    OverBoard make an excellent waterproof TrekDry backpack with proper shoulder, chest and waist straps. I use one for my DSLR with the camera and lens inside a (homemade) foam tube inside the backpack. The backpack is made of tough reinforced PVC tarpaulin, is totally waterproof and floats too!

      That, and the fact that they’re production is very limited. As of right now, they’re completely sold out. So, probably not a holiday gift that’ll garner excitement.

    Thanks, another great video, you can tell you both worked as professionals in filming and camera work. Very polished. If you don't post again before Christmas have a good one.

    According to Mel and Vicky at UGOwear, they next style bag will be a sling bag. We use ours for laptop carry and intend to use it to "ditch" if necessary, but for my small cameras and accessories the WANDRD 6L sling is my favorite.

      The Wandrd looks like a good shape online, but what are the zips like? They look like they may suffer in the same way as the Lowpro ones

    As I have said before the best solution for correcting a chalky Hull is to have it professionally wrapped. My blue hulled Nimbus was covered 4 years ago and looks as good
    as new. Only use the very best marine grade vinyl such as 3M or Avery Denison. You can also have clear self healing panels put over the wrap where your fenders are located for extra protection. When done you will never have to compound or polish it again!1

      I'm not convinced a wrap would get down into the indented lines we have on Fair isle. Some people have said they can get wrap to do down into the dip but most say it will come out at some point.

      The company that did my boat said indents are not a problem provided that the organisation carrying out the work are experienced and professional.

    Love the anchor alarm device but really is way too expensive for what it is.

    Re; Vision Anchor. knowing where the anchor is, is useful but having a trip line may be more vital on some occasions. Bill

      @svfairisle  17 годин тому +1

      If you're forced to anchor in a harbour known to have lots of junk at the bottom then yes I agree a conventional trip line might be better, but to be honest we just avoid those places. If you do get stuck then at 880Lb breaking strain you can give a pretty good pull with the Vision anchors line, but I've had great success using the Ultra ring for a properly stuck anchor, never let me down. There's a video showing it on our channel

    Great video and awesome suggestions...the Quarter Master app really intrigues me. However after many decades of sailing and accumulating "stuff" it would be a challenge to get it loaded into the app! 😂😂
    Amazing what we accumulate over the years!
    Cheers and Merry Christmas

      You see we've missed a trick there, a video called 'the best thing to have on your boat' with a thumbnail of a semi-naked girl would probably get more views although arguable be less informative!

    With the anchor marker , I love it but I would be concerned with someone getting fouled in it and lifting your anchor from the bottom , that dyneema is so strong . I would put maybe a weak link in it to break at say 20lbs and just forget about it as a trip line to lift a fouled anchor .

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  19 годин тому +1

      You're not wrong that amazingly you do get idiots lifting a marker buoy thinking it's for mooring, it's happened with our orange buoy. However we havent had that problem with the VisionAnchor buoy and I don't think we will. Thats because when you lift it it will just spool out more line from the tensioned reel inside, it's not pulling on the anchor. You would have to pull enough line out from the buoy and tie it to something then pull to put any force on the anchor to trip it. Also looking at a bit of string the thickness of your flag halyard you would have to be REALLY stupid to think you couls tie your boat to it!

    • @svfairisle
      @svfairisle  19 годин тому +1

      P.S. the app will also alert you if the bouy is moved, and if it's stolen will act as a tracker too.

      Ahh yes , it would set off the alarm if it got fouled on someone’s rudder or prop and got dragged away .
