.
Honestly, judging by barely anyone beating this over the course of 20 years, I’m kinda scared if it does make a return.
What controller do you use?
Outa Control 🎉
FELLA DID IT. HE MF DID IT
This was the one version of DOJ that had a boss that was never beaten until years later right?
7 years later actually.
SDOJ however, has an even MORE ridiculous fight and is STILL unbeaten in a full 1cc run to this day, not to mention it’s only been beaten on 1 credit in practice mode a couple times with one time being at rank 50.
Holy shit!
Good job dealing those🎉. Maybe you play some Bullet Hell Monday on Steam? (note: BHM was on mobile a long ago now it has a PC port)
nice death label clear
It’s bigger of an accomplishment than you think.
Sees Jaimers playing Ikaruga on steam yesterday.... Gets a doj death label video.... Im ok with this ;)
Impressive😊
Beyond it tbh. What you just saw on the second loop was the 4th hardest boss I could possibly search for. Inbachi is number 1 for obvious historical reasons.
So how hard is Shin Hibachi Kai compared to Inbachi or Larsa on Ultra?
Easier than Inbachi, harder than Ultra Larsa.
Woa! And i thought that Queen Larsa was horrible enough! Congratulations on beating Shin Hibachi Kai! You're a legend!
Only 7 people beat Shin Hibachi Kai in 1 credit.
Inbachi however, has only been beaten on practice, but not yet the full 1cc run. It’s not 100% impossible, just 99.9% impossible.
My brain physically does not have enough proccessing power to keep up with this lol
I need more RAM
Wow!wtf?gg👊
is this game meant to be played?
Played, yes.
Cleared? (X) DOUBT
Let’s just say it tests humanity to its limits.
@@speedymatt1236 _Truly, villainy to rival EVAC Industries!_
I honestly kinda miss Donhimesama Daifutari tbh… I loved the knowledge of the hardest bosses he could possibly find.
D 1@10 How clear
You have it Jaimers
This looks like absolute nonsense, even by the standards of shmups. If it took nearly 7 years to clear then there's no way it was properly playtested, was it?
Pretty sure it was designed to be bullshit like some sort of dumb joke
That’s not even the hardest boss Cave ended up making.
Yes, I definitely know how hard it actually is. Only 7 players beating it over the course of 20 years.
The original Inbachi however, is statistically even harder than Shin!
According to an interview with Arika, the goal of the mode was to design something that was enticing to the top arcade players of the time, and to make something they couldn’t beat. Everything was at least individually tested to be beatable without dying, but obviously connecting everything together is what took 7 years.
Very interesting intentions, Jaimers!
Jesus lmao
Are you literally god?
He’s definitely in the pantheon of the Best Shmup players.
plz do vier
You definitely seem to know your bosses well.
Let him rest from this insane fight before he fights her
Yes, of course. After all only 2 and a half beaten Vier at her hardest. (The half comes from the infamous tie)
Touhou is Harder.™
You do know the total number of players beating the boss is a factor, right?
@@speedymatt1236 Aside from your truly unfortunate misunderstanding of the inside joke, no, it really is not.
If I make a game with a boss which I never beat myself and I also never release it publicly, it doesn't automatically become the hardest boss by the virtue of having zero people having beaten it. What if I beat a hard boss but don't _tell_ anyone? Or if I do tell but not in a way that makes it known to _you_? So that is the problem with that "factor": you're just looking at the data _available to you_ and assume it to be correct and comprehensive without any willful ignorance on your part. Which is a very bold assumption!
If you want to make an argument based on numbers, you need to consider the _exposure_ of the player base to the boss (i.e. how many players have fought it at all), the ability to _practice_ it independently (e.g. via save states, practice mode, or being able to repeat/restart the encounter at will), what is _required_ to beat the boss (is it just skill alone, or secret knowledge/strategy, specific favorable combination of items, exploits, etc.), and how easy it is to _tamper_ with results (i.e. cheat). You'll inevitably find that all of these factor into the percentage of successful kills in one way or another. Until all of that is properly researched, the argument is hard to take seriously.
I actually do understand the joke itself, and I definitely understand that the amount of players isn’t that much of a factor.
But what supports that factor could also be when it was first beaten. And I definitely know for a fact that only 7 players across the globe has actually beaten this ridiculous double boss across the 20 years of the game’s release. And yes I do know not a lot of people play this game, but it’s more popular than Blue Wish. I definitely try to be honest with the statistics.
